Chapter 276: Cruel World and Introductions

"You always did have such a beautiful voice" the cherubim said while snickering. The cherubim began chanting, his words were melodious but impossible to understand, each head spoke different things but they all ended up with the same meaning.

Under the sound of the dark and deep chants the worms began to consume Melgia more ferociously. They then stopped and morphed into his muscles, skin and bone causing him to begin to regenerate as their numbers reduced. Melgia's arms, heart and chest grew again but he knew they were not his.

Melgia's confusion intensified as he began to lose control over his body limb by limb. He eventually lost all control and his soul floated out of his body. The only people who could see his soul were the cherubim because of his privilege as a Grim Reaper that allowed him consume souls and the Crossroad Titan because her abilities allowed her to see souls. To others, Melgia just went limp.

The dark energy in the environment coiled and twisted around the soul in complex ways under the voice of the cherubim as he completed the spell Create Soul Drupe. The grey matter that formed the soul turned red like lava in the dark cavern.

The cherubim smiled wickedly as his IP told him 'You have killed a Rank 27 Ancestral Demon'.

The cherubim looked at the Crossroad Titan and asked "Now that I have this power, will I be able to overcome the obstacle? Does it give me a chance at least?"

The 3 heads of the Titan stared blankly at the cherubim before answering "No, your loss is inevitable" to the cherubim's chagrin.

"Now the first on our list of discussions; introductions. After that we'll discuss the rules of coexistence that we must abide by. Next is the sharing of information, this involves any general announcement to discussions about things you've observed. After that is the discussion on the future of our alliance. These are the most important discussions. There are various activities that will take place after that.

In the introduction, you are to give your full name, a summary of your history before the apocalypse, your current race and job, and any other information you wish to give about yourself. I'll start by introducing myself. My name is Avatari Nikhil. I was a doctor of philosophy researching the influence on music on the mind before the apocalypse. I am currently a Principal Cherubim and my job is Guardian Angel. I am the CEO of Halo, a fabrication company that makes anything from drugs to weapons. I knew the apocalypse was going to happen before it did so I was prepared, we can discuss how I knew latter. If you are highlighted in green light you should speak".

Some people were shocked by Avatari's last reveal while some were amused and called her a Mafia Angel, since she dealt with drugs and weapons. Afterwards, many of the people groaned at the one by one introductions of each of the 708 individuals in the island.

Not all introductions where on the same level though. Most of the people where just normal people before the apocalypse, only between 5 – 6 where government officials though a good amount of the people here where military officers before the apocalypse.

The introductions began to get interesting when someone said a half-truth about their past history. The crystal in the center turned red and suspicious gazes fell on the person. The person latter confessed that she was a drug dealer and smuggler posing as a security officer before the apocalypse.

No one really cared for the person since they didn't feel strongly about the crime but they became certain of Avatari's deceit sensing means. The introductions continued normally and a few criminals came up. Some of the crimes caused people to glare at the previous criminals, one of them being Samuel, an Original Vampire from Night City, Mira's friend and mentor during her stay there. He was a kidnapper and human trafficker before the apocalypse. His crimes where harder to stomach to the people here and many of them did not want to see him continue without punishment but they kept their thoughts within; this was still the introduction section.

The introduction of the horned man that had now turned into a golden dragon was quite interesting. He said "I am the form of Chaos called Gog. I was nothing before the apocalypse. I was one of Liliang Yu's spawn before the WW3 event. My current race is Chaos Dragon and my job is Apex Predator as you all know. I somehow acquired the memories of some humans that tried to kill me."

Many people where not happy that the highest Ranked creature on earth was a monster but they kept their complaints for now.

Next came the most interesting group of people, the water people. Length just happened to be the first among them to be introduced. "I am called Eldest Length now but was called Length before by the merfolk. I do not have a deep attachment to names.

"Before the apocalypse I lived. After the apocalypse, I continue to do the same. I protect the merfolk since they help me out. I am responsible for a few of your myths and for the disappearance of some of your ships and flying metal bird figures… what were they again, airplanes. I accidentally sucked some of them up. I apologize for the lives I may have ended; I could not control my size then.

"My race is Leviathan and my job is Sea Guardian. I am the oldest life form I know"

Many eyes went to the crystal stage but it didn't light up proving everything Length said was truth. Avatari was the most shocked by this information since she knew how the crystal worked; even if Length's soul was implanted with false memories that made him believe he was telling the truth without a doubt the crystal would shine orange to indicate that.

After him a few merfolk introduced their selves and people got the general perspective that they were not too fixed on names and none of them were criminals.

For a while the highlighter stopped highlighting merfolk and some previous humans introduced themselves. Things got interesting again when Hayley introduced herself. "My name is Hayley. I worked at a pharmaceutical before the apocalypse. My race is the Deviant: Clown race, very rare, and I have the Equivocator job. I did some really horrible things to Mr. Chao Feng there; I hope he'll forgive me so that we can be friends".

Most people already knew about what happened to Chao Feng, fewer knew of Hayley's name. But what made her introduction really weird was the red shining crystal at the center of the seating arrangement: it indicated that everything she said was a lie, even though her last reveal was certainly the truth.
