Chen Jin was pacing around in the clearing.
He was extremely excited still, but it was slowly giving way to confusion. It is not normal to awaken sooner than six, and he had no idea of what to do, or even if he should someone.
Bai Huo and her cousin weren't spirit masters, and he had a feeling that he couldn't just go to Soto city and say 'Hi! I'm Chen Jin, still four and I have full innate spiritual power, pleased to meet you!'.
Yeah... That wouldn't go over well, he had no intention of joining any force, and that seemed like a fast way to get... Invited to one. Disposed too.
'It does have its benefits' he thought with a measure of happiness, 'I did confirm that the reason why I couldn't control my soul energy before was I hadn't awake yet, neither did I have the knowlege to circle around it'.
He stopped pacing and looked at the ground, he was a bit calmer now 'I should probably hide it for now, I'll just take the time to understand my spirit first, while I think of what to do' it wasn't a great solution, he knew, but it was all he had for now.
Chen Jin smiled as he looked up 'Still, I never did expect that I would awaken... my martial soul...'
Is eyes widened 'awaken my martial soul! I can read mother's letter now that I can use the soul tool!'
He smiled a bit sadly, Chen Jin had tried opening the soul tool before, but before now he barely could control his energy inside his own body, and it wasn't truly his. He couldn't open it despite trying every few weeks since he got it.
He walked to a tree at the border of the clearing and sat down, he could see a bit of his house through the forest, the clearing was barely ten metres in.
He put his hand on his necklace, it hadn't left his skin since the day he received it, and guided his energy in, (it was so so much easier now, maybe he could start trying some of his ideas) felt the letter, and took it out.
Calling it a letter was a bit of a misnomer, he thought with some sadness as he looked at it. It was clearly a bit of paper, ripped out from somewhere and wrote on in a hurry.
He could see some teardrops on the page, 'Even in a hurry mother had a beautiful handrighting' he smiled, he was sad, but more from what could have been now than from a sense of loss.
The cousins had taught him how to read nearly a year ago now, 'thankfully they saw no need to wait until I got a bit older, or this would have bit awkward' he mused.
"Chen'er
I do not have much time, so I cannot tell you even a thousanth of the things that I desire to.
So I have to keep it brief. I write you this while sleep, the first time you do so, and the last I see you do. My name is Chen Wang, and your father's was Mo Yun.
As you now, we are dead, at the time that you're reading this, you should have nothing to fear, before dying I'm going to draw those that are trying to capture us away, they wanted to use us, me and you, as leverage over my uncle, a title that belongs to one of the three great sects, seven treasured glazed tile. They said as much.
Since you are reading this, with the time that has passed you should be safe
Take this letter to the sect, to my uncle, Chen Xin, to at least meet him once.
All I, and your father hope, is for you to be happy, and to know, that even if the time that we were with you wasn't long, we loved you more than life itself.
Love, your mother"
A teardrop joined those that were already on the page, he didn't want to, besides want he felt before being born, he didn't know them, but he was sad, and now that he looked back, he know that the last words she said to him amidst her tears were that she loved him.
I've been thinking... Are my chapters too small? Do they feel small? Or are they alright?
Thanks for reading!
