Chapter 39 – New Anime

In the famous meeting room, the cast of Nexus Animation, this time accompanied by their four newest members were prepared to talk about their new project. It is interesting to see even Marie Taylor in the room, with a blog and a pencil in her hands ready to hear the discussion.

She is a newbie in the anime industry, like Kira, so she thought that it would be good for her to be present here.

As Kira was about to open his mouth, the ever-energetic Shiba Ryo interrupted him – "Boss, boss, boss…"

If Kira just ignored the obnoxious man, he would continue to pester him, so the CEO indulged the pervert – "What is it, Shiba?"

"You never mentioned to us, how is your path to becoming a weeb going, what are you watching currently?"

Hearing him say that, the rest of the usual suspects perked up their ears, as they were also interested in the journey of their boss, who was trying to become one of their own.

Kira just smiled at the curious eyes of his employees and answered the question – "It is going ok, I am reading, I am watching, and currently I am trying to figure out the 'Fate' series…"

The moment he said that the whole meeting room, alongside Keiko Hana who was trying to mimic her seniors, rang with just two words – """Good luck""". While the two foreigners looked at them confused.

After that moment of bonding, Kira returned their attention to their original topic.

"Okay, the first anime already is a success, we earned enough money and can be a little bit more flexible, now it is time to decide on our new project."

Their first anime has two more episodes left to air and the reactions of the public are positive, they earned quite a bit selling some merchandise, plus the amount of money earned from selling the rights to air the anime to the television and streaming services.

So, currently, Nexus Animation is in the spot where they can rise, but their next project is going to be a key, will they rise as a studio or will they return to the abyss?

"Our first anime was Slice-of-Life, with a touch of Romance, we can brand ourselves as a studio specialized in more of a Romance, Slice-of-Life genre, but I don't want that, I want us to be a jack of all trades, every genre is going to be our speciality, director?"

With his opening statement, Kira turned his head to Toma Yuu, meaning that the floor was his.

"I agree with the CEO, I can tell that we all are people who love different stories, and different genres, so I don't see why we shouldn't try something new, especially if our boss is giving us the green light, 10 points for our CEO…"

The last words, our favourite director said with a rare smile.

It needs to be mentioned that OnlyAnime and John Smiley were still in the process of negotiating with Japanese publishers about the media they wanted to adopt to anime, with help of the Nexus Animation, so Kira decided they were going to work on two projects at the same time, they have enough finances to fund one on their own and OnlyAnime is going to help with funding the anime they are going to collab on.

You know the drill after all that opening talk, it was time to look for the story they were going to adapt. Even new animators, after a little bit of apprehension, joined their colleagues in giving their opinions on what to adapt and what they liked.

Interestingly enough, Katsumi Hideki and Youta Katsurou had similar taste in anime, both were interested in working on Shounens and that's where they were aiming. You can guess how much Youta was annoyed because his eternal enemy, as he calls him, likes the same stuff.

While the guys were discussing new projects, Marie Taylor was carefully listening and noting down things she found important, she was also with one ear listening to Keiko Hana who was explaining to her all the terms she didn't know. It seems that for a reason Keiko had chosen to work here, she is also a massive otaku.

For three hours, they were trying to come up with some potential stories they could adapt. It was decided that this time they wouldn't look much at the genre, as Kira was ready to start adapting whatever, it just had to be good.

Of course, Shiba Ryo tried to put Hentai as an option, but the only thing he got was a glare from Keiko Hana and a second glare from Marie Taylor after she was informed what Hentai is. Our poor pervert could only hang his head at that.

Kira on the other hand was quite happy, as it seems he found a medicine for the redhead craziness.

All in all, they found ten stories, most of them manga with some light novels mixed in, and from these stories, one was sticking out, a horror story, and at that a really famous one.
