CHAPTER 8

ARCHER'S POV

The door swung wide open and no one could contend their curiosity as we all looked up and all the other guys began ogling her again. I shook my head and returned to my work. It doesn't matter anyway. Declan had sent his partner over to my seat so she could sit with him. What a glorious world. Being far from her would help me focus on my school work and not concentrate on her.

"I would really not appreciate your late coming miss Hazel" Mr Anthony said.

" I'm sorry sir. Got stuck up with something at home." She replied.

He sighed. " It's okay. Go to your seat "

She walked up to my chair and stood facing the timid girl named Betty Smith whom Declan sent to be my partner.

"Hello." Hazel called to her. Betty slowly looked up at her. " You are in my chair."

"I'm sorry... I..Mr Anthony asked me to take this chair. He switched us that's your new chair there. " She said pointing towards Declan and he winked at her. Hazel frowned at him.

"Any problem miss Hazel? Don't have a seat?" Mr Anthony asked.

Hazel turned to him." Sir. Did you switch my seat with her." She said pointing towards Betty. Mr Anthony frowned at Betty.

"No. What are you doing there Betty? How many times have I warned you students about changing the seats assigned to you? "

Poor Betty tried to defend herself but received a death glare from Declan. "I'm so sorry sir, it won't happen again." She said and returned back to her chair and Hazel sat down beside me.

Mr Anthony sighed and returned to the teaching. From the corner of my eye, I could see Hazel staring at me. She then patted my hand softly and I turned to her. She mouthed 'good morning' and I nodded turning my head back surprised she's greeting me. The lesson continued for hours until the bell went for lunch time. Mr Anthony dismissed the class and everyone left for the cafeteria but I remained. I was waiting for Ruby. We planned on eating together in my class and also brought our lunch from home. It was far better than eating among people who looked down on you.

Hazel noticed I wasn't moving and turned to me. "Hey." I turned to her. "I... Uhm. Wanna grab lunch with me?" She asked and my eyes widened. We're my ears deceiving me? I snapped out of my daze. Not now. You have an agreement with Ruby.

"I uhh... I would love to but. I'm sorry I can't. I've got plans that doesn't include the cafeteria. " I replied rubbing the back of my head grinning.

She scoffed. " It's okay. No need to apologize. Not like I care anyway. I just felt guilty for how I treated you yesterday and thought I should make it up to you. " She said and my grin faded. So harsh. I turned back to my work trying to control my anger. So she didn't care.

"It's settled then. No need to feel guilty about hurting a nobody like me." I said and she walked out of the class. Waoh. What a heartless being? I didn't even care anyway so why bother myself about her heartlessness.
