Chapter 3.2

'This again? It feels strange,' Jun Mey pondered, maintaining a calm demeanor.

As a child growing up, Jun Mey was more sensitive than anyone. Her environment laid bare before her: easy to see through. However, the reason behind her level-headedness had always been that her foster parents left her alone almost her entire life. Moreover, her foster parents consistently motivated her to remain composed, even in the face of adversity.

'This thing looks more human than any human I can remember. The only difference is his primal instinct playing a role in his uncouth behavior,' Jun Mey thought, calmly glimpsing at the guy's back.

After a while, Jun Mey deliberately clasped her hand behind her back and slowly marched inside the library, not looking back.

As Jun Mey entered the library, she felt amazed by its magnificent interior: it surpassed the unassuming exterior. The architects had designed the space into multiple sections and rooms, each floor denoted by a unique type of paper or writing.

Jun Mey took the elevator directly to the third floor, her familiarity with the library's layout guiding her every step.

Jun Mey entered a room with bookcases displaying an array of historical volumes and encyclopedias.

As Jun Mey entered the place, her gaze fell upon a book titled "Chaos: Human History." The book's catchphrase stated that humans were the weakest and most preyed-upon species. Jun Mey's instinct and curiosity drove her to read the book, and she couldn't put it down. She recognized the title and felt compelled to learn more about it due to her interest.

So, while standing relaxed, Jun Mey calmly took the book and started flipping through it. She nodded, feeling contented. After a few moments, Jun Mey slowly walked down to a free seat to process the information.

{Xia Wuya's dorm.}

While Jun Mey looked through the ancient history of the Starlight nation, Xia Wuya's roommate celebrated her.

"Miss Wuya, you did a fantastic job. That bitch, Mey, won't dare to act arrogant before you again," a lady said, spreading her arms.

This lady had the same body physique as Xia Wuya; however, her face was unusually red. She was Tai Keixin, and they shared a dorm.

The dorm looked sophisticated: good lighting, posters and painting, a fridge, a study desk and chair, a computer, printer, and scanner.

"I could restrain her, thanks to you, Tai Keixin," Xia Wuya said before pausing to scowl. "However, we need more momentum to deal with her."

'I want to humiliate that girl a thousand times. Make her feel her existence is meaningless,' Xia Wuya pondered, clicking her tongue.

"Don't worry, Miss Wuya," Tai Keixin flicked her fingers. She smirked mischievously. "I have more ideas for her. Are you willing to participate?"

'I can't believe I'm like a joke, trying to pretend before you. Calm, calm. You discovered that girl, so have the patient—stay low!—till you drink her blood,' Tai Keixin thought, properly arranging herself on the chair. She sat in a contrived manner, evoking pity.

"I want her to plead and withdraw from the school," Xia Wuya said, furrowing her brow.

That's right, she deserves it," Tai Keixin responded, clasping her hands together.

"No, I want her to die miserably," Xia Wuya slammed the reading desk before her. 'What stupid title: the most beautiful girl. She's nothing more than a tramp,' Xia Wuya thought, gritting her teeth.

Although Xia Wuya brimmed with anger, she thought it was a miracle she had a fantastic servant. So it gave a small amount of peace.

{The library.}

Not knowing Xia Wuya's thoughts, Jun Mey had sat down to read what seemed to her like a great secret.

According to the text, wolves were ruthless cannibals who could either consume flesh or blood. Regardless of which they chose, it was out of volition. In short, wolves were just interested in the thrill of killing.

In the book, Jun Mey read about the individuals who discovered this minor but crucial information and were dubbed national heroes. They offered their lives in exchange for their testimony. These heroes ventured into the wolf colony, one of the restricted zones, to examine the animals. The leader, a competent but not exceptional hunter, managed to buy some time while evading the wolves and sending evidence of their presence to the humans. However, he eventually died while attempting to obtain and transmit the information.

'I used to assume this information—then a gossip!—as false, but things I've seen over the years have proven my suspicions incorrect,' Jun Mey pondered, maintaining a calm demeanor.

Jun Mey noticed something unusual as she continued to read.

The book portrayed humans as the weakest and most despised of the three species in the Starlight nation. Furthermore, they could elicit pity and were the most inventive and intellectual creators, capable of developing weapons of mass destruction.

During Jun Mey's time in the Starlight nation, she observed numerous cases of missing individuals, with the majority being students.

'Do people truly understand what is going on? Are we people's meals?' Jun Mey wondered but kept her cool.

Jun Mey arranged her chair, maintaining her breath. She pondered, "Are we truly the most intelligent species?" She believed intelligence to be subjective, dependent on one's familiarity with their current sphere of existence. Thus, she acknowledged the possibility of other things eluding human judgment.

The book claimed Starlight nation had superior beings who were appalled by human vulnerability and had removed themselves from their civilizations, despite the sympathy from others. These beings had a long history, dating back to the dawn of the Starlight nation. Moreover, it was tough (almost impossible) to see them. They were hunters, inheriting the power of war from their forefathers and training deep within one of the prohibited zones.
