Chapter 2: Kendo club: Battle For Disbanding

Student Council Office

Lunch Break

"Phew~ finally I'm done with auditing. Thanks to Nami we're able to pay for the school cafeteria without having to touch the school fund", Ussop leaned on the couch after closing his laptop.

"Sanji! I'm hungry!", Luffy shouted. The door was open wide with the yellow twirlbrow entering with the food aesthetically presented. "Good job!", Luffy started gobbling. "Come on Airi! You need to fatten up as well. Did you forget? School Sports Festival is around the corner. We're going to be busy!", Luffy pointed at the lady making an inventory of materials to be used during the festival.

"More like we're the ones going to clean up your mess!", Nami, Ussop, and Chopper couldn't imagine the outcome. "Neh~ Airi, are you going to be in my team again this year?", Luffy asked. "Fortunately, I'm not", Airi answered and picked a gelato that Sanji dropped on the table. "Then, are you on my team? Airi-chwan?", Sanji's eyes turned into a heart. "Yes", she nodded. "I'm being divinely blessed. I'm also with Nami this year", Sanji made a victory post. "I guess so. Not to mention being on the same team with Zoro", Airi revealed and shattered Sanji's entire world.

Someone knocked on the door. "President, I'm here to make a request", Taisa Tashigi bowed very low. "Oh, Female-Kendo-Club-Captain", Luffy waved at her. "Tashigi is fine, President", Tashigi stepped forward. As she comes closer, her eyes dropped to the black-haired vice president having a conversation with Nami. "What's the request?", Luffy sat on the president's chair. Her stares went back to focusing on Luffy.

"Oh, right! President. I would like you to disband the Male Kendo Club!", she said with such conviction. "Is it about Zoro again?", Nami butted in the conversation. "Teaching how to wield a sword should be done step by step. He's letting the first-year male club members spar with the seniors. That's causing a lot to withdraw", Tashigi explained. "I understand how the two of you are not getting along but both of your clubs are suffering because you're sharing just one dojo room. The school principal already decided to have a mixed Kendo Club", Air stood up and stood beside Luffy. "I get that...it's just that-", Tashigi looked straight into Airi's eyes. She averted right away. "I understand. Sorry for my intrusion", Tashigi was about to leave. "Then, let's have a competition. Whoever loses will have to give up their rights", Luffy leaned on the table.

"Luffy!", Nami gasped. Airi looked at Luffy's serious eyes. "I will arrange for the competition. Where should it be done, President?", Airi asked. "Wait! Airi, I know you're the vice president but you don't have to obey all that Luffy has to say if it's against your principles", Nami sweatdropped. "That's disrespectful Nami. I'm the president", Luffy pouted.

"We shall do it in the Gym", Luffy smiled widely. "Wait. I haven't yet agreed", Tashigi panicked. "You can show me your resolve in your duel", Luffy calmly said.

Outside the Gym

"You really don't have to do it", Nami was convinced. "I'll be helping in cleaning the mess", Airi said while holding a request for the basketball and volleyball teams to make room for an event after class.

"Stay still if you don't want to break your arms", they heard someone behind the gym. The ladies peeked and saw female students gathered around. "Sensei, is he going to be alright?". "I think I am also feeling dizzy". "Sensei, someone is having a nosebleed".

"The student council is here", one of them said.

"It's the vice president", one turns around and the group suddenly made way. Airi saw a white lab gown. "Oh, I'm feeling better. Thank you, sensei", the man stood up and felt relieved. "Are you a magician? I was just near at dislocating my arm", his eyes glittered. "Don't go climbing trees here in school", he said with a straight face. The man finally turned and saw two ladies standing in front. He looked at their badge. "Oh, Law-san", Nami recognized. "Nami-ya, I see. You're also attending this school", Trafalgar looked at the orange head. "Law-san, have you already seen Luffy. He'll be glad to see you", Nami tried to lead the way.

"I don't want to get any headache", Trafalgar cracked his neck. "I understand. See you around then", Nami waved her hand. Airi just stood looking at the new face interacting with Nami.

After Class

"Are you ready to witness a clash between two Kendo Club President? Let me tell you again. Taisa Tashigi won the female national kendo competition in her primary school. Ronoroa Zoro wasn't much of a deal from the younger days but he managed to beat Taisa Tashigi during middle high in a mixed competition!", Ussop announced.

"Hey, what's with my introduction?", Zoro glared at Ussop.

"Serves you right!", Sanji booed at him. "Go! Tashigi-chan!!!", Sanji shouted.

The entire room is filled with excitement. Male students are cheering for Tashigi and female students are cheering for Zoro.

Airi covered her mouth. The noise is making her feel sick. "I think we'll be needing some first aid kits. Chopper said he'll be talking to his plants. Hmm, I heard the school nurse resigned. It'll take it longer to prepare for ice and hot waters", Luffy furrowed his brow. Airi looked at him making such a puzzled look. "I'll go and prepare them", Airi excused herself. She passed by the corner and saw Nami selling pictures of Tashigi and Zoro. "Hands off, that's a thousand yen", she glared at some men trying to steal some photos.

Clinic

"Pardon my intrusion. I was tasked to prepare a first aid kit", Airi peeked and saw that no one is around. She went to the cabinet to get an ice pack and also some bruise spray.

You're here again. Why don't you hang out with your friends?

You're one of the most depressed students I've seen.

"Yohohoho! Is that so, Franky-san. I wish I could have seen more", Brook's voice resonated around the silent room. She heard footsteps outside. The room turned silent again. Something on the table caught her attention. She walked towards it and saw a medical book with neatly written notes beside it.

Whoever owns this seems to be serious with his study.

Airi stayed in the clinic trying to figure out where is what. The new school nurse rearranged almost everything. She wonders how was the spar going. She wanted to watch it. Her phone rang.

Airi, you don't need to come. The competition is already over. Zoro won. They're headed towards the clinic. Tashigi sprained her ankle.

The door slid open with Zoro had an argument with Tashigi. He's holding her in his arm. "The school nurse is not here. I'll just call him", Airi was about to leave. "Stay!", Zoro and Tashigi said in unison. Airi just nodded and stood next to the door. Just in case they resorted to killing each other to keep the club. "Make sure you close the dojo. Also, don't leave sweaty towels. Make sure the shower room is clean before leaving", Tashigi enumerated. "Say, you never complained about doing the job. Did I hit you that hard?", Zoro walked towards the bed. Suddenly, Zoro felt something drop on his cheek. "Are you crying?", Zoro teased.

"Shut up. I really wanted to make those girls reach nationals", Tashigi sniffed. "With that level of practice, they'll go nowhere", Zoro dropped her onto the bed. Tashigi sat down covering her face. "Enough crying. The penalty for losing ain't that big deal", Zoro scratches his nape. Airi looked at the looming darkness above Tashigi and was about to interfere. "What's so difficult with sharing the dojo room? It's huge", Zoro sighed.

"What?", Tashigi and Airi asked in unison. "The penalty was either the two of us quit", Tashigi protested. "Huh? Haven't heard of that. If you want to quit, I have nothing to do with that", Zoro stood in front of her as if challenging the lady.

Airi just watched the scenario and smiled. "What a creepy smile", someone commented.

Zoro left and Trafalgar wrapped a bandage around Yashigi's ankle. "Reckless brats", he pinned it then sat on his chair. "Thank you Sensei. I now understand why female students in my class don't sleep as much as they used to", Tashigi chuckled. "Do you need me to assist you?", Airi tried to offer help.

Tashigi's friends came over and helped her. Airi looked back at the emotionless dude picking the book from the table again.

"It's beyond my time", Trafalgar gave the lady a look indicating for her to leave.
