Chapter 37 First Quest(7)

Activating [Demon's Pride], Alex lunged at the Chieftain clashing the [Crimson Fang] against it's giant cleaver.

They swung at each other fiercely not wanting to give the other the upper hand but it was obvious that the Chieftain was losing. Even though it blocked all of Alex's attacks it was still being burnt by Alex's fiery aura and although it tried to block out the pain it eventually caught up to the tenacious monster. The monster's skin was sizzling as scent of burnt flesh filled Alex's nostrils making him want to vomit. Barbecued goblin did not smell good. Clashing with the monster, Alex tried to stay close to the monster while the monster did it's best to push him back until Alex finally was able to land a clean blow. With a swing of his sword he was able to land a wound on the monsters wrist leaving a deep cauterized wound. With a deep wound in it's wrist the monster lost efficiency to wield it's blade with it's left hand and it didn't take long for Alex to land another one.

Alex cut open one of the tendons on the creature's right hand causing it to drop it's giant cleaver. Furiously, the Goblin Chieftain lunged at Alex bearing it's fangs and claws but Alex easily dodged and slashed it's achilles tendon rendering it immobilized on the ground. Walking over towards the Goblin Chieftain Alex held his sword on his shoulder. As it came down from it's berserker rage it stared at Alex with fear in it's eyes.

But before it could try and ,fruitlessly, plead for it's life Alex plunged his sword into it's skull. Alex let out a relieved sigh at finally vanquishing his foe but then he suddenly tensed, then relaxed and then he turned around looking at the three scared hobgoblins trembling on the side.

Around twenty minutes later, Chris, Alice and Bayal walked out of their hiding place to see Alex staring at them while playing with five light green cores in his hand. Looking around they saw the corpses of the hobgoblins and the Goblin Chieftain, they couldn't help but shudder as they saw them. These monsters were considered extremely powerful and hard to kill monsters by explorers and even if they managed to kill them it would incur heavy casualties and yet Alex managed to beat them on his own.

Walking over the group gave Alex their thanks for helping them and then left him to rest.

For his reward he got 1000 exp and an F ranked arnament called [Vine]. The rewards were kind of lackluster compared to the last time.

The appearance of the arnament was as underwhelming as it's enchantments. It looked like a regular green,thornless vine with nothing extraordinary about it. With a sigh of disappointment, Alex placed the arnament back into his [Mana Pool].

Around an hour later, the portal appeared but no one entered opting to wait for the rest of the party to arrive. Seeing the rest of the party appearing at the village entrance Alex walked through the portal leaving the dungeon.
