The battle of the bloody rock valley part 4

The most fierce battle was between the soldiers being led by Berig and the soldiers and knights of the black sun and the Plangent siblings. An extremely bloody battle where neither wanted to give an inch.

The soldiers that were being led by Berig had been molded by him personally to be cold and even make suicidal charges if commanded. The fear of punishment for cowardice from Berig gave them enough motivation. None questioned their officers and the warriors with divine powers fought with utter inhumanity.

Many of the prince's Varangians had been with him for years through many battles and campaigns. They had sharpened their skills in warfare through countless battles and were used to bloody combat.

Edward and Joan were not just the knights of the black sun, but the human soldiers of the kingdom of Fairfax. They had also been in many battles, some from the Etna campaign and conflict in the Saxon forest. Some even had fought against Rufus while being led by Rikard Plangent, years prior.

Soldiers fought with such grim determination that when swords and spears broke, men started to gouge people's eyes out in the mud. Soldiers strangled each other in the mud, and all were allowed, from biting to hitting below the belt.

Joan and Edward fought against Berig, who was stronger than before. He had lost and risen from his defeat against Rufus. But Edward and Joan had also risen to face many challenges.

Edward, from a distance, pushed his divine power to his blade and used his family technique to send a projectile attack when he swung his sword. This divine sword blasted Berig's flaming giant's torso that he had manifested, and it fell down, with Berig falling on his butt. Joan jumped in and again tried to finish off Berig. But the flaming blue eye of the avatar shot flames at her like a flamethrower.

The humanoid flaming avatar of Berig got up and summoned an extra pair of hands, both wielding weapons. It started to swing its arms around like a weed cutter, attacking anyone it could.

Joan and Edward got close and battled with their swords. The flaming axes of the giant avatar of Berig hit hard, and Joan was not fast nor strong enough to hold her own. Before the axe could kill her, Edward kicked her away and fought Berig alone. The two mighty warriors faced off each other, one controlling his flaming avatar to strike. In contrast, the other had the divine power to be a swordmaster.

Edward fought with immense strength as Joan watched. She tried to join in, but Edward yelled, "Don't! Help the knights of the black sun! I will hold him off!"

Joan then ran and helped the knights of the black sun to push the Varangian soldiers back. Like a spear, the knights went through the imperial soldiers with Joan in their lead.

Gadaric had no will to fight Maxim. His mind was full of doubt and even thoughts of regret.

"Stay focused, you assassins!" Maxim yelled as he lunged at him.

Gadaric simply blasted the knight away with one snap of his finger that created a blast of sound, equal to a cannon shot. Maxim was not hurt but enabled Gadaric to disconnect from fighting him.

He looked for prince Berig and saw he was fighting Edward. He saw that both warriors were fully concentrated on killing each other and knew he could deal a final blow as he could strike from behind without a sound. But he thought to himself.....which one.

The words of the emperor rang in his ears and doubt, the most paralyzing of feelings lingered restlessly.

Edward then dodged the flaming avatar's hand as it dried to grab him and grabbed it instead. With great force and willpower, he threw Berig and the Avatar with it on its back.

"YOU DIE NOW!" Edward yelled as he was ready to kill him.

Then a blast shot from behind Edward, saving Berig. Gadaric had unconsciously saved prince Berig and attacked Edward. He saw that Edward was not dealt with and got back up.

"Sis! Might you come and help me once more?! Kind of unmanned here!" Edward yelled and asked her sister to join.

Gadaric ran to the prince, preparing to fight Edward together with the prince.

"We will win them if we fight together, my prince," Gadaric said.

But then, a flaming hand grabbed Gadaric from behind. Edward and Joan looked as the avatar that was controlled by Berig grabbed hold of the leader of the soul watchers and slowly burnt him.

"My prince. Why are you doing this?!" Gadaric said as he was in great pain.

"Nothing personal. Just orders from the emperor," Berig said and was about to cut Gadaric with the avatar's flaming axe, but was saved by Edward.

Gadaric fell unconscious, as his cloth had burnt to a crisp. Though his face could not be seen from beneath his mask, he clearly was in great pain.

Berig rose up and reformed his Avatar. The battle continued between the Planget siblings and the heir to the imperial throne, Berig of the red rage.

The fight between Pema and Segeric went the same way as in Kairouan on the green solo moon world. Pema could not get close to Segeric as the prince's flaming armor burnt hot and bright. When he went or tried to either punch or kick Segeric, he simply blocked

His own soldiers got hurt, but it was not like he cared at all. With the same smile, he walked forward as Pema tried to find an ideal opportunity to find an opening. Each time he tried to punch or kick through the flaming armor, he only got burnt and was almost killed by Segeric's lance.

Amala was staring at Pema, hoping he would let her help.

"General Amala! We need your help!" one of the grey skin warriors yelled.

The sentinels of embers had appeared on the battlefield. With their burning swords and staff's with flaming tips, they carved a fiery way in the frontline of the grey skin army. Many fled, only to be burnt alive when a sentinel's sword merely scratched them. With just a small cut of their flaming swords, a grey skin would burst into flame or the fiery staffs would shoot fireballs to catch any fleeing enemy.

"No worries. Rufus gave us our own special forces to deal with those," Amala reassured.

One of the sentinels looked ahead, ready to kill attacking grey skin warriors, but was cut in two by a glaive. The warrior wielding the weapon was a grey skin, wearing golden and silver armor along with the typical grey skin mask. The Ghersengs, royal bodyguards of Rufus, had joined the battle.

The two elite warrior groups faced one another. Both were equally strong, and with great divine strength, the Ghersengs and Sentinels of embers started an epic battle in the middle of the battlefield.

The Ghersengs had divine powers to make them move faster and have great strength. The sentinels had been personally blessed by the emperor, giving them the ability to wield fire and flame. An epic battle began.

Above in the skies, Rufus and Satifa battled the emperor. Divine spheres exploded with fires lighting the skies as more locusts rose and flew up.

Satifa and Rufus were exhausted and breathing heavily. The queen's clothes were severely burnt, and Rufus's wings were tattered as he didn't have much energy to repair them. Meanwhile, the emperor, though hurt and even being inside a couple of exploding divine spheres, had not slowed down at all nor felt exhausted.

"I thought your divine spheres could destroy anything?" Satifa said.

"Not always. If the being is strong enough, it may not destroy them completely but still deal damage," Rufus said, recalling that once his divine sphere had not killed Berig.

Ala then summoned up a giant fireball. More enormous than what any had ever seen. Great divine powers started to gather as the coming attack would be immensely destructive.

Both Satifa and Rufus prepared for the greatest attack the emperor had not yet shown.

At that moment, a band of soldiers and grey skins came up the hill. They attacked a small allied force rear guard and left no survivors. Their leader walked forward to have a good view of the valley and the battle.

"Bring Cixilo to the front. And the tomb of the grey skin god," Markus commanded the black company soldiers.
