Super Goalie

Way before Derek reached the field for his PE class, he could hear the hooting and hollering of the students. Ever since the incident last week he could feel some changes in his body which he just summarized as puberty taking place.

He hadn't heard the strange voice in his head since that day, so he had just written it off as a dream, but there were two things he just couldn't accept as puberty

Derek had visited the library in the past few days, going through books about human anatomy and none of the books mentioned anything about puberty making it easier to hear things from a distance

Derek increased his pace as he got closer to the PE class, the others were already at the field.

He had been held back by Zayn who wanted to return to him his chain whip which got lost at the expedition.

The first-year students were scattered all over the field when Derek got there, Derek had made up his mind to play soccer, since he was a bit too short for basketball.

The kids on the field were just gearing to go into the pitch, he could see Chuck on the other end of the bench tying his shoe laces.

"Here boy" Goth threw a red shirt to Derek. Derek snatched the shirt out of the air. Goth was the PE teacher, he looked at his tab and stole furtive glances at Derek.

'Rank F?' Goth muttered to himself. He went through Derek's profile and just shook his head; his stats were too low.

Everything was way below the average bar, but Goth still had to put him on the team, all the first years were going to be on it because he was going to give each of them an opportunity to show what they were capable of. Especially those who had missed out on earlier PE classes, Like Derek

But he felt like it was a waste of time, giving a chance to Derek; he didn't even have enough stamina, Goth was sure he wouldn't even be able to play for five minutes.

"Fuuuuuuu" went the sound of the whistle as Goth signaled the start of the game. Derek could see the whole field from where he stood and he could see it clearly.

Goth had put him in the goal posts, even though it put his team at a disadvantage, but it would be better than putting him out front. Or so he thought.

Derek leaned on the bar waiting for some action, but there was mostly none. All he could see were groups of people in red and white struggling to get possession of the ball.

Suddenly, Derek could see white shirts running toward him, they were three and they had beaten most of his defenders, only two were left.

With quick passing between the three, they quickly beat the last two defenders and were only against the Goalie.

Now Derek looked up to see their faces, he could see Lancer leading the attack and two other people he could not recognize.

The striker at the left passed the ball to Lancer and he positioned the ball in front of him, ready to strike.

"There is now way I'm going to let this asshole score against me" Derek had suddenly gotten serious, he was just going to go with the flow of the game but seeing Lancer had pissed him off.

After what he had done at the expedition, even though the event was cancelled because of the incident that occurred on that day, Derek still hated Lancer for trying to ruin their day.

He blamed everything that happened on him, perhaps if Lancer hadn't been such a bully, they might have left that location before the beast appeared that day.

Mia still hadn't recovered completely and Derek had overheard the Headmaster trying to calm Lancers' parents because they were planning to take action against the students involved.

They blamed the incident on his group even though it was mostly Lancer's fault, this had greatly angered Derek

The reality of how the real world worked was beginning to quickly dawn on him, the rich and the strong did whatever they wanted and that included trampling on the weak.

Derek was really pissed at Lancer but he was just a weak Rank F and rumors had it that Lancer was close to breaking Rank D, even the second years trained and practiced like hell without even getting close.

The only thing he could do to get back at him was to stop Lancer from getting the ball past him.

As Lancer hit the ball, the force behind the kick immediately sent the ball flying. Coach Goth turned around, shaking his head in pity.

Derek channeled his rage into stopping the ball, he had to stop it no matter what. The ball moved too fast for a normal mind to react, but as it got within range of Derek, he could see the ball slow down.

Derek stretched his hand and reached for the ball and he touched it. When he touched the ball, it stopped.

Derek paused, ball in hand, everyone stopped, the pitch was silent. It was as if time had stopped, but all eyes were on him, the goalie for the red team.

Then suddenly, the pitch roared in screams. Not just the red side of the spectators but also the white side. Everyone was clapping and cheering.

Derek was frozen at the spot, 'had the ball somehow slipped past him and gone into the post?' He looked at his hand and the ball was there but the crowd was cheering.

"Here" Derek heard his teammate call out to him, and he quickly threw the ball to him. The crowd was still cheering very loudly.

Immediately he threw the ball, his team launched a counterattack immediately; the opponent team was still too stunned to react. The ball made its way through the field and Goal.

There was even more screams from the red shirts in the crowd. The score was one to nil. Coach Goth was shocked, he didn't understand what had just happened.

The ball was quickly brought to the center to continue play; the opposing team was quickly regaining their composure.

The first years hadn't been at the school for long, so it was a great feat to make the team. Lancer had made the team in just two days.

He had become their number one target man, Lancer was a beast with the ball in front of the goalie. Whenever he struck the ball, it moved so fast and with precise accuracy that the goalie barely had time to react.

His reputation as the goalie's nightmare had quickly earned him his spot on the team.

Though the defenders did a good job preventing him from getting past them, whenever he did, a goal was guaranteed and so far, no goalie had managed to stop him.

This was why Lancer quickly came back to his senses, he summed up whatever Derek just did now as luck and he was sure he was going to net his next shot.

From the post, Derek could see the entirety of the field, all the twenty-one players including the goalie at the other end who was adjusting his gloves like he was fed up with its existence.

The white team was in possession of the ball, Derek wondered if the coach had handpicked this white team on purpose because they passed the ball among themselves effortlessly.

It was like his teammates on the field were chasing shadows, the opponent team clearly outclassed theirs. But the good thing was that his team was doing a good job keeping the deadly front trio from his goalpost.

Just as soon as he had the thought did he see Lancer running towards him 'It was just a fluke, there was no way this useless peasant caught my shot' Lancer tried to convince himself.

This time, it was just Lancer and one of his teammate, but he didn't pass the ball. He dribbled solo, single handedly taking on the defender in his front.

The instant he saw an opening, he let the ball fly like a loose cannon. Derek saw the ball coming at him with fierce momentum but his resolve was steeled.

With a clean dive, he caught the ball safely if his palms and rolled to the floor. The crowd was mad with excitement, screams resounded from every corner of the field.

Lancer could not believe his eyes, the shot power that made him into a super star in just a few weeks of being in the school and Derek was ruining his reputation by making these saves.

Coach Goth couldn't understand what he was witnessing, Derek was a Rank F and he had the lowest stats, he was not meant to have such reaction and agility.

But that wasn't what bothered him; he had an unstoppable shooter and an impassable goalie. His team couldn't be any more perfect. "These first years must be talented" he smiled to himself.

In the stands, there was someone who was on edge witnessing this whole scenario. Arya stared straight at Derek.

When Derek fought Jerry and his crew, he could hardly dodge the blows or get a direct hit in, but he was displaying top class agility here on the field.

If he had these moves while fighting the bullies earlier, he could have easily beat them. This person was definitely hiding something and the thought made her slightly uneasy.

Derek from where he stood at the goalpost could feel a pair of eyes boring into him. Then he turned to the source and he could see Arya.

When their eyes met, she could feel the hairs on her body suddenly rise
