19 Chapter 19

Chapter 19 — Training Again.

The next morning, Yu Qian entered the sword dojo with Ning Chen silently following behind him.

The two of them soon reached the very center of the dojo.

Yu Qian placed a bamboo sword above his shoulder. He started to search inside his pocket and then took out a brown blindfold.

"Wear this," Yu Qian shortly said as he handed Ning Chen the blindfold.

Ning Chen obediently wore the blindfold over, making him not being able to see anything.

He was only able to see darkness that stretched outward without any limits.

Ning Chen felt suffocated and frustrated as he couldn't see anything except for this dreary veil of darkness.

He then wondered if this is what it's like for the many blind people?

"How does it feel to being not able to see anything?" Yu Qian asked after Ning Chen wore the blindfold.

"It's strange and quite scary..." Ning Chen replied, feeling quite uncomfortable.

Yu Qian faintly nodded and placed down the sword that was hanging above his shoulder.

"Then let's proceed on training your senses."

"Will we not train on my sense of sight?" Ning Chen tilted his head.

Yu Qian shook his head and then realized that Ning Chen was currently blindfolded.

"That's something we will do in the future. Prepare yourself for now and let's start on tempering your other senses."

Ning Chen nodded and took a deep breath as he prepared himself.

Yu Qian saw Ning Chen had already completely prepared himself and then viciously swung his sword at Ning Chen's left thigh.

"Try to avoid my attack, Ning Chen!"

Wooshhh!!

Ning Chen was confused at those words and then heard a faint humming sound nearing him, but he couldn't tell where it was coming from.

Strike!!

"Argh!" Ning Chen screamed in pain, feeling something hard hitting his leg.

"Spread your senses to it's limits and feel your surroundings!" Yu Qian roared loudly as he chopped his sword at Ning Chen's head.

Ning Chen tried to concentrate very hardly and followed Yu Qian's instructions, but he was only able to vaguely feel the sensation of being close to getting hit.

Strike!

"Darn!"

Ning Chen gritted his teeth tightly, holding his head in pain. He was hit by the sword again without any chances to avoid.

Yu Qian chuckled lightly seeing this and stopped attacking with his sword for a moment.

"Try using your senses to feel the slightest vibration of the wind and hear the sounds coming everywhere to detect presences."

Yu Qian said slowly as he slashed his sword at Ning Chen's chest.

Ning Chen repeated Yu Qian's words inside his head for many times, trying to comprehend what he meant.

Thud!

He was once again painfully hit on the body, but the pain felt very distant as he slowly got immersed on feeling the slightest changes that were happening on his surroundings through his senses.

With the endless darkness blocking his sight, Ning Chen was slowly learning to not rely too much on his sight.

He instead started to concentrate more on his sense of touch to feel the wind brushing against his skin, and paying close attention to the sound of Yu Qian's movement and his sword.

Ning Chen was repeatedly smacked with the sword for countless times, but he was getting numb to the pain and was slowly improving.

Yu Qian slashed his sword at Ning Chen for the one hundred plus times and was expecting Ning Chen to get hit again, but he was surprised to see Ning Chen being able to narrowly avoid the strike.

A smile form on his face and he complimented Ning Chen.

"Well done for avoiding for the first time. Now, let's continue."

Ning Chen nodded quickly as he was still in his trance state.

He trained for the entire day, only taking breaks when it was time to replenish his hunger and stamina.

Ning Chen was able to avoid more strikes as time passed, but he discovered that his training was also growing difficult as he advanced.

His senses improved greatly, but he was still very far-away from unlocking his sixth sense.

...

Few days later...

Ning Chen went inside Yu Qian's study room which was filled countless books and different types of things.

This was the place where he studied medicine knowledge under Yu Qian.

The reason Ning Chen went inside the study room was because his master told him to study the various sword techniques placed inside here.

Although he was allowed to finally study those various sword techniques, Yu Qian didn't allowed him to learn those sword technique to their fullest.

Yu Qian wanted Ning Chen to study those sword techniques in order to create a technique which was very suitable for him.

It was a very hard thing, but with enough time and comprehension, Yu Qian was confident that Ning Chen would be able to create a set of techniques suitable for himself.

Ning Chen saw many books detailing about many different types of sword techniques. He was also able to find some movement technique and massage techniques.

He started to read and study some sword techniques and saw there were many complicated or simple sword technique.

However, the only thing that interested Ning Chen was the so-called Sword Draw Techniques.

The Sword Draw Techniques emphasized about being always in a constant state of high awareness and capable of quickly drawing out the sword to respond to sudden attacks.

It could be also used to quickly decimate the opponent who had it's guard down.

Ning Chen thought the Sword Draw Technique was perfect for his <Sword Draw> spirit ability and also to further improve his 'Rising Sun' technique.

He spent several days reading many techniques related to sword draw and was able to acquire many ideas on how to improve the <Rising Sun>.

Ning Chen had thought of combining the breathing method he learned from his master and his own sword techniques to form his own 'Dawn Breathing Sword Art'

The Dawn Breathing Sword Art currently had only one form/move.

The first form was the 'Extreme Rising Sun' which was created by the original 'Rising Sun' and the breathing method.

This form was about unsheathing the sword instantly and making a slash that pursued extreme speed and power.

There was also an extension of this first form and it's called 'Solar Flash'.

This move was something he created by adding his very powerful lower body.

The 'Solar Flash' move was about him quickly unsheathing his sword and then dashing at a blinding speed to decapitate the opponent faster than they can react.

However, those things were still just merely ideas of his and he would need a lot of work to make it real.

....
