Chapter 17: The Beginning of Contracts

"Right... so to summarize stupidly, you didn't leave it because it would spoil the story's mood, right?" He asked with a neutral expression on his face and a calm tone, hoping that she would be direct rather than go into too much detail.

The system began to program itself and made a fictitious facial development command, showing a beautiful female face with silver eyes and short white hair. Around her skin, there were fragments that resembled those of a humanoid.

Her mouth opened slowly so that she could say something important, and she stared at the green wall near the bathroom exit door... as if she were looking at someone.

[Readers, High School DxD is more interesting with meaningful writing and actions, right? Don't get me wrong... he's just crazy].

The system ends up saying this by looking at the user who is reading chapter 17 at this very moment.

[Ah, if you don't mind... give me some power stones just to cheer up this fool next to me, the goal is 200 power stones for extra chapters, okay?]

She whispers with her eyes closed while showing a simple smile highlighting a warning to the readers and this makes Kentaro wonder at her attitude.

"Who are you talking to, crazy? Did you step on a wire or smoke some fucking virtual virus?" Kentaro exclaimed, looking into the eyes of the system that resembled a beautiful girl.

[Just warning readers, Master Hyoudou...]

This brought a feeling of strangeness, and inside his mind, only the word (Cringe) flew repeatedly because of the dialogues that the system kept talking to itself.

He quickly put his hand to his face and tried to calm down so that he could give an answer that would put an end to the two of them talking.

"Right... that was weird, it reminded me of a chatty anti-hero who won't die for nothing." Kentaro says a reference that reminded him of her crazy dialog, and he quickly turns off his system so he can get out of that bathroom to find the others.

As he walked across the campus towards the old building where Rias and company were... he opened his cell phone to see if there were any new messages outstanding.

The unanswered messages were from the group where both of his perverted classmates were, Motohama and Matsuda... the weirdos from room 3-B who made everyone uncomfortable.

_________

Motohama: [Will you come and watch a movie with us? It's very interesting to watch... with lots of beautiful women showing off if you know what I mean].

Matsuda: [But you're not helping either, are you Motohama? You're already giving away spoilers about the meeting!]

(Emoji) (Photo media) Message: [At the moment I'm on a date with no plans to attend, thanks friends... I'll pass on that one. * Emoji with a broken heart *

_________

Kentaro sends the message to the group and then puts his cell phone back in his pocket so that he can open the door of the building and enter the room where the others were.

"I'm back, I hope I didn't take too long to get back." Kentaro tells them he's back and walks over to the sofa where he was sitting next to Koneko.

"You got back pretty quickly, no need to worry Kentaro." Rias soothes him in a gentle tone as she sits in the armchair where Akeno used to be, enjoying the book she picked up a few days ago while sipping her tea.

He began to observe his surroundings and noticed something missing in the room: Akeno was leaning against the wall two meters away from the fireplace… silently reflecting on her thoughts.

Koneko was sitting with her eyes closed, but with her arms behind her head as if she were lying down and relaxing so that she could wait for the meeting to start.

"Rias, where's Kiba? He was sitting literally next to this other armchair." Kentaro asked as he looked at the empty armchair where the blond gentleman was sitting.

She removed her glasses and closed her book so that she could pay attention to her faithful partner, who was feeling questioned by Kiba's lack of presence.

"He's been out for a while so he can practice and warm up his sword movements, why are you so worried?" Rias had a curious expression and her eyes were focused on Kentaro's face, wondering what was going on in his head.

Kentaro ended up remembering the little argument he'd had with Kiba, and that had possibly made him weak when he'd tried to argue about the staff's identity issues.

Deep down, as much as Kentaro hated being confronted precisely because he'd been through this experience in the past with his boss at the video editors' agency... he worried about his fellow man and wondered whether it was worth having discussed the matter with Kiba without at least giving some thought to his emotional state.

What's more, his knowledge of Kiba's identity and history only reinforced the fact that he couldn't conflict with his claws firmly pointed in the gentleman's face... as this could harm both himself and everyone in the Club.

"It's no big deal, I thought he'd gone away to sort something out or rest." Kentaro lied slightly so that she wouldn't think he was concerned about anything other than the focus of the meeting.

In the back of her mind, Rias wonders a little about his answer… but eventually puts it aside and gets up from her chair so that she can begin her meeting, which will last a few hours until everyone reaches a consensus and Kentaro's first mission begins.

[Day 4, 6:20 PM, (Monday) In the Room of the Occult Studies Club]

Above the streets, where the sky was already night, a boy was riding a bicycle heading towards the Kuoh academy… Kentaro was handing out some flyers to the civilians of the city, which was the same flyer that had saved him against Yuuma.

"It wasn't a difficult job, I always did it to advertise the video editing agency." Kentaro felt light-hearted, as he was used to going around to different places to hand out flyers to new clients.

"You just need to give it to someone so that they can call on you to become their slave." Rias' words echoed through Kentaro's mind, explaining what to do with the flyers.
