Lightsaber?

I was given a room to board in the temple. I was also awarded the rank of Jedi Knight. As making me padawan was seen as pointless by Yoda. He said I would have been made a Master if I wasn't unfamiliar with the Jedi ways.

Which I am interested to learn. The Lightsaber that Jedi use is also interesting. It would be exciting if I could have my own. Must I ask to be taught how to make one? Or will they cover that?

I was assigned a partner to help me assimilate and get comfortable in the Order. Who would be Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn. Who has recently taken on his first padawan, Obi-wan Kenobi.

They day after my induction into the Order. I was to meet Master Jinn and Padawan Kenobi in the Archives/Library.

I soon found myself walking to the duo in with my staff in hand. I gave them a greeting smile, "Hello Master Jinn and Padawan Kenobi. I am sorry to trouble you and appreciate your care."

Jinn smiled back, "No problem at all Knight Evermoor. I am happy to be of assistance to you. You may call me Qui-Gon. I am aware you are thousands of lifetimes my elder. Which I believe is enough to justify familiarity."

I chuckle, "Then you may call me Ambrose."

Qui-Gon then introduces his Padawan, "This young man is my Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You may call him as you wish."

Obi-Wan gives Qui-Gon a slightly exasperated look with a smirk.

I laugh, "Then I will call you Kenobi, I quite like that name. You may call me Mr. Evermoor. Calling me Knight Evermoor when I look like some dusty old man in robes sounds awkward, don't you think."

Kenobi agrees, "I can hear the awkwardness Mr. Evermoor."

 Qui-Gon speaks, "Well, now to begin. I'm sure you've reviewed the Jedi code. What do you think about it?"

I hum, "Well, it is all well and good. Except about emotions. Discarding them in favor of impartial and cold compassion has never ended well. I worry that Jedi suppress or bottle up strong emotions rather than understanding and making peace with them. Controlling emotions rigidly will lead to a Jedi breaking under enough pressure I imagine."

Qui-Gon smiled, "Quite right Ambrose. Now we move on. Follow me."

I followed him with Kenobi coming up behind us. He was pondering what I said it seems.

"Where are we going?", I asked as I followed.

Jinn simply said, "Take a look at some old kyber crystals in artifact storage."

I raise an eyebrow, "Why? I thought Jedi went on a little adventure to get their crystals?"

He nods, "Well, yes. However, Master Yoda informed me that no kyber crystal on Illum would be choose you. So we're going to see if any kyber crystal in the artifact storage could be used by you. Your unique state of being has you extremely closely connected to death. Only crystals with special properties could be usable by you."

The explanation makes sense, "I suppose I would require something uncommon."

We reached and entered the artifact storage. Kenobi did not follow us inside though. Only masters and knights with permission can enter. As dark artifacts that cannot be safely destroyed or kept for some other reason reside here. I could feel their ugliness, but it is nothing compared to what I have known...so far.

We came to a section full of only kyber crystals. Many colors and sizes were before me.

Jinn says, "Feel free to look them all over and see if you feel a connection to one."

I nod and walk forward to look at the crystals in cases, on pedestals, and wall mounts.

I pass over many, but stop at one. A thick crystal, round like an oval, quite smooth too. It was pitch black but there was a wispy white light in the middle that flickered and brightened the closer I was to it.

I opened the case it was in and held out my hand. The crystal floated and then landed gently in my palm.

I look back at Qui-Gon with a wide smile, "I have my crystal Master Jinn, haha. Now what?"

He smiles back, "Now we get you to build your lightsaber Knight Evermoor."
