This was a new experience for Yves in the virtual arena, where he'd only faced male opponents before.
When Yves reflected on his earlier matches, he had assumed that the virtual arena was predominantly male-dominated.
"I guess I was wrong." he thought to himself, realizing that there must be plenty of women competing in the virtual arena.
Perhaps he had simply been placed in a queue with mostly men during the classic matches.
Or maybe the gender ratio was heavily skewed, with ten men for every woman. Who could say for sure?
Regardless, Yves wasn't concerned about the gender of his opponent. Whether they were male or female didn't matter to him. What mattered was winning and gaining as much experience as possible.
After all, what's in a 'gender' when it comes to combat? It wouldn't make a difference if Yves could just outmaneuver his opponent and secure victory. That wasn't what he was after.
"Who cares if my opponent is a beauty?"
