Chapter 18: Confiding in Emile

When she felt steady enough to walk again, Julietta walked forward slowly, looking to her left and right. She didn’t know where Emile or Sheila were and she did not want them to spot her. She also tried to spot the wolf in the woods because she could not accept the fact that it could have appeared on the waters of the lake.

Julietta walked out of the woods cautiously until she was standing right in front of the lake. There was no one and nothing there, so she turned around and scanned the forest.

“I don’t see anything and I don’t have a flashlight today, so I will not go in search of the wolf,” she said out loud. “Besides, I’ve already been on the other side of the stream already,” she added.

Julietta waited for a little while longer, then she turned around to leave and head home. So, she walked down the footpath with quick steps.

When she reached the end of the footpath, she turned around and looked at the forest just to be sure that nothing unusual was there.
