Chapter 79

The boulder smashed heavily against the first Dog of War, its thin body couldn't do anything as even the armour it wore deformed under the blow.

The bones echoed with a sickening crack, as his body was flattened completely under the weight of the boulder.

But the boulder didn't stop, taking down 7 more Dogs of War before finally stopping on the eighth. But the power was so intense the eighth dog of war's body was ruined.

Both arms were made into blood mist and half of his ribs were fractured.

Samuel looked on in pain, it was his bad order that led to this happening. But he looked back at the hippo and realised that this is a chance.

That blow seemed to have exhausted the already heavily injured Hippo. Its body had fallen to its forelegs as its mouth opened and closed, panting for air.

Samuel immediately took this chance, grasping the spear heavily and he sprant quickly towards the forehead of the Hippo.

''GraGH!'' The hippo gave a cry to try scare Samuel away, but its body was exhausted. It could do nothing but watch as Samuel approached it and the spear pierced heavily towards his forehead.

With a squelch the spear pierced through a layer of fat and skin, before heavily stabbing through the thick skull of the hippo.

''Bleh disgusting beast.'' Samuel stood on the bloodied nose of the Hippo, his spear heavily impacted deep through the skull of the Hippo.

Samuel looked down on the beast with some satisfaction, the corpse was slightly intact, but there were countless cuts all over its large hide.

Samuel estimated that this beast's body is worth around 30 Spiritual Crystals if sold to the Government. But would he sell it? Of course not.

Not only is the meat of the beast an incredible tonic for the younger generation, the hide can be used for suits of equipment and the bones can be forged into weapons.

Over the last 7 years since the war with the Eleflares, a basic refiner had appeared among Samuels Dogs of War. Although he had no specific talent for it, he had learnt the basics and could create ordinary equipment.

Unfortunately he can't produce Pseudo-Artifacts even with the best materials. So it is likely that this hippos bones and hide will be stored for future use.

But Samuel was more focused on the other gains. First off, was the Spiritual Crystals gained from the actual kill of the beast.

Samuel hadn't been on the Eternal battlefield, so he didn't know much of the internal workings previously, but now he understood it a little more.

When a beast or human or any race dies, the Spiritual Energy in their abdomen will evaporate into the Eternal Battlefield, in return for the energy the Eternal Battlefield will use it to condense a certain number of Spiritual Crystals depending on the dead person's strength.

The death of this Hippo was worth 10 Spiritual Crystals, and Samuel collected another 20 through the deaths of his own Dogs of War.

So a Dog of War quickly picked it up, and Samuel started to walk towards the large hole that the Hippo originated from.

He estimated that this should be the nest of the Hippo.

So Samuel cautiously slid down a sandy path before his feet touched against some hard rock. He walked forward before he saw a large entrance to a cave, easily twenty metres tall!

After standing outside and hearing no movement from within, Samuel gingerly approached the entrance before walking in. The first noticeable thing was the unimpeded stench of blood and faeces.

Samuel covered his nose and continued forward with EG1 trailing slightly behind him.

Along the entrance there were lines of corpses and skeletons, and many weapons, Samuel even spotted 3 Pseudo-Artifacts.

However Samuel quickly reached the interior. Inside was a large circular cave. Samuel immediately noticed a small pile of skeletons and some bloody corpses on the top.

He also saw the beasts bed, it was a pile of Spiritual Crystals, easily over 100, covered by a bed of hay. Clearly this was where the beast slept and practised and that was why it grew so strong.

However now these were all goods for Samuel. But he focused more on the goods left behind by the corpses piled up on a hill. There were easily 30 corpses on the pile and naturally they wouldn't have anything on them.

And the Hippo probably doesn't swallow equipment!

And as expected Samuel got a bit closer and found a small pile of objects. There were a dozen SpaceBack packs and 4 Pseudo-Artifacts and another 20 sets of equipment clearly forged from beast skin.

Samuel travelled around looting the cave, in the end he found close to 200 Spiritual Crystals, 7 Pseudo-Artifacts, 15 Space Backpacks each containing some common herbs, and 40 corpses of Rank 1 Warriors!

Out of all of this, the skeletons are of various different races, however with the exception of a couple of beast skeletons the rest all had a human-like figure.

However they are still a valuable resource. A Low Rank 1 skeleton can create a piece of good equipment for another Low Rank 1 Warrior. Many of the swords that Samuels Dogs of War are using are made of that.

And it is the most common material for low ranking warriors.

Middle Rank 1 Warrior skeletons can be used for support materials or handles for Pseudo-Artifacts.

Out of the 40 Corpses, 3 of them were Middle Rank 1 and the rest were low rank 1 corpses.

Samuel also loaded the corpses of his Dogs of War into the SpaceBacks to be used as materials. As for respecting corpses? Who ever heard of that?

Not to mention Samuels Dogs of War are still alive, just resurrected in a Soul Form in the Tomb.

And for these random warriors? Naturally they will be used whenever he wants. That's the ruthless nature of the Eternal Battlefield.

Although Samuel has lived on the civilised earth for many years before coming to Blue Star, he has also spent 26 years here and had long since been infected by the ruthless atmosphere.

It's present even for mortals. Bullies stealing money in school, beating up people they don't like, Samuels parents' business destroying peoples livelihoods, it's all common behaviour.

So something as small as using some dead warriors' corpses as materials? That is Child's play for Warriors. Samuel has heard of the atrocities that have taken place.

Massacring mortal families for a single Spiritual Crystal, Massacring mortals for a spell? Or a special practice technique! Especially during Racial Invasions.

It isn't uncommon for them to slay entire cities when they occupy them! And then use the Mortals bodies for various things.
