111 Beasts Attack

When I woke up the next day, I felt great. I don't know if it was because I have slept about 35 hours in the last two days or it was thanks to Rose treatment, but it made me realize how tired I was. After yesterdays I didn't hear anything more of Dante, I knew that he was ok because I could see the connection but he was just ignoring me.

I moved on the bed but didn't felt Rose near me, so I opened my eye and found myself alone on the bed. I can't believe that she was able to sneak out. Usually thanks to my enhanced senses I was able to notice when she tries to do that, but today she could sneak out, another proof of my weakened and tired state.

I enhanced some of my senses and listened to a happy humming on the kitchen. She was cooking something for breakfast.

I left the bed and went to the kitchen to find Rose with Lucy looking at what she was cooking.

"Do you think he will like it?"

She took a spoon of something that looked like porridge, but from the smell of it, I knew that she added a couple of things to make it tastier, Lucy smelled it and tried to eat it but she couldn't. I sneaked on Rose's back and hug her from behind and kissed her cheek.

"I think he will love it."

"Hey! You are supposed to be sleeping so I can surprise you with breakfast on the bed!"

"My bad, but we still can do that if you want."

"No, it has to be a surprise…, now help me and boil some water, we are eating breakfast with everyone else."

I should have stayed on the bed and make her believe that I'm sleeping next time… When we finished, everyone started to come into the kitchen to eat. I had to go to G's room and wake him up.

Hayley's father was worried because she was going in the rescue mission, but we calmed him saying that G was going to be there and be sure that nothing happens to Hayley.

Hayley and G left earlier than everyone they were wearing reinforced clothes and G had the giant hammer with him, a little later Isabella left together with Dana and Mr. Ryan.

In the end, it was just Hope, Rose and I left in the house. Hope noticed that and made a scared face.

"Oh god… I'm going to be the third wheel all morning right?!"

I'm pretty sure that Rose and I rolled our eyes at the same time.

"Just a little but you are screwed. We are going to see if you can use the Railfle today, so you have no escape, go and bring it to the roof…"

She seemed shocked by that but went to her room where she was keeping the Railfle.

It had a recoil pad attached to it.

We all went to the roof, just to annoy Hope a little I never let Rose hand and keep her close to me every second, to which she happily complied.

"Are you two going to be hand in hand being lovey-dovey all day? The treatment is already over, right?"

"We can never be sure, right Rose?"

"No… you are already recovered this is just because we want to annoy her a little as revenge, and because we never have time for ourselves…Don't look at me like that you know I can't lie why did you ask me if you wanted to tease her?!"

Hope started to laugh, and my cheeks felt like they were burning. How did I forget about that?

"Whatever as she said we want to annoy you a little and we usually can't do this so now take the Railfle."

She still had a smile on her face when she started to explore the different parts of the Railfle.

"We are going to focus here in the barrel where the magnetic railings are hidden, there you are going to create two separated electromagnetic fields as described on the book we read. Start with a slow spinning and shoot at that, the bullet will be slow but it will help you understand the concepts, and we can try with full force later."

She nodded and turned serious.

With my aura view, I could see her aura changing and spinning in different directions. I couldn't understand what she was doing, but when I was about to ask her she pulled the trigger and a bullet came out the barrel and dropped about 2 meters away.

"That was good, Pay attention to the distance it traveled with that amount of "force," now try it speeding it up but just a little."

She nodded. And we kept doing this, and each time the bullet was further.

After a while, I noticed that Hope was tired. So we decided to take a break.

"I noticed that whenever you use your ability, your aura spins in some way, right now that spinning was more chaotic than usual, why is that?"

"To create that kind of electromagnetic field I need to overlap multiple ones, at least that's the way I got used to doing it, also I have to create two completely opposed, that's why I got tired so fast."

"Does making it, so the bullet go faster make it more difficult?"

"Actually is the opposite, I have to stop the electromagnetic fields from going wild and accelerate, so making it slow is more difficult."

"Then we will try one at a faster speed next, we need to go to a firing range for that."

"Let's go then!! I'm not going to be the third wheel that way…"

We left the apartment all together. I took the tomahawk and the pushing knives with me just in case.

"I want to go to the armory on the way too."

"Why?"

"I need new reinforced clothes."

"Right I forgot about it."

We arrived at the armory and the same guy from the last time receive us.

"Hey there, I heard that you got bitten by a snake are you ok?."

"Yeah, I've recovered already."

"That's good what can I help you with."

"I need new reinforced clothes, the last one got ruined on that fight."

"Right, give me a second."

He went through a few boxes and got back with a little bag. It felt a little lighter than the last ones.

"Why are these lighter?"

"These are completely made by a different beast skin, is more flexible and lighter but the protections is about the same… at least on the performance evaluation. So if you can give us some feedback, we would be grateful."

"Sure."

"Anything else?"

I look at Hope for a second.

"Do you have a scope for that Railfle?"

"Yeah, we have a some come here and see which one you like."

Hope went and together with the clerk choose a 3x optic scope and attached it to the Railfle right away.

At that moment a woman came inside the armory. She seemed to have been running around for a while.

"Tell Russell that he has to go to Dr. Harting office right now."

She was about to leave when she noticed us. She seemed like she was trying to figure out something and asked.

"Are you Spencer Davies?"

"Yes?"

"You have to go too."

And she left…

What was that? The woman seemed familiar, but I could quite know where have I seen her.

The guy went into the back of the store right away and came back with whom I suppose is Russell, and he went out of the store almost running.

"This…"

"You should go fast the only time that Russell was called to go there was when we created the armory, so if they called him it has to be an emergency…"

I nodded to him.

"Thanks." I turned my head towards the girls. "I'll go to see what is this about, go to the hospital and wait with Isabella."

We left the armory and went towards the school, Ther girls went to the hospital area, and I went directly towards Dr. Harting office."

Usually, this place had at most two or three people, but today I could see a couple dozens here. I recognized a couple including Russell, Ian, and Mr. Ryan and Dr. Rehn. Ian was looking around and counting people.

At last Leon came inside with a serious looking guy and the woman that told me to come here.

"I think that all of us."

Russell talked

"What do you mean all of us? Harting isn't here yet, what is all this about?"

"Dr. Harting is out on a mission, so is up to us to decide what will we do. first let me introduce you to Sigrid Mazzi, from the Aurora Clinic."

Aurora clinic was part of the Aurora group the only reason for them to be in this city is that it was close to Aurora city. Aurora group was a conglomerate that had a lot of health and education institutions all around North-America and had some presence in Europe. They even had their own city where their central university and investigations take place. This was the university I was in and where Dr. Harting was a professor.

Ian continued talking.

"She came here because they need help, they are under the assault of the beasts from the east and from their information it will only get worse."

A gasp of surprise was heard all around when they mentioned the beast attack. I, on the other hand, was thinking about something completely different…

Is this why Dante told me to stay?...
