Empress' Evolution

The bright red light of the flames swallowed her vision but soon that red light transformed into a blue hue and she was dragged into that light. ‘What’s happening?’ It was too bright and she was forced to close her eyes, she was blinded — even though she was already dead. After being pulled into the light she began to feel annoyed as her skin was irritated by some kind of rough sand. By the time she opened her eyes. She could see the full view of the sky. It was blue and there were clouds scattered about. ‘Ugh, is this Hell?’ She stated as she rubbed her head with her fluffy and furry ‘hand’. ‘Furry?’ She looked at her ‘hands’ and her mouth opened wide. Her hands had become soft and fluffy paws of a white-furred beast with purple spots. ‘What the hell?’ She touched her face with her paws and confirmed that it too did not belong to a human. Below, she felt something was moving, she can tell as if it was another limb connected to her. ‘Don’t tell me!’ Turning her head around, she found a seven-inch tail sticking out behind. ‘Phew!’ She felt relieved that it wasn’t what she thought it was. “These soft and paws, this cuddly fluffy hair, this cute tail — ah shit, did I become a beast after my death or have I been dreaming of being human as a beast all this time? If it is the latter that is one long and realistic dream.” === [It’s the former, stupid bitch.] === Said a woman’s voice from in her head. === As always thank you for reading, also the image in the cover is not mine, I found it on Pinterest and thought it was cool and suitable. All credits got to the illustrator. Also, this is a new type of story that I have not read about yet. Basically I am writing an evolution novel without prior knowledge so I don't really know what is considered cliche in this genre. I will be posting this story on RoyalRoad.com

'We're going to ride this high from here on and establish ourselves as respectable creatures. I'll have to quickly establish a connection to humans, and then through me, I will have to do some charitable acts to gather a good following but, exposure should allow us to avoid getting beamed out of existence.' remembering the day when the light came down and erased her hard word made Lilith shudder, 'They'll have to hesitate when doing that.'

[That might really be our best chance for survival. I support this plan, more than aimlessly waging war.]

Alpha agreed as well.

'Well, with this, we can actually begin crafting a plan. Also, we just received a new Hidden Mission. There might be something goo-- and the rewards are useless. Go figure'

While the disappointment was at an all-time high, Lilith finished her little procession with the humans in tow.

Along the way, many of the remaining streamers who tagged along captured the horrific truth of the fight against the daemons. The closer they got to the main battlefield, the more body scattered on the ground were found.

"As you can see, the road has been tainted red by the blood of the soldiers. Damn, the Overrun this time is too severe. This is why the Hunter Association should have pushed for the fight against those who threatened to destroy the City. As I said before previously, we should have eradicated the daem—the Evil Monsters!" one of them recounted.

They reached the area where the walls fell from the raid. The walls were the symbol of safety reduced to rumbles that entrapped the men it was supposed to protect.

The gasps could be heard piling at the sight of the carnage. This was where both humans and daemons desperately fought each other.

Where the last stand of the humans began.

"There are still others who are alive! Quickly, help me find them!" Lilith did not waste any time sightseeing like the others. She scanned for life and guided the people to the best of her ability, "Fifty meters, under the debris, there are faint signs of life! There, inside the destroyed building—be careful, that daemon is still clinging to life! Bring me the wounded, I will heal them ~ Solar Healing."

[Notice: You have met the necessary experience to using the healing factor of the Solar Element and have gained a considerable number of acknowledgement and Faith.

[Connection to Divinity has been confirmed. Original Matrix has aligned with the requirements. Acknowledged.]

[Elemental Upgrade has been granted— (Solar) —> (Divine Light)

[Solar Healing — Skill Upgrade — (S) —> (S+) … Divine…]

'Finally, an upgrade!' Lilith was delighted and activated the (Active Skill). Her glorious light shot up, now, even brighter and gentler to the touch than it had ever been. A ball of hope to those who had been hurt.

She gently announced, "Divine Touch."

A two hundred meter area of effect was reached. Lilith's ability to heal others grew stronger by a notch thanks to the gullibility of humans. She didn't pay it no mind, as she could already feel her advancement earlier.

But, seeing the evolution of a Skill always made her question a lot of things.

'If a skill can evolve and become stronger through multiple usages, then why isn't everyone spamming them at birth? Why aren't humans having children killing daemons earlier to get them to a high enough level? Why aren't daemons already extinct if humans have the number advantage?'

Such were her few of the many questions that remain without a concrete answer.

Though this time her skill and element evolved because of the faith she had accumulated from the humans through Letza.

'I wonder, what else can be upgraded using this method?'

Lilith was a curious mind, but she restricted herself from pursuing the matter.

She wouldn't allow such thoughts to prevail with her current situation. She was in the midst of conning millions, after all.

[After some calibration, I have calculated the six Spots where you can maximize the Divine Touch. If you go to these places, you'd be able to not only heal everyone but also get maximum exposure.]

'Roger that.'

Lilith followed Alpha's instructions. She moved around the Frontlines and met the injured soldiers, healed them, and then allowed herself to bask in the glorious light of internet clout.

"You have done well, you two. If not for your dedication to face the Gargankong and its minions, the people would not have been able to flee in safety while my Guardians arrived here to protect everyone. Thank you for stalling them long enough for everyone to retreat to safety. May the Goddess Letza bless you in your next life."

That was her words to a dying soldier crushed underneath the rubbles before shedding a tear. She, of course, made sure to help as many soldiers as much as possible, but seeing how he would not survive, she chose to hold his hand and give him comforting words instead of false hopes.

It was not often when Lilith would speak, but she absolutely made sure that she rehearsed inside her head.

Having Alpha be the judge. Even an editor to the words she would churn out.

Thus, the combine powers of the two gave birth to heartwarming scenes one after another.

Six different locations and hundreds of soldiers healed, dozens laid to rest. Walking out of the City, many ordinary people and the streamers' faces twisted like their stomachs. All over the place were entrails scattered about.

Carcass and corpses littered the ground. Items, Equipment, and limbs were scattered across the battlefield as if they were common trash. The injured soldiers looked at the passing of the procession.

Rescuer or not, those who saw the maimed and the bleeding could not help but look away. Captured in the camera was the aftermath of the fighting.

And the one who shed the most tears at the face of such carnage was a little daemon. Not even at waist height.

The Soldiers were clearly shocked to see a daemon leading their fellow humans. Many managed to connect the dots on the warriors who fought the Gargankong for them, but others… were not so bright.

"Fuck… we lost." One of them cursed as Lilith shook her head. Stopping her laughter from bursting out.

But despite their differing thoughts, one thing that they had in common was their eyes.

Their eyes were still vicious. Still incapable of relaxing, perpetually trapped in battle until their desire to kill.

'Alpha, is this the last one of the Mana Potion?' Lilith asked while bowing her head to the soldiers to thank them and then sneakily drinking the potion.

[Sadly, but this should give you enough fuel for the last show.]

'I see.'

Lilith was given two kinds of skills.

Passive and Active Skills.

Passive meant it was bound to her and was in effect as long as she breathed. It could be used automatically and activates without her doing anything. However, like history taught her before, it was not without its disadvantages.

Active meant she must call upon the skill by calling upon its name so she can use them in the physical world. Her body would become the medium for the skill to be used on the outside world.

When she was human, Lilith's system was different from what she had now. It was harder to gain a skill, and increasing the number of elemental affinities were impossible. There were many differences as well, but these were the most prominent.

According to the survey she did before, not everyone possesses the same kind of system. Some even have some unique features that make them stand out. Systems were similar to mass-produced; they were customizable to small areas but mainly operated the same way.

And Lilith's was the most broken of all the Systems because of its nature. What made it so powerful was its connection to a greater power. As well as its ability to manually manipulate the vessel it was attached via the Status Point System.

But, what Lilith liked the most about her system was one function.

'I don't know why, but Luceer must have had a reason why she allowed it.' even she was unsure how this kind of ability should be allowed. But, as it was useable, she was going to abuse it as much as possible.

Lilith's system allowed her to gain Active and Passive skills en masse. But, that was not all because she could even use skills she had not acquired — Free Skills that's what she called them.

Free Skills have more freedom to them as it allows her to manipulate their output. Their trajectories were more varied and had more tactical advantage. Due to it not being a part of the system and was something she formed on her own, the mana usage depended on her control. Thus, Free Skills needs more mana than Active Skills.

But Lilith found a way to go over the wall--or rather, a variation of this Free Skill.

Using the Active Skill as her blueprint, she traced the skill in her mind, and then following the sensation when a skill is used with significant alteration to its output Lilith discovered another hidden function.

Lilith called it — Skill Enhance.

"Skill Enhance 90% — Divine Touch." The golden light of the divine gracefully shot up to the skies enveloping everyone with its healing embrace. Though it was not any bigger, its output became stronger. Making its effect almost instantaneous.

Relieved of pain, the tense body of the fallen and injured solders finally allowed them to breathe, and in that instance, when those who had fought for their lives… when their pain was taken away, they all looked at Lilith, their expressions subtly changed. The viciousness could not be instantly lifted, but the gratitude of those who saw what she did needed not be said.

Lilith didn't need to speak neither. Simply, she smiled and allowed them to have peace of mind.

Though she had horns and was not human, the Soldiers could not bring themselves to feel aggression. All they felt seeing Lilith garbed in her baggy dress with those plump rosy cheeks was to pick her up and toss her up in the air to hear her laugh.

All of a sudden, the Soldiers became the fathers they never were.

Cuteness has brought them peace.
