Chapter 7 : The very next day,

"Sona, are you going to attempt to recruit them?" Rias asked her best friend and rival, Sona Sitri.

The two were in the Student Council's room, the two playing a match of chess. "I've got my eye on them, and I felt the male would be better as my [Rook] and the female my [Knight]. I still have my eight [Pawn] pieces and I plan to use some of them on my first pick. Also, check."

The violet-eyed Kaichou explained her observation of the two newest transfer students. Kasane Randall and Hiroki Kuno. They both were…interesting to the Heiress of the Sitri Pillar Family. While she and her [Queen] noted that they were at least human or half-human, they were on guard. They were aware of the Supernatural.

Rias contemplated her friend's words, "They both could work for our Peerages…but they give off the feeling that separating them is a bad idea. Koneko reported back and she said that once they entered their apartment, there was a spike in magical energy within the premises. After it died down, she no longer could sense them within the property."

"Hmm…curious. It makes me wonder how long they have been here and where they went…" it clicked in her mind, having recalled where they hailed from. "They live in Kyoto…could they have ties with…no that's not proper…but it's not illogical to think otherwise."

"Uhm, Sona?" Rias waved a hand in front of her friend, "You're doing that thing again."

The Kaichou snapped out of her thoughts, "My apologies."

A giggle from Rias, "A Yen for your thoughts?"

The Sitri Heiress sighed, "They both came from Kyoto…meaning that they are in the territory of the Western Youkai Faction. They could be spies."

"If they are…" Rias said. "Then we deal with it, efficiently. No quarter, we could even enlist them into our respective peerages."

"That could potentially anger the Youkai faction if they are not spies. This seems unusually cruel for you. Are you sure that you haven't picked up your [Queen's] sadistic tendency?" Sona asked as Rias managed to get out of check…only to fall into Sona's trap.

"I won't take chances in our territory."

Sona once more moved Rias into check, "On the topic of our peerages, did you lose interest in Hyoudou?"

"Mmh, no," the redheaded Gremory said. "I have a plan."

Sona didn't like the way her friend's eyes glittered. Since she was of a different house, she could not pry into the affairs of another house as it was taboo. She couldn't ask her elder sister because even though the sister of Sitri was in a higher position, she would feel guilty for making her waste time on such simple matters as this. Even though she knew that the magical girl would always make time for her.

Plus, if they were a part of the Youkai faction in some capacity, it would provide insight. "Checkmate, Rias."

The redhead pouted with puffed cheeks, "Aww, thought I was getting close."

"I figured out your strategy seven moves in," Sona said with a hint of smugness, as the game took only twenty-six turns, which is fast for a chess game.

Rias stood, her bust bouncing in a way that would make a man erect in seconds. "See you tomorrow, Sona. We'll monitor them together, report any oddities we find, right?"

"That's agreeable. Good night, Rias," Sona nodded to her departing friend before the flash of the House of Gremory circle flared and the redhead disappeared.

Sona sighed, laying back in her chair, biting her lip in thought. A magic circle of the Sitri House appeared by her ear. "So-tan! It's not often you call. What can the magical girl Levi-tan do for you?"

"I need some information."

-------------------

The very next day, Sona could be seen at her desk with a troubled expression. The information her sister could give her was not conclusive but it confirmed something that she had doubts about.

Hiroki Kuno and Kasane Randall do have ties with the Youkai Faction but they do not involve themselves with it.

She recalled the conversation, "Information about what, So-tan?"

Ignoring the nickname, "Seraonee-sama, information about two transfer students that came today. They were on guard with us as if they knew about us."

"Their names?" The magical girl's voice inquired.

The Student Council President immediately called them out, "Kasane Randall, and Hiroki Kuno."

Upon hearing those words, the girl's voice, Sera, turned serious, "I'll have to stop you there. As Maou of Foreign Affairs, I cannot disclose anything about them. However, I can say that they are close with the Youkai Faction but actively choose not to participate. The only thing I can say that doesn't break anything is that Yasaka-chan took them off the streets, they were orphans. As for why that is, you'll have to find out for yourself, So-tan. Now," her voice turned playful, "please take care of Kas-chan and Hiro-kun, and thank you for calling me, even if it was for business. I miss you my precious imoto!"

Sona sighed with a small blush and a tiny voice, "I will, and I…miss you too, Sera-nee."

With that, the magic circle faded from existence before she could hear the squeal that Sera unleashed.

While she wanted to know more, if her sister couldn't disclose that, she knew that she would eventually have to ask them herself.

At that moment, the door opened and entered the rest of her peerage, alongside a male that looked utterly confused. "Welcome, Genshirou-san."

"Kaichou? What's going on?" The boy is known as Saji Genshirou asked.

"Tell me: Do you believe in the supernatural?"
