18 Atlantis Treaty

I find myself in a room with King Arthur and only King Arthur. It is practically a conference room.

"Elden Lord Ellorsseax, I may be merry, but I am not unwise. I know you have other reasons for being in Atlantis. The crisis happening around the time of your level is suspicious. I will say this. Although I am grateful for your aid, I must ask about the circumstances and motivations.", He said to me.

I stop leaning back in my comfortable Atlantean chair, "Well, I had reason to believe that your realm would come under a crisis. I wanted to establish positive relations with Atlantis, so I thought visiting during this time would give me an good opportunity for an excellent first impression."

King Arthur sighs and dons a small grin, "I can accept those reason. Now that my impression is excellent. What is it you want to discuss?"

I answer with a grin of my own, "A treaty of trade and mutual defense. Even exchange of knowledge. As we are both magical societies, I'm sure we can exchange magical knowledge with each other fairly. The Raya Lucaria Magic Academy would not be adverse to join research or magical get-togethers. They are the most prestigious and learned ground for magical education in my entire realm."

"Mera would love to work with such a place. I also see the benefit both our realms would get. Although, I will not be overly prideful. I admit that my realm is weaker than yours. A mutual defense clause would only benefit us. To be prideful enough, I do not feel comfortable with having to be...babysitted by a stronger realm.", he says.

I shrug, "Well, you have a point about the mutual defense. I just thought it would be a good deal. As when you here, your realm is unconquerable. When you are not here, your realm is vulnerable to enemies within and without. You are not always here as a hero of the Justice League. The defense clause would allow you to hero about with no worry about home. As I take such defense pacts very seriously. I would not tolerate an active threat to your realm when you're not around."

He frowned a bit, "I read between the lines. You would kill remorselessly, any enemy that acts against my realm. Be they my half-brother, or otherwise."

I nod, "Unless you want to designate a known enemy for live capture if they attack. They would die unless information can be extracted from them. After that, death would await them."

"Aquaman would not take you up on the defense clause. However, King Arthur would accept. I must act in the interest of my people. I will accept the defense clause along with the rest of the treaty.", he said resolutely.

I knew I would like Arthur. A true king that lives up to the mythical name of Arthur.

We rise and I conjure the treaty printed on paper gold. He takes it, reads it through thoroughly. Once he is done, he puts it on the table and signs it while commenting, "Golden paper is a little much, isn't it?". He jokes.

I chuckle, "My wife always says I should conduct myself in a way that is representative of my status. The golden paper was her idea."

He laughs too, "I thought Mera was bad. She just wants me to wear proper royal clothes and dinner manners. You have it worse than I do, ha ha!"

I laugh, "Indeed I do, but what can a man do. Even a king must appease his wife like any other man. A side-effect of love, he he."

We walked out of the room with the treaty to present to the people of Atlantis in good moods.
