Chapter 18

After work, both Eva and Lilian went to Lilian's apartment to pack some of the essential stuff she would need for the meantime.

Lilian apartment is located not too far from their company which made sense because she sometimes goes home during her lunch break. Her house is a two-bedroom apartment on the third floor of a ten-story building.

When they got to her apartment building, Eva insisted to come to help Lilian pack her stuff, since she was the one who suggested it in the first place. The both of them went up together into her apartment.

Lilian opened the door to her apartment to reveal a very beautiful setting. Eva has been to the building to pick her up sometimes, but she has never been inside her apartment.

"Your house is beautiful, I love the setting" Eva commented

"Thank you ma"

Eva frowned because she has told her several times not to be so formal outside work since they are about the same age as well.

Lilian noticed her frown, and she smiled apologetically because she is already used to calling her ma.

"Do you need me to help you with anything?" Eva asked

"Not really, I will just pack some clothes, accessories and my toiletries" Lilian replied

"Ok, I will be here waiting, just take your time, you don't have to rush"

Lilian nodded

Eva remembered she needs to call Aunty Rhode to prepare a room for Lilian to stay and to prepare more food since they would be having a visitor. After she got off the phone, she wandered around Lilian study, where there was a huge bookshelf. As she was going through the books, she saw a book that caught her attention and she grabbed it. As she opened it, a picture fell, she bent to take the picture but she was so shocked to see that its a baby scan.

Lilian walked out of the room, she saw Eva holding the picture she had hid in a book. Eva notice Lilian is out of the bedroom and tried to explain herself

"I'm sorry didn't mean to see this, this book only caught my eye"

"It's fine, I'm done packing the things I would need, we can go" Lilian replied as she collected the picture from Eva and put it on top of the shelf. Eva thought she would be angry but she didn't see a hint of anger in her face, just sadness.

As the left the apartment, both of them were silent till they got in the car and Lilian bust in tears. Eva was a little bit shocked but at the same time was worried.

"I can't forgive him, he is the reason my child die," Lilian said while crying heavily

Eva's heart sank hearing that statement, she knew that there was more to the story of just break up. Eva couldn't say anything, all she could do was to hug her tight. She couldn't imagine anything happening to Rosie, she was sure she would be broken as well.

Eva signalled to the driver to drive them home. Lilian was crying so hard that she couldn't breathe properly, all Eva could do was just be the shoulder she cried on. After a while, she stopped crying and didn't say anything else till they got home.

Rosie, as usual, ran out to greet her mother and the driver but she saw Aunty Lilian as well. After greeting her mom, she went towards Lilian and signalled her to bend to her level as she hugged Lilian without saying anything and whispered into her ears

"Aunty Lilian, if I hug you tight you won't be sad anymore. whenever my mummy is said and I hug her she doesn't feel sad anymore"

Lilian was moved, and try to pretend she wasn't sad

"Rosie, I'm not sad, you see I'm smiling" Lilian tried to convince her with her forced smile

"Aunty Lilian, don't worry ok, you will be fine, I know you are sad but if you keep smiling everything will be ok" Lilian nodded and smile to Rosie as she picked her up.

Eva was shocked and amazed at her daughter's maturity, She felt so proud of her daughter. She followed them inside as she wheeled Lilian luggage. She explained to everyone Lilian would be staying over till further notice due to some personal issues.

After addressing everyone, Eva took Lilian to the room she would be staying for the time been and told her to feel free and comfortable. She also told her to take the day off the next day to rest well.

Eva excused herself when she got to her room, she had a quick shower and changed into more comfortable loungewear. She remembered the statement Lilian made in the car, on their way home, although she doesn't know the whole story, she doesn't think anyone should go through that experience.

After Eva left Lilian, she had a hot shower and decided to lie down a bit, but due to the fatigue of the day, coupled with the cry, she was so tired she slept off.
