"Gold Pass?" Tau asked, confused.

Looking at the new holographic screen, Tau just sat there, bewildered. He didn't understand why he received such a thing.

"Wait, is this my cheat?" Tau asked, recognizing such events even from other books.

"It doesn't look that much like a cheat though," Tau noted.

None of the granted benefits he was seeing looked like an actual cheat. Of course, they gave him an advantage over others, but that was all.

There was also the fact that he wasn't sure if he was the only one with such an advantage. There might be other people with the |Gold Pass| as well.

After a while, he finally moved on from that screen as the holographic display changed to a different one, which seemed to be the default screen.

It showed two different bars, one titled Gold and the other titled Elixir. The Elixir bar was completely empty, but the Gold bar had something in it.

Gold: 1500

Elixir: nil

Apart from the two, there was nothing else shown. It seemed as though they were the only important things to have in this new world.

"It's just this and we are to conquer the entire world?" Tau asked himself.

Even Genghis Khan, with his army of millions, couldn't conquer the entire world, so who was he to do so?

Holding on to the wall, Tau finally managed to stand. His body was seriously weaker than normal, but he braved through it. If he did a better job, he might get cured.

Finally making his way out of the hut, he was immediately blinded by the bright rays of the sun. Letting his eyes adjust, Tau could finally see it.

The village that he could call his own. He saw children, men, and women, all going about their day. Huts and various buildings stretched as far as his eyes could see.

Looking around, he finally understood why so many people were gathered in his room earlier. The village was small, which meant that everybody knew everybody.

"You're finally awake," he heard the familiar voice say as he turned to see the young woman standing beside him.

"Yes, I am," Tau replied with a smile.

He was now in this world; he had no choice but to adapt and survive within it. He had nothing back on Earth that he needed to look back to.

"You know you aren't supposed to be moving around like this. What if you fell?" the girl asked as he put his hand around her shoulder to act as his support.

"Then I stand back up. My condition may have made my bones weak, but my will is still strong enough to lift buildings," Tau replied with a carefree smile.

"I see then, so where do you want to go?" she said.

"Before that, may I know your name? I may not look it, but I don't know anyone or anything going on here," Tau said truthfully.

He had nothing to fear; the worst they could do was kill him, and he doubted they would do that. After all, they had just gathered to try and save his life when they thought he was dead.

"Mr. Ryuk considered that, so it is expected. Here, come along. I'll introduce you to everyone," she said as she chuckled.

From her, he learned two things. One was that the name of the herbalist or the native doctor who had helped him was Ryuk.

The other was that he could safely play the amnesia card. This was one problem he didn't know how to handle, but thankfully, it had already been taken care of.

"Okay then, I'll leave it to you," he replied as they began walking.

"Ismene."

"What?"

"Ismene, that's my name," she replied, and Tau immediately took note of the name.

Following that, she took him all around the village, introducing him to everyone they came across.

It turned out there were a lot of craftsmen within the village. From Mr. Ryuk, who turned out to be an alchemist, though the title was self-given, to the twin blacksmiths, Driug and Trunk, who resided on the outskirts of the village.

The village wasn't that big and, by his estimates, contained at most two hundred (200) people. He at least knew that there were thirteen (13) carpenters, four (4) blacksmiths, six (6) masons, and about twenty (20) farmers altogether.

From what he saw, the area was very good, considering that they have always had bountiful harvests… at least according to the farmers. The blacksmiths also said that the iron mines in the area produced enough iron for them to sell to the nearby town as well as use.

In simple terms, he seemed to have gotten a decent village to rule over. There was food, a stable source of income, and all. However, that didn't mean they had it all figured out.

The streets were dirty, the buildings were huts built close together, which meant that if there was ever a fire, the whole village would burn if the fire wasn't stamped out in time.

There was also a major lack of proper hygiene within the village. Of course, this didn't mean that they weren't neat-looking.

However, considering how many sick people they had in the village, it was clear that they didn't meet the standard of cleanliness needed.

Above that, there was also the lack of healthcare. So in simple terms, he had a decent village, but there was a lot of work to be done to bring this place up to par.
