"Alright. You asked for it. I'm turning up the heat!" Goku decided, responding to Ginyu's desire to see his full power. "AAAAHHHH!" Goku screamed, Turning the dial up on his power level. Ginyu watched with a smile as it broke the 100,000 threshold. His smile faltered a bit when it broke 110,000, but it didn't stop there.
"Stop. No."
115,000.
"Stop going up! Stop it! I thought that you were only holding back a little bit!!! 125,000!!? AHHHH!!" Ginyu began to freak out. "I can handle... 140,000?! Noo!!!" Ginyu screamed, but his eyes were trained on his scouter at this point. It was mesmerizing, like a terror-filled drug. Ginyu knew that he'd made a huge mistake, but all he could do as the number on his scouter kept going up.
150,000
160,000
180,000
It wouldn't stop. Ginyu wanted to cry.
200,000.
Finally, the rate at which it was going up began to slow down at 210,000, before stopping...
"Two-hundred-twenty... thousand..." One hundred thousand higher than Ginyu's own maximum power level. "Is this a bad joke!? It has to be, right!? My scouter's just malfunctioning!? HAHAHAHAHA!!!! It has to be, right!? AGGHHHH! NOO! It's definitely real!? Why me!?" Ginyu's body immediately reacted according to his years of experience. It reacted the same way it did when Frieza was around and angry. He jumped into the ocean, out of sight. 'No. I am CAPTAIN GINYU! Leader of the mighty Ginyu Force! I cannot run from a challenge! I just have to... If he's a Super Saiyan, though...' Ginyu slowly, cautiously rose out of the water, eyeing Goku warily.
"You done with your panic attack yet?" Goku called out a question.
"Yeah... I think so. I just needed to get my head on straight. I never thought I'd ever meet an actual Super Saiyan. Thought that was just a superstition." Ginyu admitted.
"I don't know about any superstitions. I didn't exactly grow up hearing Saiyan legends, you know. Actually, I didn't even know Saiyans were a thing until last year."
"Yeah, I heard about you. Raised on some backwater planet, right?" Ginyu tried to keep the conversation going, looking for some chink in Goku's armor that he could exploit. Eventually, he found it.
"Earth. And I'm proud of it. It's my home. I bet you have a home, too. People that miss you, and would be sad if you died?" Goku asked, "You don't need to fight me. It'd be futile. You'd lose, and those people would probably be sad. All you need to do, is say that you're sorry for the pain you caused, and I promise that I'll let you go."
Ginyu remembered that Goku had offered this before. He still wanted to laugh at the concept. He'd rather die than apologize to anyone, even a monster like this. The Frieza Force was Ginyu's home, and his family, the Ginyu Force, was already dead on the ground.
But getting this offer, Ginyu realized that Goku wasn't joking. When he'd mentioned it before, Ginyu had brushed it aside. He hadn't been paying much attention back then, because he'd believed that he was the indisputable strongest person there, but Vegeta had called Goku... softhearted.
"Ha! Ahahahaha! That's it!" Ginyu realized. "You're no Super Saiyan! A Super Saiyan is a legendary warrior, born of rage. They don't have weaknesses, but you! You do! I see! You're weak, and that's why you've already lost this fight!" Ginyu shouted, laughing with glee. He knew exactly what he needed to do.
"What are you talking about? Just apologize, and you can go home! No matter what I do here, karma will do exactly what it needs to. If you leave now, you might even become a good person one day!" Goku pleaded. "I don't have to kill you, but I will if you make me."
"Then try." Ginyu goaded, spreading his arms wide. "Try to kill me! I dare you!"
"You're insane." Goku exclaimed.
"Maybe so, but I'll never repent! To my dying breath, I serve Lord Frieza! My life is his, and I refuse to turn my back on him! So kill me now, or I swear that I'll find a way to kill you, no matter how much of a monster you are!" Ginyu shouted.
Goku gritted his teeth, unwilling to kill an unprotected man.
"Maybe I'll start by hunting down your family! I'll even ask Lord Frieza if he'll let me rule this 'Earth' under him! That way, I can torture them all for as long as I want! If you don't stop me now, everyone you know and care about will die painfully by my hand! Ahahahaha-"
"Fine! If you want to die so much, then I can't stop you. For my family, I'll put you down right here. KA-ME-" Goku began to charge up a Kamehameha wave.
"Ahahaha!!" Ginyu's body began emitting energy, but Goku wasn't sure what exactly he was doing. To Goku, it didn't really matter. Ginyu wasn't a threat compared to him.
"HA-MEEEE!!!" Goku hesitated for a moment, his doubts surfacing again. It was only a moment, but it was exactly what Ginyu had been waiting for.
"CHANGE NOW!" Ginyu's voice cut right through Goku's, swallowing up the Kamehameha wave's pent-up energy with it. To Goku, it felt as if his very soul had been frozen in place, which it had. Then, it was pulled right out of his body.
For an instant, Goku's vision changed. Suddenly, he was looking at his own body, from the outside. He raised his hand, but he couldn't really see it. It was pure, blinding white. He could see through it, but at the same time, he could see every single molecule that made it up. He knew it, because it was him. Whatever he was looking at, made up the essence of who he was. He could move it a little bit, but in this form, Goku couldn't sense his energy, and he couldn't move much more than a hand by his own will. He could only helplessly watch as a disgusting, black soul came flying towards, then past him... no, they were both moving.
'NOOO!!!!'
