Chapter 42: Long Yuyin vs Lin Tong

"Huh? My spirit power went up by 1 rank?" Feng Qin looked down at his hands in amazement, spirit power from his body fluctuated slightly stronger than before.

'As I had thought, fights bring out one's potential more than training or cultivation,' he thought with a smile,

"Looks like I'll become a Spirit Grandmaster much sooner than I first thought."

"You're amazing, Master!" Long Yuyin exclaimed, vibrating in her seat besides Feng Qin with excitement. "You fought with such skill and determination, it was truly awe-inspiring! Moreover, you don't even look exhausted after using all sorts of secret techniques at your opponent. I can't wait to see how much stronger you become!"

"Oh also, if we don't fight in the upcoming matches, can we spar?" Her eyes flashed with battle intent.

Long Yuyin wanted to become strong, her ambition was to become a Titled Douluo like any young spirit master.

In her eyes, the only person she would consider sparring with was Feng Qin, her beloved Master. She had a deep respect for him and admired his strength and skills. She believed that by sparring with him, she could learn a lot and become stronger herself.

'I don't want to be left behind...And I want to protect my master.'

Then she glanced towards the cross-legged Cao Fengzi, cultivating, and narrowed her eyes.

Those who fought against her master are classified into two categories by her; first is that they're an enemy while the second is that they're someone...that needs to know their place.

The difference between the two, is that the former is someone whose only ending is death while the latter only needs to be taught a lesson.

Long Yuyin was fiercely loyal to Feng Qin, and anyone who dared to challenge or disrespect him would face her wrath. She was willing to put her life on the line to protect him if necessary.

No one will threaten her master's life, no one!

Feng Qin chuckled and patted her head affectionately, not noticing the flash of red in her eyes. "Thank you, Yuyin. Your support means a lot to me. We'll continue training together and achieving new heights. But for now, let's focus on the upcoming battles. We have Mei Lin's situation to handle, other geniuses to fight, and I won't let anyone stand in our way of getting those rewards."

"Un." Long Yuyin shyly nodded, her eyes normal and lovely.

Feng Qin couldn't help but smile at her adorable reaction, and turned towards the arena.

There were some young spirit masters fighting in their respective areas.

"So, do you know who your opponent in the next round is?" Feng Qin asked.

"Un. My opponent is someone named Lin Tong and I've seen him in fights before. He's a Spirit Grandmaster, rank 25 to be exact with 2 white spirit rings, and a control System Battle Spirit Master. Normally I wouldn't take someone seriously with a weaker cultivation base and with a white spirit ring, but his control abilities are superb and Spirit and spirit abilities are...strange."

"Strange how?" Feng Qin asked, not surprised that Lin Tong guy had superb control capabilities, since he managed to reach this late of the competition which is mostly made up of Spirit Elders.

"Emerald Viper Vine. It's a plant type spirit with the characteristics of an Emerald Viper, an extremely corrosive spirit beast snake, its long emerald vine can pierce through rock and metal. It's also highly venomous and can paralyze its victim. But the strange thing about his Spirit is that with his 1st spirit ability he can control vines to split and grow rapidly, making them hard to predict and evade. His second spirit ability make them as hard as metal, or emerald to be exact," Long Yuyin explained, her eyes narrowing in focus.

It was really illogical for Lin Tong's first two spirit rings, both ten year old spirit rings, to be that strong.

Were they mutated spirit rings or something?

"He sounds like a formidable opponent," Feng Qin said, his interest piqued. "But we have our own strengths and abilities. We'll have to come up with a strategy before the battle."

"Though, I'm not really confident if I can make a strategy to fight against a Control System Battle Spirit Master, the most intelligent and troublesome type of Spirit Masters."

"Don't worry master, I trust you can lead me to victory," Long Yuyin replied obediently.

Feng Qin dryly smiled at her, "Stop calling me master, again, and just call me by my name. My first name even. And look, looks like it's going to be another exciting battle. Let's watch and learn."

"Ah, but what about your next match, mas...Qin? Do you know who it is?"

"Some girl named Cang Yuyue. But I wouldn't worry much about her. I've seen her fighting style and battle prowess, I can easily take care of her." Feng Qin said with a confident smile.

Though he couldn't help but feel that something was...off about her.

Wonder why?

Meh it's probably nothing.

Feng Qin stretched his arms out with a relaxed expression and decided to get himself a chili dog.

Anyone would've been worried for their next match, especially after using martial skills and a spirit ring ability one after another, but Feng Qin's spirit power recovery is unparalleled by his peers due to the Heavenly Vast Universe Art.

Cultivating the first level of the Heavenly Vast Universe Art had formed a Spirit Power Fire Core or Fire Spirit Core in his body that acts as a sort of storage or battery of spirit power; making him able to recover his spirit power faster than anyone below six rings.

This was also why he wasn't worried about using too much spirit power in his fights, as he knew that he could recover it quickly and fully.

Feng Qin leaned back in his seat, taking a bite of his chili dog, he watched the battles with interest and occasionally commenting on the fighters' strengths and weaknesses.

Time passed quickly and soon it was Long Yuyin's turn to fight.

She confidently strode towards the arena, her eyes focused and determined.

Her opponent, Lin Tong, also walked towards the arena with calmly, a light smile on his face.

The two face against each other by a distance of five feet.

Lin Tong cupped his hands together and said,

"Lin Tong, Control System Battle Spirit Master, rank 25, Spirit Grandmaster."

Long Yuyin also returned the gesture.

"Long Yuyin, Assault Power System Battle Spirit Master, rank 31, Spirit Elder."

The referee looked at the two contestants, raised his hand, and announced, "Begin!"

The battle began and Lin Tong immediately started controlling his Emerald Viper Vine, 2 white spirit rings rose up underneath his feet, sending it towards Long Yuyin with lightning fast movements.

However, Long Yuyin was able to evade the vines, using her own agility and speed to dodge them. She then activated Spirit Body Enhancement, her three optimal spirit rings rose up.

Lin Tong then tried to attack her directly with his vines, but Long Yuyin merely punched out a golden fist, scattering his vines, leaving him vulnerable to her attacks.

"You've gotta be kidding me...!" Lin Tong coldly sweated and immediately jumped away, his first spirit ring shone a magnificent white light and his vines started to grow and split apart into a dozen pieces before heading towards Long Yuyin with ferocity.

1st Spirit Ring Ability, Emerald Viper Net.

The reason why Lin Tong's spirit ability is stronger than any average spirit ability related to his, is because he got his from a 90 Year Old Emerald Viper.

He of course wasn't planning on getting that sort of spirit ring, especially from a non plant-type Spirit Beast as that could be fatal. But due to certain circumstances, he didn't have any choice but to absorb it.

Either the Heavens had mercy or because the Emerald Viper has great compatibility with his spirit, but his first Spirit Ring actually had the power equal to at least a five hundred year old spirit ring! A bit stronger than ordinary first spirit rings.

Long Yuyin narrowed her eyes and was about to use her spirit rings but she then halted at her tracks, letting the green vines surround her and turning into a yarn ball.

It was deathly silent! Everyone wondered what just happened.

Did Long Yuyin just gave up?

'No. She figured out my plan,' Lin Tong knew that his Spirit couldn't hold her back for a long while, which is why he used it as a diversion and prepared to use his second spirit ability to follow up as a pincer attack.

But with her entrapped in a ball of his Emerald Viper Vines, he wouldn't be able to attack her...on the outside that is.

He coldly smiled,

"Idiot."

He raised his hand up, his second spirit ring brilliantly shone, covering him with a holy white glow, and the ground underneath him started to rumble.

'It went all according to plan.'

It was all part of his true plan. With her trapped in his first spirit ability, darkness covering her vision and his Emerald Viper Vines surrounding her from all sides, she wouldn't be able to notice his second spirit ring ability, Emerald Spikes, attacking her from the ground.

Of course, Lin Tong had taken account of Long Yuyin's abilities in some of her fights and know that her Spirit, Golden Blood Dragon, increases her physical capabilities and gains the abilities to use Fire and Blood.

As a plant-type Spirit Master, he was mostly worried about her fire abilities but he figured he'd be fine as long as he can injure her before she can use any Fire related abilities.

Right now, the several Emerald Spikes should already have–

Suddenly the green vine ball started smoking before a great explosion was heard and powerful flames engulfed the green vine ball, turning it into a gigantic fireball.

All of the spectators were shocked as they watched the explosion and the smoke cleared to reveal Long Yuyin standing unscathed, her eyes blazing with a bright, ominous red light. Her third spirit ring shining a bright purple glow.

"What just happened?" Lin Tong's face was filled with disbelief and shock.

Long Yuyin calmly explained, "My spirit ring abilities aren't just limited to physical attacks and enhancements. My third spirit ring ability is called Golden Blood Explosion, which, as the name says, allows me to control my blood to ignite the vines trapping me."

"Tch!" Lin Tong clicked his tongue and hurriedly ran to the side.

"Oh no, you don't!"

Long Yuyin then pounced towards Lin Tong, her first spirit ring ability, Golden Blood Dragon Body, activated with her fists glowing with fiery crimson flames.

What followed were very unmanly screams, the audience winced.

Lin Tong had no chance to react and was knocked out of the arena in a few seconds.

The referee then raised his hand and announced, "Long Yuyin is the winner!"
