“Sorry I’m a touch late,” Sage said, plopping into the chair across from her. “My roommate insisted on me trying this new recipe he’s playing with.”
Allie tore her gaze from the page. “Oh? You have a roommate that cooks? That’s what I need. My cooking is, let’s just say I’m not about to win any awards or anything.” She chuckled.
“Same.”
Checkers, excited by Sage’s arrival, approached her, laying his head in her lap. She scratched him behind the ears, cooing at him. “Hello sweet boy.”
“I take it your roommate is a dog person as well?”
“Actually, he’s more into cats, but he’s an equal opportunity kind of guy, as he’s reminded me more than once, especially while watching TV.”
