88 Attack of Fallen Body

"Debt Collector?!" The guard captain shouted. Meanwhile, his squad started to spread trying to surround the unwelcome visitor.

"The Downbridge family had too many sins. The time has come to reap what they have sowed." The iron-masked attacker took a bottle from under his robe. Some glowing blue liquid was inside it.

"Be careful! Surround him!" The guard captain commanded. He jumped toward the man and lead the attack. Simultaneously, his squad also closed their distance toward the man.

"The blood debt will be paid today! You are also guilty for serving this cruel family!" The attacker threw the vial at a guard. Trevon heard there was a tinge of hatred vibrated on the Debt Collector's shout.

"AAAAAAA!!!" A guard screamed. That liquid covered the unlucky guard. The Debt Collector threw more vials towards the guards. Some managed to avoid them, by jumping backward.

"Aaaaa!!!"

"AAaaa!!!"

Not everyone managed to dodge them. Two more guards received the attacks on their face. They fall to the floor and covered their face with both hands while screaming non-stop like the first victim.

"Cih... Keep pressing! He has to pay for this!" The captain used sword martial art and threw a stab toward the iron-masked man. They needed to make this mysterious man paying for injuring their brothers.

However, the Debt Collector didn't stand and wait. He jumped backward avoiding the stab, then turned his body. The attacker ran away from the complex.

"Do not run if you dare!" A guard shouted. He threw a long-range martial art. However, the Debt Collector easily jumped to avoid it.

[What is this?] Trevon was watching from the tree. [He runs away?]

"Look into the injured guards! That liquid is the special thing." Master Rabbink said.

Trevon looked into the guards.

One of the guards didn't chase the attacker. He stayed to help his fellow guards. The helping guard tried to search his pouch for medicine.

"Drink this potion!" He took a small red vial from his pouch and stretched out his hand toward one of his fellow guards.

"Guuuuaaaaahhhh!!!" The injured man screamed before he bit his friend.

"AAAaaa!! What?! What are you doing?" The man was unprepared. He punched the injured guard and jumped backward. Some blood dripped from his hand.

The injured guard looked at the helping guard. He continued to chase the helping guard with an empty face.

The helping guard took his weapon and started to protect himself. Nevertheless, his injured fellow guards kept attacking him. Worse, the other two injured guards also came and attacked him.

The helping guard finally couldn't just defend himself. He started to attack the injured guards. The battle turned one side. With a sword, he could dodge and attack the frenzied guards easily.

However, what happened next made Trevon become very afraid. The frenzied injured guards kept attacking even when they were receiving many attacks. They didn't seem to care about the injuries on their bodies. Worse even when they lost their limbs they continued attacking.

Those injured guards acted like a mindless beast. They didn't use any weapon or martial arts, but they used their teeth and bare hands to attack.

"This is brutal." Trevon thought he saw an arena battle. However, it wasn't the fun human versus human, but the deathmatch of a human and a demon beast.

He had been already depressed from watching the scary bloody battle during the beast wave. This time this Rabbink took him to watch something scary even closer. A real human versus human fighting to the death was displayed in front of him.

"Urgh..." Trevon finally believed the demon beasts in the arena were gentler. He wanted to vomit.

"Kid, you will show your position by doing that." Master Rabbink reminded. It would be unique if Trevon managed to become its first student who was killed because of vomiting.

Trevon ran into the portal which was next to him. Master Rabbink followed him toward his universe.

Trevon entered the Core Room and took a small pot from his storage ring. He vomited on the pot.

"You are a crazy Rabbink. I don't like to watch gore scene."

"You could watch the arena."

"Yes. However, I don't watch people killing using hands and teeth." Trevon had a bit phobia after the demon beast wave.

"Look! I haven't shown you the important part. This Rabbink wouldn't take you there without reason. My main body also wouldn't issue a special mission without reason."

"What is the reason?"

"Look into the monitor, then!"

Trevon went to the control panels and sat on one of the floating chairs in the room. Unlike the chair in his world, the chairs in the monitor room were floating. The young master enjoyed the feeling and had played with them to experience flying. They were controlled by his mind and very fun to use.

Using his Tablet Using skill, Trevon selected the area around the portal on the tree to be displayed in the largest monitor in the center of the room. Master Rabbink called the largest monitor as the holographic display. Trevon also felt fascinated by that. That monitor wasn't a moving painting, but moving sculptures.

He looked into the display. The helping guard was defeated by the injured guards. All fall to the floor, they looked like a dead person.

"Eh? How?" Trevon couldn't believe what he had seen. He truly believed the guards injured each other brutally. One side used a sword, while the other used bare hands and teeth. However, he saw four perfectly completed bodies.

The pursuing guards were returned to the courtyard. Some brought injured guards. Nevertheless, he didn't see the Debt Collector.

[He could escape?] Trevon couldn't believe the Debt Collector could escape from that many guards. [How?]

"More than that, they are trapped now. The formation has been fully activated. You should see it with your own eyes. This monitor is limited to the area around your portal and your core level is still too low." Master Rabbink told Trevon.

"No. I want to watch from here." Trevon looked again into the display. Watching from the Core Room had a weakness. He couldn't listen to the voice.

In the monitor, one of the guards came closer to their friends. It seemed he spoke something while shaking his friend, but Trevon couldn't hear.

"He is calling his friend." Master Rabbink could see the destiny. So, it described the event for Trevon.

However, what happened next made Trevon felt spooked.

Those frenzied guards suddenly attacked the guard again. They started to grab his legs and bite him. The other guards started to draw their weapon and tried to help their friend.

Similar to what Trevon had seen before. It was futile. The frenzied guard managed to injury their former friends. However, this time the fight was ended faster. Those many guards slashed their frenzied friends to stop them from moving.

He could see a person in an expensive robe came from hearing the noise. The captain seemed to report something, but they were dismissed.

Some guards collected the slashed bodies while the others went back to treat their injuries.

"Is this over?" Trevon asked the Rabbink.

"Nope. You missed the special effect of the liquid. Look into the holographic monitor again!"

Trevon shocked by what he saw. Those broken pieces merged and become five men with ragged clothes. They continued to attack the unprepared guards.

[Sh*t!] Trevon felt his nape hair stood. Those men were unkillable.

This continued. Trevon squeezed his chair armrest. Luckily the chair was a Celestial level artifact. He couldn't destroy the things in the Core Room or taking them outside.

While he couldn't hear, Trevon could see the other guards started to scream in pain. Even those who wasn't badly injured also suddenly fell to the floor then they had seizures. Anyone who got bitten or scratched would turn into similar frenzied humans. However, he saw there were some duration before the person fell.

"You are such a weakling." Master Rabbink commented. Most web novels had a bloody and brutal main character who killed people for breakfast, but it got a weakling as its student this time.

"This is too brutal, Rabbink. Tell me if it is over!" Trevon took Margareth and Cecillia picture again. While he couldn't be with these two beauties, at least, he could be with their pictures. [Hwehwehwe.]

Trevon was in a delusion for one hour, before Master Rabbink told him that it was over. Trevon looked into the holographic monitor.

Over fifty people were moving around. There might be more, but he couldn't see them from the portal range. Other than the guards, some maids and attendants were also turned into mindless people. A few people with good robes also had turned into mindless people.

If not because of their strange movement route and their ragged clothes, Trevon would believe if people said they were normal people.

"Are they zombies?" While Trevon had never seen one, he had read the tales of zombie in a dungeon. He also had read some apocalypse genre web novels. Those novels told about the scary and meat devouring zombie. However, these zombies didn't look scary when they were not attacking.

"They are similar but not the same. Based on the universe name, those were called Fallen Body. That liquid contained spiritual energy which turned a biological body into a fallen body." Master Rabbink said. "However, the worst isn't here. You should look with your own eyes."

"I don't want." Trevon said. If it wasn't the worst, then it would be scarier.

"Do you think these fallen bodies could defeat higher ranked cultivators?" Master Rabbink asked.

Trevon now understood. The aim was the Downbridge family.

"If you want to see a powerful cultivator against these fallen bodies, you should return to your origin universe."

Trevon felt uncertain. On one side, he wanted to watch a cultivator fight. Everyone would love to watch a cultivator fight. In the other side, it was a dangerous situation.

"I..."

"You have your portal. Are you that afraid?"

"Fine, I will watch it." Trevon used the portal to return to the tree. At worst case scenario he could run away using his portal.

[Eh?] He saw something different. The location was covered with a black dome. [What is that?]

"That is the fully activated formation. People outside couldn't enter, see, or hear what happens inside. The large formation even has camouflage formation part to hide the thing inside. You need to bump into this to feel the formation."

Trevon was silent. He felt lucky he had a portal to escape. The young master looked into the fallen bodies.

There were too many to see. No one came to the location. However, those fallen bodies seemed to patrol the location while searching one room to another.

[Are they mindless?]

"Yes. The fallen body is even worse than a zombie. They have no instinct at all and only follow an order."

"Who is ordering them?"

"That is the question for you! The show is not over." Master Rabbink said.

[You could eat during this event?]

Trevon was waiting outside when suddenly Master Rabbink said. "Look! It starts."

Trevon looked into the courtyard. A group of people with a heroic disposition came into the courtyard from one of the pavilions. It was another similar event. The fallen bodies quickly surrounded the group.

"Downbridge Sword Combination!" The family also had their own combination. Trevon had read from the guidebook that it was less powerful than the Heavenly Sword Sect's combination.

The group of elders started to separate into a group of four. Each group made a rectangle with an elder at each corner. They started to attack the fallen bodies. Behind them some family guards came to help.

They moved toward the group of fallen bodies. Those elders were powerful. Their combination sliced the fallen bodies. However, the fallen bodies were endless.

"They couldn't be killed." One of them screamed. He hacked a fallen body on his left. Those fallen bodies fell, but they regenerated again.

"Try to destroy their heads!" Another elder screamed. Yet, it was easier to say than to do. Many fallen bodies in the courtyard attacked those elders without stop.

An elder managed to decapitate a fallen body. However, the fallen body kept rising again. No blood was seen from the fallen body. Only red gel appeared from the fallen body.

Another elder blasted a fallen body's head. Yet, the fallen body could regenerate while it was slower than decapitation. Those fallen bodies were weak before the powerful cultivator. Nevertheless, they were endless.

[How do you kill them?] Trevon asked. He had read many zombie novels, but these fallen bodies didn't die after they lost their heads.

"You can perform some difficult cleansing ritual to remove the liquid from the body." Master Rabbink said.

[That is impossible.] Trevon couldn't imagine a person could stop a frenzy undying monster.

"Next, you could remove the spiritual energy in the area. Without any spiritual energy, they couldn't regenerate."

[That is even more impossible. Fighting those monsters without using martial arts.] Trevon couldn't imagine he fought against those monsters without spiritual energy.

"Rank 3 or 4 warriors could, but making such formation is even harder. Gwahahaha. A Beginner Rank 4 warrior might be able to destroy them into particles that didn't allow them to regenerate."

[What is the method which is possible for me?] That was still a huge distance from him.

"Then you have to kill the person who injected the spiritual energy to the liquid. Without a controller, they were only an empty shell." Master Rabbink said in a serious tone.

[The Debt Collector?]

"The one who injected the spiritual energy to the liquid is the one who controlled the fallen body. These fallen bodies are organic puppets."

[Why are you showing me this?]

"You will know later! Do you want to help the Downbridge? You still could help them by killing the Debt Collector. Gwahahaha." Master Rabbink laughed.

[Who would fight against these monsters?] Trevon felt happy he wasn't on the ground fighting those fallen bodies.

"I am only asking."

Trevon and Master Rabbink watched the battle. Some of the elders were Rank 2 warriors. However, they didn't manage to kill any of the fallen bodies. As long as the fallen bodies still had a hand or foot, they could attack.

Some Rank 1 elders of the Downbridge family started to lose their spiritual energy. Rank 1 warrior and Rank 2 warrior had a difference in their capacity to control the spiritual energy. While most family guards of Downbridge family were either retreating or had been turned into fallen bodies.

This difference was shown in a prolonged battle.

"Ahh!!!" One of the elders finally fell into the onslaught of hundreds of the fallen bodies.

"Brother!" Some of the elders screamed, but the worst condition started to appear. The combination lost a member. Some fallen bodies used the chance to attack the blind spot of the other three in the combination. Their combination was broken.

"Ahhh!!!" Another elder fell victim. This continued with the rest elder in that small squad. Each fallen elder was mobbed with many fallen bodies.

"Gather! We need to retreat." A very old man shouted. Trevon thought the person as the family leader of the Downbridge family. From his scout ability, Trevon knew that he was the most powerful.

The elders started to retreat, but even worse condition appeared. Those four elders were turned into four fallen bodies.

Yet, these fallen bodies were far stronger than the rest. They were faster and more powerful in the term of offensive and defensive. Soon another elder fell. He also became a fallen body.

"Retreat! Retreat!" They shouted.

"Call the help from the sect!" One of them shouted. He still slashed his sword to protect himself.

"There is a powerful formation blocking any communication!" Another elder shouted. Similar to the rest he could barely protect himself. "We can't go outside."

"Ah!!!" The stronger fallen bodies started to reap more victims. Somehow those fallen bodies kept chasing the retreating elders.

[Someone must control them.] Trevon thought. [Urgh...]

Trevon moved between his universe and the place many times. He needed to vomit. It was lucky he had a pot in his storage ring. [Sigh... My decoration pot. I have to throw this pot later.]

Trevon took some time in his universe. After he returned, he saw very few elders survived. All were Rank 2 warriors.

"It is impossible. Are you sure that you don't want to help?" Master Rabbink asked.

[Absolutely!] Trevon wasn't a hero. Even Rank 2 warriors were in danger from the fallen bodies.

The Debt Collector suddenly appeared. "Heoheoheo. You must not imagine today event Downbridge Family."

"Who are you?" One of the elders shouted while he tried to keep the fallen bodies from injuring him.

"I am the Debt Collector. Heoheoheo."

"What abomination have you done?"

"You should ask the same question yourself. I only collect your blood debt. All your branches in this city also had a similar attack. Heoheoheo."

"What is our fault?" The person which Trevon imagined as the family leader asked. "Our family is warrior family. We never fear death. However, we deserved at least to know the reason. We, the Downbridge, had many enemies. Which master did we offend?"

"This is a debt of thirty years." The Debt Collector looked into the struggle of the people below.

"We don't know about that!"

"You might have forgotten it. However, I can't. Every night my family screamed for help. Heoheoheo."

Those elders tried to attack the Debt Collector, but the fallen bodies stopped them. Another fighting continued on the pavilion. A few Rank 2 warriors fought thousands of fallen bodies.

Trevon tried to use his Scout skill toward the Debt Collector.

[What is this?] Trevon had never seen something like this to someone else. The question mark would only appear if he scouted himself in the mirror.

"That is the universe's secret. You need to master the destiny path if you want to peek into the hidden secret."

Trevon looked into the mysterious Debt Collector again.

[Do you know who the Debt Collector is?]

"Yup. However, this Rabbink couldn't directly help you."

[Eh? Directly help me?]

"I couldn't help you if it is about your destiny test." Master Rabbink said. "This Rabbink could only slightly warn you. Look into the battle! It might be useful for you."

[...] Trevon fell into some thought.

Trevon looked into the battle, one by one the Rank 2 Downbridge elders finally fall. There were more fallen bodies and they were also contained fallen bodies from Downbridge family elders. This allowed the Debt Collector to really collect his debt.

"Find the family descendant! Kill the rest! I haven't seen the younger generations." Trevon heard the voice again. He was sure that voice was fake. The voice wasn't a man or a woman. A blue glow appeared on the Debt Collector body.

[Mystical Art!] Trevon could only imagine that.

The fallen bodies started to move into various rooms. They attacked everything that they could find. Some scream could be heard in other parts of the complex.

Trevon still hid in the tree. The Debt Collector also stood on a roof in the courtyard. He seemed to stand in place. However, Trevon could see his body glowed with blue light several times. Meanwhile, the fallen bodies continued to search the place around. [He must be controlling the fallen bodies.]

[Should I attack him?] Trevon thought of his option. However, he decided against it. There were too many fallen bodies roamed in the building complex.

"Found you! Heoheoheo!" The Debt Collectors jumped toward a pavilion. Some fallen bodies made from Downbridge family elders followed the iron-masked attacker inside.

Trevon couldn't see what happened inside. However, he only needed to wait a few minutes before some screams heard.

"No!!!!"

Trevon remembered this voice. This was Fourcaut's voice. After that, multiple shouts could be heard from the same pavilion.

A few minutes later, horrified mostly common people and females were brought into the courtyard. Trevon saw them from far away. The elders must have tried to evacuate their descendant trough secret passageway. However, it seemed they couldn't escape.

[They haven't run away?]

"This formation blocks everything in the area. You can't fly or tunnel through it." Master Rabbink solemnly said. "This is the last chance to save them."

[I can't save them and I don't want.] Trevon was afraid. There were too many fallen bodies on the complex. They were the former people who lived in the complex. Some seemed weak but there were many cultivators.

Those captured people were brought outside. It wasn't a fight. Trevon also could see that the fallen bodies weren't all about fighting. Those fallen bodies also didn't attack the Debt Collector. All pointed their hand at the captives preparing to attack.

Forty-three young masters and ladies were captured. Other than them, some ladies and family servants who carried some babies also taken outside. All were taken into the middle of a courtyard.

[Those must be the wives and juniors of Downbridge family.] Trevon could see Fourcaut, some younger generations, and even Rainheard in the group.

"What should I do with you?" The Debt Collector said. His voice was still fake. However, Trevon felt Debt Collector's voice had some elation.

The iron-masked attacker looked towards his captives.

Some young ladies started to cry. Trevon could see some were peeing. He realized his eyesight was far better. The young master could see the small details. [Is this from Job passive bonus?]

"Similar to what Downbridge and the others had done to me, everyone will die except one." The Debt Collector looked to his captives. "The person could drink a poison. You can find the antidote in the sect. Heoheoheo." A fake voice filled with hatred came from the Debt Collector.

Trevon had to go back to his own universes. The next scene was too brutal for him. Brothers and sisters were fighting for survival. He had heard those captives began by questioning the Debt Collector's promise. Some cursed him, however, a person finally started to kill.

The fight turned into a chaos. Dead people were clawed by the Fallen Bodies turned into them one by one.

[Tell me when it is over!] Trevon didn't dare to watch. He thought about what the Debt Collector said. [He said that Downbridge and the others had done to him?]

Trevon waited in his Core Room until Master Rabbink called him. "There is the last man standing."

Trevon looked into the monitor. Yet, he couldn't see anything from it. His portal position was a bit further. He finally went back to his origin universe.

Trevon saw the last man standing. It was Fourcaut. Next to him was the dead body of Rainheard.

"Congratulations! This is a common poison. If you can find the antidote, you could survive." The Debt Collector threw a vial to Fourcaut.

Fourcaut accepted it. His hand was shaking. He opened the vial, but he didn't drink it.

"Do not worry! You can find the antidote in the sect. Heoheoheo."

Fourcaut drank the poison. He turned a bit pale.

The Debt Collector clapped his hand. The formation disappeared. While all fallen bodies and the blood on the complex turned into blue liquid before they were gone like smoke leaving tattered clothes and weapons. Only sword scratches on the wall and broken furniture showed the struggle a few hours before.

"Go! You have five hours from now. Do not let me see you again! You will die the next time. Heoheoheo."

Fourcaut looked at the Debt Collector with hatred and fear. He ran toward the courtyard exit. Trevon couldn't see him anymore.

The Debt Collector kept his promise. He didn't chase the battered young master and jumped from the courtyard into the rooftop.

"Eh?" The Debt Collector stopped in his track. He looked in Trevon's direction. "Who are you?"

[Sh*t! He found me.]
