Chapter 19 First Battle Part 2

Nearly all of Point Bursts was spent breaking the dome, as such Tie Qiang was only pushed away.

Chen Jin's momentum was over unfortunately, and the shield bearer's greater experience showed, at the same time as the dome broke his first and second rings lit up nearly at the same time, first Tie Qiang suddenly turned, his shield glowing and then like before he suddenly accelerated.

Chen Jin tried to use another wave burst to dodge but he was too late, he'd only moved a bit before he was hit in the side and thrown through the air.

He didn't hit the ground, Feng Shizi having moved to catch him.

"You're alright?" he asked as he let him down.

"Yes, just a bit sore, thank you" The white haired child said as he moved his right arm. He'd put it in front of the shield to avoid being hit directly on his side.

"You still have a lot to improve, especially your reaction at the end, when you failed to properly hit your opponent you should have immediately moved away. Otherwise it was actually a very good first battle, it was both fast and short but it was more than enough to see you're current level" Flenders said as he approached them.

Zhao Wuji was also walking towards them, he was looking at Tie Qiang though "You on the other hand will have special battle training with me tomorrow. You should have used your first skill when he dodged you".

Tie Qiang looked resigned, he still tried to argue either way "Hey! How was I supposed to know that he could just suddenly completely reverse direction? The first time he didn't change..." he didn't talk with much energy, he already knew it was a lost cause.

Flender also looked at him, but he just raised a brow "Then almost loosing to somebody nearly ten years your junior because of an oversight shouldn't require more training?"

Tie Qiang deflated further while Feng Shizi snickered.

"And as both of you always train together the snickering lion over there will accompany you" Flender continued.

Chen Jin smiled at Feng Shizis mortification, he thought that after all the time that these two had probably spent with the Dean's they should already know their tempers.

"For today there is no more training, the two of you can show Chen Jin to the dormitories and the academy" Flender said before walking away with Zhao Wuji.

As Chen Jin watched them walk away Tie Qiang touched his shoulder, he had a casual smile now.

"Welcome to Shrek!" he said.

"Thanks, glad to be here. Excuse me for asking, but shouldn't the two of you already know the Dean's temper?" Chen Jin tilted his head in curiosity.

It was Feng Shizi that responded.

"It's not that we don't know their tempers, we talk back precisely because we know them. Even if we said nothing they'd just find a reason to do the same"

Tie Qiang nodded at that and continued "As you can see by looking around our conditions aren't the greatest, so the Dean and Vice Dean try to make up for that through other forms of training". He said

"Don't look at the vice Dean that sometimes comes off as rude when you talk with him. Whenever you ask him for help with training he always tries to help. Though admittedly his favourite way is practical experience. From time to time we ask him to increase the gravity while we train and he has no problem with keeping it up for as long as you can handle" Tie Qiang continued.

"He might curse a storm though" Feng Shizi shook his head.

"Either way, let's go our dormitories are a bit deeper in the village".

As they walked Chen Jin said to the Shield master "You have a surprisingly great mobility for a defensive spirit master, I never expected you to turn so fast"

"Yeah, I have. Spirit abilities as a rule become less useful as you go, the more you've improved since you got the the less effect they have. Because of that I decided to leave the purely defensive skills for later rings. The ones I have now are more suportive" he said.

"Tie Qiangs the hardest defensive spirit master to beat I've ever fought against" Feng Shizi said.

"Like you probably noticed his skills are tremendously helpful in a fight. The first one forcefully turns him so that his shield is facing his adversary while increasing his defence. As long as he uses it nine times out of ten even if he's caught by surprise he can use his shield to take the attacks, where his defense is the strongest" he continued.

"Hey! Those are my spirit skills that you explaining! At least let me be the one to do it!" The teen in question interjected while lightly shoving him.

Feng Shizi raised his arms in surrender "Alright, alright, you can do the honours then"

"As this idiot was saying my first spirit ability makes it so that I can always use my strongest defence against any attack.

The second one allows me to rush ahead to a maximum of five meters while similarly increasing my defense. It also has a small countershock, if somebody attacks me while using it they'd have to take a part of the streght behind their own attack. It only works in close quarters though.

The last one is my first purely defensive ability. It forms a dome of defensive energy that can defend more than one person. It can also defend against attacks that come from all directions".

While they talked and walked Chen Jin had already been shown the cafeteria and were now going to the dormitories.

"We've already talked about mine, what I'm curious about are yours now, what do they do? It seemed like you used three?"

"I only used two actually, like you can use your shield bash for more than just rushing the opponent I can also use mine to do more than just move fast, that last attack was the same skill. Just used in a different manner."

Both of them just nodded at that, it made sense, that movement skill seemed like a burst off force, the same as the attack.

"A very versatile skill then" Feng Shizi said.

Chen Jin nodded, it was.

"We've reached the dormitories" Tie Qiang said while pointing at the group of houses up ahead. "You can choose any of the ones on this side except the first, that one is already ours, the ones on the other side are the girls, but only Cao Desi lives there currently".

He pointed to the furthest one "Then ill choose that one" when they'd said the dormitories where deeper he thought the were deeper in the village, but the were actually on the other side, next to a small forest. The small wooden house he'd chose being the closest on the side of the males.

"One closer to the forest?" Feng Shizi asked.

"Yes, I've always took a part of my day to train and meditate in the forest near my home" he said as explanation.

"Alright, see you tomorrow then, you already know where the cafeteria is. When you hear a bell then go to where we spared it's there that we normally spar or Flenders announces something, it's your first day tomorrow so he should want to say something".

"See ya!" Feng Shizi said before turning to go to his own small house.

"See ya!" he smiled back before continuing further to the house he chose.

A few hours later Chen Jin was lying down on his bed. He'd spent the time till now cleaning, it had dust for days.

He was thinking about Tie Qiangs question earlier. Fortunately he only asked about what his skills do, not what they were. He assumed they were from his rings. Chen Jin didn't actually know yet what to say if somebody asked.

He turned on his side. They were thoughts for another time, it was time to sleep now, he hadn't done it in a while.
