chapter 2: care package

As I closed the door behind me, I glanced into the hallway, my eyes quickly scanning the dimly lit space for any signs of stairs or an alternate route that could take me downstairs.

Seeing that there are no stairs nearby, I realize I need to find a new way. Now, which way should I go—left or right? Assessing my options, I weigh the possibilities before making a swift decision. With a determined nod, I choose to go left, trusting my instincts to lead me in the right direction.

As I walked down the hallway, I couldn't help but ponder to myself. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I mean, my life wasn't outstanding, but I had family that loved me. No, don't dwell on it, just keep moving forward.

Five minutes later

Finally, I reached the stairs. Now, I need to get out of here. As I made my way downstairs, a nagging feeling gnawed at the back of my mind, whispering that something was off.

As time passed, I made my way to the third floor. Upon reaching it, I caught sight of a window. Gazing out, I was met with nothing but an abyss of darkness stretching endlessly before me.

15 minutes later

Glancing at the wall displaying the first floor, I breathed a sigh of relief, grateful that nothing had happened to me thus far.

As I made my way to the exit, I couldn't help but ponder what Key had said. Was it something about dying, or was it something else? I struggled to recall the exact details, my memory hazy amidst the chaos of the situation at that moment.

As soon as I stepped outside, there was a ding echoing in my head—a new mission. "Run, boy, run." The urgency in the message sent a chill down my spine, adrenaline coursing through my veins as I realized the severity of the situation.

"Due to T.H.V gas, there is a virus in the air. You have been exposed. Please find a UV light to help yourself." The words reverberated in my mind, urging me into action as I scanned my surroundings, frantically searching for a UV light to protect myself against the invisible threat lurking in the air.

narrator's point of view:

A plane soared above Abav City, its engines humming softly, the G.R.E emblem stood out, a familiar symbol to those who recognized its significance.

Pilot point of view:

Alright team, Zone 1 is approaching fast. We have five minutes until the drop zone. Prepare to execute the supply drop as planned. ETA to Zone 1 is three minutes and thirty seconds. Stay sharp, everyone. Get ready! ETA to Zone 1 in five, four, three, two, one… Go, go, go!

narrator's point of view:

Just as Alan was searching for a UV light, he heard the distant roar of an airplane passing overhead.

the main character's perspective:

"What the… is that a plane?" I wondered aloud, squinting up at the sky. "What's it doing?" Before he could discern its purpose, a bright purple light suddenly flooded his vision, causing him to curse as he shielded his eyes.

opening my eyes to try and understand what had happened, only for me to see a falling blue and white box with a purple glow.

Ding! A new mission: Grab the care package. The G.R.E. Has set a care package for those in need.

Ding! The system presented two choices:

Choice one: Find a UV light. This path is safer but has a limited time and a low chance of success.

Choice two: Get the care package. This path is riskier but offers valuable resources.

Time left thirty minutes

"Damn, is it the G.R.E. from Dying Light? Wait, not the time," I muttered, feeling the urgency of the situation. "But which one to pick? I know I need the UV light to save myself, so I guess this is Dying Light 2. But without knowing the date, I can't guess how far the zombie mutation has progressed. But trying to get a UV light here is like trying to find a needle in a Haystack and God knows how long that will take just to find a UV light." With a sense of unease gnawing at me, I hesitated for a moment before making my decision.

But before I could think any further, I heard the ominous growling sounds behind me, causing my body to freeze in place involuntarily. My heart raced as I slowly turned to face the source of the noise, my mind racing with fear and anticipation of what lurked in the shadows.

Five minutes later

narrator's point of view:

Alan sprinted through the streets, his heart pounding with adrenaline as he navigated the urban maze. At first, his movements were stiff and awkward, but with each stride, his muscles loosened, and his steps became more fluid. The rhythm of his breath matched the pounding of his feet on the pavement, propelling him forward with increasing speed and grace. He dodged obstacles with precision, his senses sharpened by the urgency of the chase. Each leap over a car or hurdle brought a surge of exhilaration, driving him onward towards his goal.

the main character's perspective:

"Ah, the sweet taste of freedom! I've longed for this - the wind caressing my face, the adrenaline rush, just like the good old days."

Reflecting on when I last did parkour just for fun, amidst the demands of work and family, I realized how little time I've had for myself. While I know my family misses me, I've always yearned for moments of pure enjoyment. It feels selfish, but it's not like I have a choice in the first place. Breaking free from my thoughts, I sense myself drawing nearer to the care package

"With each step, I draw closer to my goal. Everything around me seems to slow down as I round the corner, and there it is—the care package, within reach."

walking toward the Care package I can feel myself calming down
