Archive 20: Humility proceeds honour.

By the time Magnus was done it was already the afternoon.

He was exhausted and could barely get his body to move. He thought this task wouldn't be too hard since he had been training prior to all of this, but he couldn't have been more wrong. He felt dead inside.

Meanwhile Magnus who looked like he was on the verge of death was being observed by Selphyn. She didn't think he'd be able to complete those drills at all.

She actually thought he would give up at some point, but he kept going until the end. While checking the time she noticed that although he didn't finish in thirty minutes, he completed something she thought would take two hours in half of that time. His form was also quite good for a beginner. She was impressed.

Looks like the Caesrus blood ran strong in that boy's veins.

"Well done little master. You can rest now. We'll be doing this again tomorrow, same time. Don't be late." She said.

Magnus who's face was glistening with sweat got his body that felt like lead up and walked out of training room thanking her before leaving.

"So what do you think?" Pollux asked her. His once serious face had a hint of a smile.

"I'm baffled. I honestly did not believe you at first, but now I can see why you had such high praises for him. He performed much better than I expected."

"I'm a bit surprised myself." He admitted.

Selphyn quickly shot her head to the side looking at him questionably.

"Why are you the one who's surprised? Isn't the reason why you called me here because you believed he could work under my tutelage?"

"Yes I did, but I also never expected him to do this well either. You realized he performed a feat that most seasoned warriors could barely do? I mean just from what we've seen, it'll take him less than a week to complete this challenge."

Selphyn went silent. Her master was right.

Alastor could very well complete all of this exercise in under thirty minutes quite easily. It would probably take him three to four days. Selphyn could feel herself getting excited. She had always wanted to find herself a disciple and make them stronger just like her master did. And she could tell Alastor was a rare gem, waiting to be polished.

Over the next few days, Alastor trained more than before, trying his best to attain his goal. While checking his stats on the third day, he already saw a significant change in his energy levels. Not only that, he received a notification letting him know that he went up a level.

Level: 3

Title: N/A

Energy: 45

Holy power: 40

Stamina: 20

Awareness: 20

Potential: TBD

He could feel the exercises getting easier and his body felt much stronger as well. When the fourth day arrived, Alastor finished the set of exercises in under thirty minutes. twenty eight minutes and thirty seconds be precise. This was an astonishing feat.

"I can't believe it." Selphyn exclaimed.

Alastor who was lying on the ground panting like a dog turned to look at her and gave her a weak smile.

He was beyond exhausted and thus wasn't in control of his facial muscles resulting in his poker face disappearing.

This was the first time Selphyn had seen the young master smile in all of the time she'd known him. Despite being a sweaty mess, his appearance remained eye catching.

His obsidian hair was slicked back allowing everyone to see his face properly. Those big ruby eyes shined brightly in the sun giving the young master a unique charm.

Curse those Caesrus genes Selphyn thought to herself.

Meanwhile upon checking his stats, Magnus noticed that his affection levels went up ten levels.

"Hmm, well you've completed your task a lot quicker than I expected. Let's move on to sword practice."

"Does that mean I passed?" Alastor asked.

"Yes you did." She replied back.

"Now before even touching the sword, its important to know the fundamentals. Physical conditioning which we've done just now is important. Having the strength to hold your weapon is important otherwise welding it would be nearly impossible. To maintain your body, we will be doing a set of drills every week and the level of difficulty will increase each time."

Alastor nodded in response. He already knew this since he had read many books about the basics of martial arts and swordsmanship thanks to the system.

"Next is increasing your awareness. Thrusting a sword around is good and all, but being able to be aware of your surroundings and sense danger is equally important. I'll be tasking you with meditation twice a day in order to strengthen your mentality but also your breathing. This will help you absorb the nature's energy and gather aura in your energy core. You'll be tested at the end of the month. If you pass, then we'll move on to sword training. She finished.

"Let's get started."

A quick lesson on aura and energy cores from your all knowing system!

[Before even attempting to manifest aura, one needs to have an energy. Your core which is found in your body stores the energy that builds up and forms a circular light of energy inside of you. There are a total of ten cores and any third rate martial artist needs at least three circles in order to produce aura. Aura is the built up energy that is transformed into holy power which can be utilized in combat. Any good swordsman needs to have aura in order to breakthrough.]

That is all about energy cores and aura for now. Until the next lesson!
