06- The Saviour

I look between the two clutching my phone tight in my hand.

Brittany gulps and she holds out her wrist where she wore a watch that was slightly off shade and she is always so particular about her outfits. I start to realize something is off when he takes out a tiny key and locks the watch that looked like a normal watch.

She subtly points to my heels and then I notice that she had removed hers.

I notice the metal glint from the back of the man's waist band. "Good work Brittany I was worried for a minute that I'd have to be harsh with you and she let out a nervous chuckle.

I make eye contact with the guy and slightly wince as I shift to sell my actions and slip off the heels and grab them. "Why are we here britt-"

Before I could complete asking her she dashed to me, grabbing my wrist and tugging me with her and we heard him scream out curses and hear his footsteps. We find Timothy still around pacing by the car when he notices us, his eyes widened.

We rush into the car, screaming and asking him to do the same and fortunately he listens and reverses just in time as the man who was chasing us reaches our car but Timothy was fast and swift as he drove out of there.

"FIND COPS" Brittany yells out and Timothy just clenched his jaw but doesn't question her as he puts in the station on the gps and rushes there. We find two bikes following us and Timothy speeds up.

He curses and looks at the two of us with a frown.

"What mess did you get yourselves in?" he grits out and I look at Brittany who was looking into the side mirror at the bikes tailing us.

She doest answer and I had no idea either except that it looked quite a lot like a hostage situation to me and that she was shaken up.

I see a tear escape her eyes and silently hug her as she leans into my touch, we see the station up ahead and the moment the car stops Brittany was out and rushing in, i followed her in while Timothy yelled curses at us.

I follow Brittany in without paying heed to the surroundings and stumble but a hand reaches out and steadies me. I look up to find a cop standing there.

I hear Brittany screaming my name just as that man pursuing us barges in with a revolver aiming right at me, my eyes widen and I hear a gunshot just as the cop pulls me behind but the shot makes him bang against me slightly. He shoots the man's hand making his revolver fly out of his hand as he falls on the ground screaming in pain.

I'm sure the cop got shit so I turned him to me. "YOU ARE SHOT oh my god I-" "It's okay im wearing a bullet proof vest he didn't hit me directly." the cop said as he held my shoulders in an attempt to calm me down.

I nod and look back at the man, then at the cop. I let out a shaky breath. "Im okay, im okay" i said as i looked at him and then people finally were out of the shock of what just happened and arrested the man.

I was led into the chief inspector's cabin, he made me take a seat on the chair opposite to the desk and he pulled a chair to sit right in front of me.

"Miss..?" "You can call me Talia" I said and he nodded, "Im Diego" he introduced himself and I nod. I let out a chuckle and another shaky breath. "Um so-" I trailed off and looked away from his eyes. They were so intense.

"You want to know what happened" I stated and he leaned back, "that's my job to find out, I just want to know if you are okay" he said and let out a small smile. "Im way better now" he smirks and I raise an eyebrow and he shakes his head.

I look down and tell him what I knew, "the girl who rushed in before me is my friend Brittany and i've known her for years. The man who tried to shoot me, well he had a hold on my friend in a way. I mean there was this watch attached to her wrist that was off because I know her taste and that watch wasnt her. And then-". I tell him everything about tonight from her walking out with that man.

He kept looking at me so intently that it unnerved me but not in a bad way. I liked the way he was looking at me and then I mentally shook my head. It hasn't even been a few minutes and you are already crushing on the handsome cop.

I tilt my head to the side and study him as he processed what I said to him. He took out a small notebook and scribbled some things down.

"These are pointers for me" he said without looking up and continued noting down on the tiny leather notebook. I looked at the time and spaced out as the scenes of what happened flashed in my head again.

The chase, the gun shot, it all flashed through my head and all I could do was think about how everything went wrong within a span of a few hours. How did Brittany get involved with those kinds of people? I'm not very surprised that it was her but at the same time i hadn't expected something like this to happen.

I feel someone grab my shoulder and my eyes widen as I find Diego leaning towards me and I move back making the chair topple over and Diego comes crashing down with me.

I gasp as his weight presses onto me with force and he lifts himself up on his palms immediately.

"I'm so sorry, are you okay?" he asked with a concerned look on his face and I nodded laughing out at what just happened. I made eye contact with him and although there was almost a feet distance between us the proximity did nothing to hide his attraction towards me.

His eyes had darkened and dilated, his breathing had turned deep. I let out a small smirk and leaned forward. His eyes widened and he went back in slight surprise and I chuckled before standing up.

He shook his head and let out a chuckle as he stood up. He looked at me and I smiled innocently turning towards the door when I heard a knock on the door. I let out a sigh of relief as I found Brittany standing with a lady officer in handcuffs.

handcuffs? I step towards her and she looks away. What the heck is going on? I look at the lady officer who shoves Brittany inside and follows her, closing the door behind them.

"Chief, there is an important report to be made" the officer said and then looked at me. I realized what she meant and looked at Diego who nodded his head and I walked out while Brittany did her best to avoid eye contact.

I sigh in disappointment, I lean against the wall by the door as I stare at the ceiling. I've had enough. I keep getting involved in trouble that isn't even mine to begin with but somehow ends up revolving around me.

I walk to one of the desks of the cops and she looks up, "how may I help- oh you are the one who just arrived" she said in slight surprise and I nod. "Would you like some coffee?" she asked and I nodded so I got up and I followed her.

I watch as she makes my coffee. She hands the cup to me and makes one for herself before turning around and observing me.

"How are you? Today's events must have been shocking for you" she said and I nod, "quite a lot for me if i'm being honest but sitting and freaking out is going to get me nowhere although I would love to do that" i said with a scoff.

She smiles sadly at me, "Is there something that I can do for you?" she asked and I smile, "I appreciate the offer but at this point I have no idea what would work for me" I said and she sips her coffee and nods in understanding.

One of the cops rushed into the room of refreshments and I almost spilled my coffee as I was startled. I look at him and the officer beside me stands up straight, "What is it?" she asked sternly. And he looks at her and then at me, "Chief asked for her" he said and she nodded.

"Lets go" she said to me and I nod as she leads me back to his cabin while I slowly sipped on my coffee. I had no idea what to expect, everything has been a mess this week.

I met Casper because of whom I wasn't able to pursue my passion for a while only for him to drop back into my life like a timebomb that too would burst soon. Then meeting Adrian again at my workplace and his interest in me cost me my job.

Now Brittany got involved in a dangerous mess, dragging me into it along with her. What do I even expect next? Assassins to pursue me after what happened today? Or Aliens going to show up and whisk me away.

I internally roll my eyes at my own thoughts as we enter Diego's cabin again where Brittany is crying and I put my coffee down rushing to her.

"What happened?"

I softly brush her hair behind her ear and pull her in for a hug to comfort her. My eyes harden as my gaze shifts to the lady officer. I stand up and stalk towards her in anger but Diego grabs my arm.

He shakes his head with a frown. "What is going on? You all are treating her like the criminal when clearly it was us who got chased into the station-"

"That's not the reason why she is handcuffed, she was involved in trafficking of teenagers with the man we just captured" the lady officer said and I froze.

"What"

"I said-" she was about to speak again but stopped when I felt my knees buckle and Diego caught me.

I straightened up and gritted my teeth at what I just heard. I turned towards Brittany who still wouldn't look at me. I shook my head, "I cant believe that you actually played a role in it so I want you to tell me the truth when you are ready" I said and then turned and walked out without another glance at her.

Just before I stepped out of there I turned back and made eye contact with Diego. I nod at him and walk out of the cabin and then the station.

I find Timothy talking on the call by his car and approach him but before I could call out to him I felt someones hand on my shoulder and I turn to find Diego standing there.

"What-"

"This is my card, i want you to call me incase anything ever happens. Ill be there"

He said and gave me his card. I grab it and look up at him with siren eyes. "Is this your way of hitting on me?"

I asked slightly teasing him and his ear redden a little, "Uh I was just concerned but I wouldnt mind if you took it in that way either" he said and I smile. "Thank you Chief" i said with a wink and i hear someone clear their throat behind us.

I turn to see Timothy standing there with his hands crossed and slight frown, "ill take it from here Chief" he said and I wave at Diego moving to the passenger seat.

Timothy followed in to the drivers seat but not before glaring at Diego who wouldnt stop looking at me. He shoved his hands in his pocket while he watched Timothy pull away and i could see him in the side mirror still standing there looking at me.
