Chapter 17

On their way to the hospital, Addy was concerned about his mother's health.

He called his father immediately he got in his car.

"Hello Dad, where's Mom?" he wanted to confirm

"She's in the hospital " his dad replied

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Well she said she called you but didn't pick up"

"Yeah because I thought she wanted to talk to me about that lady but she should have messaged me at least"

"Well you know your mother, but you don't have to worry she's fine now and she's getting discharged today"

"That's good, I'm on my way to the hospital anyway. I will pick her up."

"Ok son, I'm with father at home, I had to come back home to attend to him. I guess I don't need to rush back. I will see you later then"

He hanged up

When he got to the hospital, he asked Clara the nature of his mom's sickness and she explained to him it was appendicitis and that she had a minor operation but she's fine now after he heard her explain to him like a professional, he was relieved to know she's worthy to be called a doctor. He told her to take him to his mother, Clara took him to his mother

The moment his mother saw him, she started crying

"I called you several times, I thought I was going to die"

"But you didn't " Addy replied casually

"Yeah, that is because of Clara, I called her when I couldn't get through to you and she picked up immediately and came to my rescue. I'm fine now you don't have to worry about me."

"Of course you are, if not they wouldn't discharge you"

"Why must you be like this to me my precious son, you didn't even say sorry to your poor mother" she pouted. She knows he can be cold but at the same time he's caring,

"Mother you know the reason why I avoid your calls, I will pick up only if you promise to stop. I'm sorry I didn't pick up your calls, I hope you forgive me" he hugged his mom

"You should bring home a wife and give birth to lots of grandbabies, then maybe I will stop" she teased him as she embraced him.

Clara stood at the corner of the room watching the mother and son duo, and she was smiling and even jealous that she wished it was her he hugged.

After checking out of the hospital, Addy personally drove his mom home and decided to stay over for the week, just to keep his mom satisfied and happy. Before leaving the hospital he had told Leo to go to his house to pack some of his office outfits since he doesn't have any at the Thompsons mansion.

After dinner, he went to check on his grandfather and his mother before going to his room.

His room was exactly he left it before moving out. His bedroom has its own private wardrobe, bathroom and study.

After he had freshened up, he decided to go into his study and do some work.

Meanwhile, Eva and Lilian lost their appetite after what had happened. So they went back to the office and continue their work for the day.

Eva thought she would ask Lilian if she would like to come to stay at hers for the meantime because she noticed Lilian's mood has changed drastically, she doesn't want Lilian thinking and get depressed. Even though she's her boss, she has never treated her less than a friend. Although they are not very close, they still talk like friends.

"Would you like to come to stay at my place for the meantime, till you feel better?" Eva asked Lilian as she came in to drop some files.

"I'm fine ma, you don't have to trouble yourself, I will be fine, thanks for worrying though" Lilian felt grateful towards her boss who seems cold on the outside but so caring and charming.

"I'm just really concerned about you, I don't want to sad or crying because of that guy. I'm sure if you come over to my house you will feel a lot better in no time as you know I have a lot of people who can entertain you enough to forget much stuff" Eva replied

"And you don't have to worry about work at my house or be shy. We can even be best buds and have a lot of girls nights" Eva continued, hoping she would say yes. she knew Lilian lives alone and she's an orphan, her only close relation was her grandmother, and had died two years ago, so far that she knows she is all alone. She knows what it is like to be depressed and she wouldn't wish it for anyone, so she's trying her best to be there for Lilian as a friend, not as her boss.

"Ok ma, if you don't mind then, I would love to" Lilian answered. She knew her boss means well for her, if not she wouldn't go that far to invite her to her house, and shes would love to have a lot of distractions after work for now.

"Ok after work, we can go to your place to pick a few things that are essential" Eva was relieved to hear Lilian agree to her suggest.
