The Surface

Darkness absorbed the landscape, all is silent except for the occasional wolf calling out to the moon. The moon responded with soothing light that softened the soul. As I breathed in the fresh air I got a boost of adrenaline, and I booked it for the vast forest surrounding The Lab. Sadly the blueprints don't mention the way out of the land surrounding the facility. I ran as fast and as long as I could, I followed the sound of running water until I came across a river. The river was relatively calm compared to the water that flows through the hydro-plant in The Lab. It was shallow enough to cross, but deep enough to drown. I pulled up my pants and began my trek. The water was refreshing but still chilled me to the core. The riverbed was muddy and gave the water an extra half foot in depth. I could almost taste the sand on the opposing bank and, Bang!! a bullet struck my hand seething with pain.
