Chapter 16

Upon being queried by the officer regarding the contents of the video in question, Risha replied with a composed equanimity, "Indeed, sir. The individual depicted in the footage had been inquiring as to the location of the departure gate for the flight bound for Paris, and I was momentarily taken aback by his sudden appearance." The officer nodded in comprehension, granting her permission to proceed to her hotel accommodation.

As Risha journeyed to her destination via taxi, she noticed the presence of several police vans on the road. Initially, she surmised that they were en route to a specific destination. However, as the vehicles remained in close proximity to her own conveyance for an inordinate amount of time, she began to entertain the possibility that they were tailing her. This realization only served to exacerbate her anxieties, as she deemed her previous account of events to be lacking in credibility.

As Risha's fears regarding the presence of the police vans intensified, she instructed the driver of her taxi to take a circuitous route in an effort to gain some time to formulate a plan to evade the supposed pursuit. However, the driver appeared to be unaware of the situation and remained focused on his task of navigating the vehicle. Risha's anxiety reached a crescendo as she grappled with the inexplicable nature of the events transpiring around her. Despite her having led a life characterized by peaceful compliance with the laws of society, she found herself in a predicament that threatened to upend her existence.

As she struggled to regulate her breathing and prevent a panic attack, she was startled by an sudden, deafening noise. Whipping her head around, she saw that the police van in question had been involved in a catastrophic collision with a truck. The sight before her was one of chaos and destruction,  with the van and truck having sustained significant damage and flames licking at the wreckage. It was immediately apparent that no survivors were to be found among those involved in the accident.

Risha found herself frozen in shock and dismay, unable to fully process the implications of what she had just witnessed. The reality of the situation gradually dawned on her, that the event she had just witnessed was a tragic accident and it was not related to her at all. She couldn't shake the feeling that this was all some sort of macabre coincidence, a cruel twist of fate that had brought an end to innocent lives and forever altered her own.
