Chapter 8

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

( AN: Minor warning, I am terrible at keeping dates, and track of such things, so from now on I'll only mention it when it's required. There will also be a few time skips, as school, be it magical or not, can be quite boring to read and write about. )

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1991, September 1st.

After hours of talking, and a small break to eat a lot of magical candies and collect chocolate frog cards, of which he was quite satisfied with the result as he got Morgana Le Fay and Rowena Ravenclaw from the chocolate frogs. Something that Harry made fun of was the coincidence of him getting those cards, and when both Hermione and Ron gave the both of them confused looks, he could only grin in mischief.

''I haven't introduced myself fully, have I? Especially since Harry keeps calling me Max, instead of using my actual name.'' He says and at Harry's shrug, he could only sigh. ''My full name is quite long, so I'll spare you all and just say why it is funny that I got Le Fay and Ravenclaw's cards.'' He said before he grinned widely.

''I am the Heir of Le Fay & Ravenclaw!'' He said excitedly and laughed at their reactions, Harry only smiled at this, though his excitement died out quickly as Hermione started bombarding him with a lot of questions, and how he could even be the Heir of Le Fay and Ravenclaw if he wasn't human. After all, he told them he wasn't a half-breed, but a pureblooded High Eladrin. And at that, he could only wryly smile as he came up with a lie on the spot.

''Y'know, Le Fay, has Fay in her name for a reason. She's a vague descendant of Elves. All her relatives might've died in the material plane, but that doesn't mean that there weren't any Elves in the Feywild that carried her blood in them. I'm just a lucky elf to have said blood.'' He explained to Hermione, and she looked somewhat satisfied with the answer before she frowned.

''What about Ravenclaw? She doesn't have anything to do with Fairies or Elves. How can you be related to her?'' She questioned, and he could only shrug his shoulders before he gave his honest thoughts.

''She had a daughter named Helena, and she wasn't exactly a good person. I'm guessing that whoever still had Morgana's blood in them, might've spent a night with her. Though, that's only theory crafting. Unless you want to ask her ghost, but I don't think she would answer you willingly…'' He trailed off at the end as he remembered she was an actual ghost, that lived in Hogwarts.

'Hmmph… Maybe I could use her for something? I mean, she's a ghost, and her knowledge would be magnificently useful. Maybe if I craft a phylactery and put her soul in it, she would be able to take a physical form, or would I need to craft one for her? Questions, and questions. I'll have to meet her first though. Can't be making plans and assumptions that she would help me because we are related by blood.' Maxi thought before he shelved the idea for later.

''You don't know? But how could you not? If you did a blood status test, doesn't it show you your descendants?'' Hermione asked, and he had to do a kind of, hand motion.

''They'll tell you who you are a descendant of, sure. But it only tells you up to your Great-great-grandparents. Any further than that, and the magic used to conduct the test apparently can't tell you actual names. It also doesn't help that my bloodline would've probably turned into squibs, muggles, or half-bloods. I'm the only ''Pureblooded'' member and the only member alive of both families. And, well, the descendants of both families weren't really documented at all, so there's that as well.'' Maxi explained and shrugged at the end, and Hermione nodded in understanding.

Ron, meanwhile seemed to be conflicted about these facts. Mostly due to the fact he was a Le Fay, a name associated with only Dark Witches and Wizards. But him also being a descendant of Ravenclaw, makes him confused if he would be evil like how the Le Fay's were said to be. After all, Ravenclaw was one of the founders of Hogwarts, and she was never shown in a bad light like Morgana or Mordred Le Fay were.

Though they would have to shelf such a conversation for a later date, as the train finally stopped at the station, and just peaking from the windows, Maxi was already surprised at the sheer size of Hogwarts. He would've spent a few minutes appreciating the view if he could, but hearing Hagrid's voice calling for the first years to gather around him, made him get up and leave the compartment.

The soon-to-be Golden Trio had to get their luggage out of the compartment, but different from them, Maxi had all of his luggage delivered earlier today by his House Elves. So, besides having a magical ''bag of holding'' on his belt, and a book that he pulled out of said bag tucked beneath his arm, he needn't carry anything.

Getting off the train, he could see the small mob of students from various years getting around, and even if he was still in his Spring State, which made him more sociable, the sheer amount of people still caused his anxiety to rise.

And that only raised even more when they clearly noticed his race. Not being comfortable with the stares, he didn't even care, as he Fey Stepped towards Hagrid's direction. Disappearing in a minor explosion of flowers, and then reappearing in a different place shocked a lot of the students, especially the half-giant as he appeared just a few feet away from him.

''Ah, watch out for where you goin' lad. Almost gave me a scare!'' Hagrid said as he looked at him, and Maxi had to crane his neck to look him in the eyes.

''I guess you are indeed a half-giant…'' Maxi muttered before scratching his head. ''Sorry. I don't do well in big crowds. I don't usually Step unless I want to get somewhere faster.'' He said and Hagrid only nodded, and at his curious expression, he quickly told him about his race, though he told him a little bit more, like his Season's affecting his mood, and the fact he has some innate magic.

''That's fine, lad. As long ye don't go usin' it to harm students, it's fine by me.'' Hagrid commented before he focused back on gathering the first years.

Soon enough, they were on a boat, and going through the lake. Everyone had shocked looks at the castle, but to Maxi, who has seen Le Fay Castle in all its glory, wasn't that surprising. It would be something he would remember for the rest of his life, but he wouldn't say it was that spectacular. It was pretty, yes, fascinating even, and bewitching. But he was a High Eladrin.

He has seen and made things much more beautiful than a simple castle. Even if it was majestically made, and the sheer size was something to write home about.

'Maybe I should sell some of my paintings? I haven't really done anything with them, besides it being a hobby to relax. Eh, I'll think more about it after I'm sorted. Probably Ravenclaw, or at least I fucking hope I am. I can't be bothered with having to deal with Slytherins. Gods know that I will kill one of the kids because they annoyed me.' Maxi thought before they finally crossed over the lake.

Hagrid guided them to the castle's entrance before leaving them as he had things to do. So that left them walking through the corridor and climbing a few stairs before meeting Professor McGonagall. Just now, Maxi realizes that their entrance almost mimicked the scene that was shown in the first movie, and as the Professor began welcoming them, and talking about the houses, Maxi briefly wondered if there was such a thing as fate and destiny.

Though given the fact Neville didn't interrupt McGonagall's explanation to get his frog, made him believe that things could be changed, and Canon might not happen at all.

'I just hope I don't get roped into the plot. I have plans, a few requiring me to participate in the plot, but I want to do it willingly and not be forced to do so. Got a lot of things to do, and prepare, counting the fact I'll need to attend classes and many of my plans will be delayed or needed to be left for another time. Though this reminds me, I should be able to get the Basilisk at the Chamber of Secrets, that is if the thing hasn't gone insane. Would be a crying shame to kill it, even if the ingredients from one would be quite nice. But it would be nice for Sattra to have a friend that she can relate to.' And as Maxi thought of this, McGonagall soon finished her speech.

It went exactly as the one in the movie. Talking about the houses, rule-breaking, and a few other things. Done speaking, she led them to the great hall, though before that Draco tried becoming buddies with Harry, made fun of Ron for being poor, and offered his hand in helping him tell who he should associate with.

Now, he will be completely honest. Draco was not a character he hated, even now, seeing the scene play out, he can't muster any hatred for the boy. So he decided to help the little ''dragon'', though that would have to wait until after dinner.

McGonagall led them through the halls before they arrived at the great hall to be sorted. The entire thing went as it did in the movie, though he got the attention of a few of the professors and Dumbledore himself. Though he assumed it was because they have never seen a member of his species before, as many in the hall were also looking at him, and murmuring about him.

He talked about the third floor being off limits, and anyone would be finding a most gruesome death if they went there, or something. He wasn't paying attention.

Soon enough, the sorting ceremony began and people's names were called out. After a few minutes of the sorting hat shouting out, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, or Hufflepuff as it was put on the kid's heads, it soon became his turn.

The hat didn't even wait for his name to be called out before he loudly shouted.

''RAVENCLAW!'' The Sorting Hat proclaimed loudly, and as Maxi stood midway to the seat, he only awkwardly shrugged.

''I didn't doubt it, but it's nice I got Ravenclaw.'' He murmured loud enough for everyone to hear before the Ravenclaw table clapped.

Weirdly enough, he noticed that the sorting hat, had interrupted his full name, and the people only heard McGonagall saying ''Maxi Heikecrux Raubvogel-'' before the hat had interrupted her. Though giving a glance at the hat, he got the feeling it was intentional.

Maxi could only shrug at the whole affair, as he didn't care if people knew he was the Heir to Ravenclaw or Le Fay. Though he didn't doubt everyone would know about it, as he had to correct the teachers when they inevitably called him out or something.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the sorting ceremony, Dumbledore allowed the feast to begin. Soon enough, Maxi and Harry sat at their own table and started getting bombarded with questions. His own were mostly about his race, his interests, and a whole lot of stuff which he quickly brushed off as he said he was too hungry to answer questions. Thankfully, all the Ravenclaws seemed to notice he wouldn't be talking anytime soon and left him alone. So besides a few innocent questions, like asking where the classrooms were, who taught what, and who was the head of the houses, Maxi surprisingly found himself enjoying his time talking with his fellow Ravenclaws.

It helped he didn't need to act their age, and could freely speak his mind. Most of them not finding it that hard to keep track of what he meant. It was also quite a surprise when they learned he liked a lot of music styles, especially Muggle music. Though all the girls at his table started bombarding him with questions when he said he personally met the Hex Girls.

He knew they were a famous band, but being suddenly bombarded with questions about them, by practically half of the girls on his table was harrowing. Thankfully, he somehow maneuvered the topic and changed it to be about magical animals that they would like to ride.

''I would love to ride a Dragon or Hippogriff. They are such majestic beasts.'' Maxi said as he thought about said beasts.

''You would want to ride a dragon! Those things would burn you before they let you anywhere near them, or stab you with their poisonous tail!'' Gwil, a Welsh boy, exclaimed and Maxi could only huff at his reply.

''I don't want to ride a Wyvern! They aren't dragons! Dragons are four-legged reptilian creatures that can breathe a variety of elements, mostly commonly fire, with two wings. Those so-called ''dragons'' you speak of are Wyverns. Two-legged, with two wings, and a poisonous tail. And only capable of breathing fire. And even if they are related, you don't compare them at all! True Dragons can reach amazing heights, while Wyverns never grow more than 20 feet high. The highest Wyvern ever recorded was a member of an already big subspecies, that is of the Draco Africanus, at only 23'5'' feet high. And that was recorded 223 years ago! Dragons only grow bigger the older they get, and have been said to be possible to grow a whopping 100 feet+!'' Maxi hotly explained to the boy who shrank on himself.

''Woah, calm down there. He didn't mean anything by it. Also, you are changing colors?'' Said a female voice, and as Maxi turned to see who it was, he was slightly surprised.

''Ah, sorry. My seasons tend to affect my emotions… That's what causes my color changes, by the way.'' Maxi said before he apologized to the boy, and then gestured to himself, as he started slowly changing into his Summer State as he heatly explained the difference between dragons and wyverns.

''Really? But then why were you green, and changed to gold? Shouldn't it be red for autumn? I'm Penelope Clearwater, by the way.'' The now named Penelope asked, and he could only shrug in reply.

( AN: I forgot the actual colors of his seasons, so please forgive me if I changed them. I'll probably re-read the earlier chapters and correct them later, but for now, just bear with it. Future AN: I just had my Fic cover made, so just use that as the example for his winter state I'm too lazy to go back and edit it.)

''Eladrins have a season that they are most comfortable in. My own season is that of Winter. Meaning you would find me looking like a blueberry by how blue I am, alongside white colors. Spring was the state that I was before, a mix of various greens. And Summer is a mix of yellow-goldish colors. Autumn, is indeed red, but orange is also in the mix. And the reason why I am now golden is that all Eladrins can change their seasons whenever they want. Be it willingly, or by their emotions.'' He explained to Penelope and the rest of Ravenclaw, of which it seemed they understood his brief explanation.

Soon enough the questions died out, and they began eating earnestly. He had to admit, the food was quite good, and filling, even if it was British cuisine. After they had eaten, their prefects began leading them to Ravenclaw Tower, and after climbing a spiraling staircase, one of the prefects answering the riddle of the bronze eagle-shaped knocker, they were finally allowed into Ravenclaw's common room.

And Maxi felt extremely at home. It was spacious, and even if the blues and bronzes weren't his favorite colors he had to admit they fitted extremely well. Being led to their respective dormitories, he released a sigh of relief as he saw that everyone had a private room.

He didn't like the idea of sharing bedrooms, like the Gryffindors. That would be a nightmare.

He quickly found his own room, and after opening the door he was once again pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and high-quality the room was.

''Caw!''

''Ah, Týr! How are you, my friend? Did they treat you well during the move? Have you explored the grounds?'' Maxi said and asked as he neared his bearded vulture to pet him.

''Caw!'' Was Týr's response, and Maxi nodded in understanding.

''I see. This place is truly gigantic, isn't it? *Sigh*, It's unfortunate that Sattra cannot see for herself Hogwarts. That'll have to wait until we deal with the snake problem…'' Maxi said and trailed off as he noticed a key on top of a nightstand.

Picking it up, it had the same number as his room's door. It didn't take a genius to figure it was his room's key, so, after locking the door, he pocket it inside his ''Bag of Holding''.

''I wish I could actually craft those things. *Sigh*, but I have no clue how to even begin. Maybe if I start with the extension charms? The RoR should let me find the books that I seek.'' He said as he began forming a rudimentary plan to begin another research project.

But the yawn that escaped his mouth made it clear it would be best to leave it, for after the first day of classes. Petting Týr one last time, and wishing the big bird a goodnight, Maxi slipped under the covers of his bed, and closed his eyes. He grunted at how firm the mattress seemed compared to the absolutely divine one he had back at Le Fay castle but he guessed he couldn't expect such a good mattress everywhere he sleeps.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I finished this chapter like a day or two after mass releasing the other 7 chapters. That's mostly because I was debating on either writing this chapter to be longer, or just split it into two. You can guess what I decided to do, considering this is sadly only around 3k words (not counting AN's), instead of my average 5K. But, beggars can't be choosers, and I feel like this will be better as I can focus the other chapter solely to his first day and escapades in Hogwarts.
