I woke up feeling strangely energetic, like I had been on "low power mode" for the last 3 years. I had a suspicion as to why but I didn't want to get my hopes up too high. I told myself that I was just feeling good on my second 18th birthday. After brushing my teeth and taking a shower I went to go get my breakfast, which I would get pancakes with for my birthday. After finding Tate and sitting down next to him I asked him the question that was on my mind all of yesterday evening and night. "Where the hell've you been Tate?" "What do you mean?" He asked. "I mean I couldn't find you last night, I thought you found a girl and were gone for good. Then I remembered what you looked like and went back to doing what I was doing." "Haha funny guy, I was actually getting you this."
He handed me a potion of life. Potions of life gave you full health and an instant recovery including broken bones and severed limbs. These were very valuable and hard to make or come by. Seeing as I was turning 18 before any of the other guard apprentices, I decided to set the best example I could. I would make Tate proud if it was the last thing I ever did.
After breakfast with Tate I decided to go ahead with my regular routine, even one missed day could lead you off track. I practiced my combat alone today because James was on duty. I tried some new moves while feeling energetic today. I felt like a combat expert at the end of my training which I cut short to go see the goddess. Lydia was around my age in my previous life and she was more beautiful than any girl I ever met on Earth. I was head over heels for her but she had no interest in me. Seeing as how I turned 18 today I was gonna see her and ask her out as I had finally hit the age of adulthood.
After knocking on her door three times she responded "come in Art." I walked in to a bunch of papers piled up on her desk and her hard at work. I cut to the chase and told her "I've turned 18 today I'm pretty sure. I've waited to see if I had access to the system because I wanted you to be there in case anything odd happens." She understood right away what I meant. She knew something was strange about my ability and adeptness, my skills were surely to reflect on that. I didn't want the wrong people seeing my stats and Lydia's office was the perfect privacy. "I understand what you mean Art. Just say 'open' and your stats should shine blue in the space in front of you. If you misremembered your birthday nothing will come up but if you actually have turned 18 you will see your stats."
"Open" I said out loud.
