Trouble in New York City

Chapter 15

….

"You got lucky you know that?" Luna looked at her daughter sternly. "What would you of done if he would've used his sword?"

"Why would that matter? Since he's a Lightning Dragon he would use a sword that's made from A Fire Dragon's scales right? The blade wouldn't work on me."

"Wrong." Luna said. "As you know human weapons are ineffective against dragons and for the most part that's true but if a Dragon applies enough pressure to a blade it can and will kill a Dragon either by piercing their heart or by decapitation."

"That's surprising." Said Cyrus. "I thought there was only one way to kill our kind."

"You don't live as long as I have without learning a few things along the way." Said Luna. "Knowing them I bet their already aware of you taking out one of their own."

Cyrus nods.

"They were probably watching. They'll strike again soon I'm sure of it." Luna said

"Yeah."

"Hunny I'm home." Chris said

Everyone looked at Chris.

"Where have you been?"

"I was training some fellow Fire Dragons." Chris replied. "I sensed the battle. You did well Naomi."

Naomi smiled.

CASEY WILLIAMS REPORT TO THE PRINCIPALS OFFCE I REPEAT CASEY WILLIAMS REPORT TO THE PRINCIPALS OFFICE

Casey who had been walking with his friends frowned

"Dude what did you do?" Asked Henry

"I don't know. You guys go on ahead. I'll meet you at the arcade."

"Are you sure?" Asks Tessa

"Yeah."

"Ok. Fine we'll see you later then." Said Henry. "Cmon Tess."

"Right…"

Casey watched as his friends walked around and disappeared down the hall. He sighed before heading towards the principals office. 'I wonder why they want me. I didn't do anything.' He thought

After a few minutes he arrived at the entrance to the office. He took a deep breath before opening the door to the office.

"Hello Casey."

The Dragon stared at the Principal. He wondered why he was called here as he didn't remember doing anything that warranted a visit to the principal's office

"Ms. Johnson. Why did you call me here?"

"I'm sure your curious." Said Ava. "But I'm gonna get right to it."

Casey watched with wide eyes as Ava pulled out a sword from behind the desk.

"Oh shit."

Ava smiled as she swung the blade around expertly. "Prepare to die Dragon."

'How does she know?!' Thought Casey as he got into a defensive stance. 'I've never really told anyone of my dragon side of my family besides Tessa and Henry."

Casey went to escape through the door but Ava had backup in the form of Ken Johnson. He watched as he unsheathed his sword from his hip.

"Dragon. Today you die."

"You would kill me?" Asked Casey wondering why these people were so eager to kill an 11 year old boy.

"Of course we will. It's the job of us hunters to eliminate dragons. The world will be a better place without dragons in it." Said Ava as Ken nods clenching his blade in his hands.

'I have to get out of here.' Thought Casey with a frown as his eyes darted all around the room to see if there was a way out of this situation.

"Looking for a way out?" Ken asked. "There isn't. Your not gonna escape your alive."

Casey glared at him before an idea struck him. He held his hands out and let fire escape his hands like a flame thrower as he pointed his hands at the ground in front of the two hunters.

"Shit!"

Casey stared at his would be killers before opening the window and jumping out onto the ground below.

"Damn it! Get back here you little brat!"

Casey grunted as he ran away. He had to let his mother know what had happened. 'I have to hurry!' He thought as he increased his speed

Back in Detroit

Chris glanced at Cyrus. "My wife is right you know? A skilled hunter can easily kill you. Cy you have to be careful."

Cyrus frowned.

"Not only that but if a Dragon Pierced or crushed your heart with its claws that would be the end for you." Chris explained.

Cyrus took in his mentor's words as he realized everything he was saying had truth to it.

"I'll get dinner started." Said Luna as she walked away into the kitchen

"You guys are ok. That's all that matters." Chris said. "You didn't get involved this time Cyrus. Hm. I'm curious to see how far you've come."

He wasn't the only one either. Tiana and Naomi wondered how strong he had become in these past few years as he had quite a bit of private training when Chris wasn't teaching him how to be a proper leader. Though according to Chris he had come a long way with learning how to use his Fire.

Cyrus smiled. "I'm sure you'll see it one day."

...

Tara looked to her son as he burst through the door with a look of panic on his face. She stood up from the couch and made her way towards him.

"Mom!" Exclaimed the preteen

"What happened Casey? You seem panicked."

"Mom I was called to the principal's office today. I was surprised it's not often I get called to the Principal's office and when I arrived the Principal grabbed her sword. Not too long after that her brother showed up."

Tara narrowed her eyes. 'That sounds like….they've made their move already have they?' She thought

"You know who they are don't you? Mrs. Johnson and her brother." Said Casey. "Does this have to do with why you told me to never tell anyone I was a dragon?"

Tara nodded. "Those people were Dragon Hunters." She said. "They're gonna be after you now. Case you have to go but before that…."

Casey watched as his mother walked towards the home phone and lifted it up and picked up a small piece of paper, with the paper in her hand she walked back towards her son and handed him the paper. He looked down and saw that the paper had a number on it.

"I was told to give you that number should the hunters find you." Said Tara. "Call the number now."

Casey looked at his mother. "Mom-"

"Just call the number ok Sweetie?"

"Ok…" Casey reached inside his pocket and dialed the number and after a few rings someone picked up on the other line.

"Hello?"

"This is Casey….Casey Williams."

There was a few moments of silence before the voice on the other line that suggested the voice was a guy and most likely an adult if the deep voice was anything to go off of spoke. "They're after you aren't they?"

"Y-Yeah."

"You need to stay hidden young man." Said the guy on the other line. "Help will be on the way but most likely not for several hours. Can you find somewhere safe to hide?"

"Y-Yes."

"Good. Now I have to make a call. Stay vigilant and stay safe." With those final words the other line went dead causing him to take his phone away from his ear.

"Who was that guy?" Casey asked

"Someone whose willing to help. That's all you need to know for now. What did he say?"

"He told me to stay hidden." Said Casey. "That he's gonna send someone to help."

"Good. You should get going because this is the first place they'll come looking for you." Said Tara

Casey frowned. He realized he probably wouldn't see his mother for a very long time. Tara walked up to him and kneeled down so she was eye level with him. She then kissed his forehead. "Be safe out there kiddo."

The young Dragon looked emotional for a moment before nodding. "I will. I love you mom."

Tara smiled. "I love you too." She said. Casey looked at her for a few seconds before taking off running out the door.
