The Team Up

"Alright."

I just answered still confused of what hes trying to get at. He took a deep breath and then started to speak again.

"I decided to sleep here when my mom passed away in case your wondering... and if you haven't figured it out yet..."

He paused as he pointedly gestured with his eyes to the desk I just touched without his permission. I only smiled at him apologetically.

"Yes, Linda is a mute."

He finished then took another deep breath and continued.

"Back before she started missing she told me about a creature that she kept on seeing... I-I didn't believed her... then we fought and then the next day... she-she went missing... I keep on blaming myself for that... I-I think I'll bear that sin for the rest of my life... I didn't listen to her... when I promised her even if the whole world can't hear her, I'll always be there to listen."

I could see tears filling the corner of his eyes, he really do love her that much but a creature? Seriously?! That is hard to believe even if you try to feigh belief just because its comforting the other person. Who am I kidding, I just got hit by a truck and somehow gotten away with it with just bloody clothes.

"Seriously?!"

I answered. Trying not to laugh at the irony which is his life.

"Dont talk! I'm not done yet."

He said and I immediately shut my mouth pressing it together into a thin line, I rolled my eyes.

"I know it might sound crazy, but please believe me.. I-I thought you might believe me because you went missing for months and might have seen it too."

He sounded almost disappointed. I am offended.

"Linda went missing a month after you and your friends went missing then I thought maybe she was with the 3 of you... and a certain creature is behind all this."

He paused but then continued.

"I've been waiting for this opportunity to talk to you privately... and I just know that creature IS real!"

He claimed.

"Have you seen it?"

"No but.. How do you explain what happened to you? Something strange is going on in our town. I just know it!"

Seriously this man is nuts but it kind of makes sense to me.

"... Are you done now?"

"... Yes."

As soon as he answered I immediately stood as he do the same mimicking my actions. I took a really deep breath and swallowed thickly. He just stared. I chuckled at the sight, he looked tensed and really serious about this, it makes me wanna laugh.

"Okay... So what now? Will you just keep stickin' posters and wait like a suburban mom? orrr?... well go find her ourselves?"

I raised both my brows waiting for an answer.

"We wait?... I mean I respect my dads job and what are we even going to do when we see it? yell at it?"

I face palmed. Seriously?! Is his brain perhaps mentally declining?

" ..... "

I just stared at him blankly. I gestured him to come closer and so that I could whisper, he does what hes told, I whispered tenderly...

"Idiot."

Immediately, he reeled back and looked at me surprised.

Pffffft-

"What?"

He said looking both offended. I shook my head and head out.

"Can I borrow something to cover this up?"

I gestured to myself. He looked around and picked up a moss green wool sweater abandoned on the floor and swung it at me.

...

Damn, I left my things at school.

I really cant believe that guy. Hes such an idiot, how come he told me all of those things and then do nothing?!

I stood on our porch holding the cold door knob but refused to turn it. I really reaallyyy hope they haven't heard anything about the accident. I dont really like the drama, the scolding and the consequences.

I took one long intake of breath.

Here we go!

"Oh, how was school?"

My mom asked. I just nodded in response and went straight to my room but before I get to close the door I realized I was hungry and went downstairs to eat dinner as fast as I could, when I finished eating, I went to the sink and brushed my teeth and went straight to my bedroom, all trying to ignore my mother.

I face planted on my bed, not even minding changing into something comfortable. 'Im too tired to lift a muscle' I groaned. After a few minutes of just staring at a certain corner of my room, I decided to just get on with it and change into a proper clothing so that I could finally relax and drift off to sleep. I smell of blood, dried blood, my dried blood to be specific and I kind of like it. Oddly enough.

I was about to lift up the sweater, I heard a light knock on my window, I ignored it at first, maybe it's just our cats on the roof until the ligh knock turned into vigorous pounding. I don't know what to feel. I feel like I am supposed to be scared, like I am obligated to feel scared because that is the only normal reaction to situations like this but I know I wasn't even scared the slightest bit.

I peeked through the window and opened it, seeing a figure of a boy in front of me seeming that it climbed to my window and knocked for me to open it. I flinched so hard and landed on the floor. I forgot to mention, I'm jumpy at right times, similar to a flinch of a caffeine addict.

"Hey, hey its me!"

The boy whispered yell at me stretching out a hand to pat my shoulder. Looking at it closely, I soon to recognize it was Jack!

"What the heck man!"

I slapped his hands away from my shoulder and got up on my own.

"Im sorry, I might have scared you... haha!"

He laughed scratching the back of his neck and awkwardly looked to his side.

"Whatevs.. What are you doing here anyways?"

I sat down on my bed and raised my brows questioningly, urging him to elaborate.

"When I think about what you said... I finally understand and..

I ... well, I think you know what I mean."

I smiled maliciously and feigh ignorance.

"Well, I'm afraid I dont know what you mean."

I said in a song voice. Teasing him. He blushed and pulled a constipated face.

"I'll go look for Linda.."

Why am I not surprised. I smirked.

He look like he noticed the error he spoke again to correct himself.

"Let's go look for Linda. The two of us."

Uhm, what? I froze, I get it, he wants to find his girlfriend but with me?!

"Me?"

Since when did it become "We"?!

I made a confused face. He chuckled meekly.

"I figured you want to help me, since you're constantly there for me and you saved me back there even though it was your fault to begin with and since you have some sort of mysterious powers, you can help me beat the creature."

He shrugged.

"Excuse me? So now it's my fault that your obsessed with those posters?! You have no idea how borderline stupid you are acting! and is this how you ask someone their help?"

I exploded. I tuned to face away from him and took a deep breath. I heard him exhale a heavy breath.

"I'm sorry... It's just... as I've told you, I feel really terrible about her disappearance... It's the least I could do..."

He looked down.

"The posters."

He shrugged.

"Okay."

I said dryly and faced him.

"Fine."

I sat up from my bed.

"Really?!"

He looked really shocked, like he didn't really expect that I'd agree but he immediately replaced it with the widest smile I have ever seen from him.

"Good, c'mon!"

He motioned outside the window.

"Right now?"

"Uhh-yeah?"

He answered in a duh manner he even had the audacity to roll his eyes on me.

"Okay, where do we go then?"

He smiled widely. I shook my head with a smirk. I do hope he have a plan.

I slipped on a yellow hoodie hanged behind my door and slipped out of my window, hes already on the ground... I just had an idea. I grinned, he immediately noticed but before he could move away I already leaped and landed on him.

I landed sitting on his back while hes on the ground laying on his stomach. 'Oh this is so much fun' I chucked.

"Uhg, that hurts!"

He groaned. I immediately stood and crossed my arms while I watch him struggled getting on his feet.

"Seriously!? I could've died! Unlike you I dont heal!

He scowled.

"Regenerate."

I corrected.

"It's the same thing!"

He said fuming while I remained sniggering, too amused to sass at him.

"Where do we go?"

I asked not even bothering to hide the huge grin on my face.

"Dont tell me you haven't thought about it yet?... Teammate?"

I almost squealed the last word. We're a team now going on an adventure... but this time, it's with real friend... I hope.

He grinned.

"Oh, I know exactly where were going teammate."

He assured me.
