[55] Filming in Progress

Chapter 55: Filming in Progress

The worldbuilding of "Goblin Slayer" diverged significantly from this world, posing a major challenge for Durin during filming as he had to reconcile these disparities.

After shooting Goblin Slayer's flashback scene, Durin embarked on the daunting task of revisions. Many plot elements were adapted to better suit the current world's circumstances, particularly concerning religion and the Adventurer's Guild. Given the substantial gap between the original work and this world, Durin spent considerable time refining them to enhance the audience's experience.

Initially, Durin contemplated removing Goblin Slayer's flashback scene altogether. However, upon careful consideration, he opted to retain it to deepen Goblin Slayer's character. Ultimately, this decision proved beneficial for the viewing experience after filming.

As the film reached the first pivotal plot point from the original story, filming "Goblin Slayer" entered a challenging phase.

Observing the destruction of the painstakingly constructed Goblin nest by the main characters and the Troll, Durin couldn't help but express his helplessness, lamenting, "I had even considered starting a tourism business here in the future, but now it's all ruined..."

"Director Durin, did you say something just now?" Alyssa asked curiously.

Durin merely shook his head faintly and directed, "Regardless, the battle scene is nearly complete. It's time for the Troll to exit!"

Currently, they were filming the climax of the main characters' first mission, where they faced the formidable enemy, the Troll, in the underground space, engaging in a fierce battle.

According to the script, the Troll would meet its demise through Goblin Slayer's portal scroll. This unique scroll, unlike the typical adventurer's escape tool, functioned as a reverse teleportation device, summoning entities from the target location.

Goblin Slayer linked the scroll to the depths of the sea, where activating it would unleash the tremendous pressure, ejecting seawater with terrifying force. Even fully armored warships could be instantly destroyed.

This was Goblin Slayer's ace in the hole, though his original intent was to use the scroll to eradicate the Goblin nest.

Overall, while filming this scene presented challenges, primarily in props and scene arrangements, the generous funding from a wealthy Guild Master in the Northern region ensured a smooth production process. Her extravagant spending resembled that of a so-called domineering female CEO, facilitating the filming of "Goblin Slayer."

....

On the film set, the battle between the main characters and the Troll was vividly captured by the cameras set up by Durin. Due to the pursuit of authenticity, the Headless Knight and Wiz were not present on set. Therefore, the Troll was solely relying on its primal instincts, exerting its full force to try and tear apart the humans before it.

In contrast, among the main characters present, aside from Saiki being a fourth-tier Sword Soul, the others, except for Daphne, who was just filling in, were more or less high-ranking adventurers. Originally, dealing with such a Troll would have been a piece of cake for them. However, for the sake of filming, they had to suppress their strength and portray themselves as being overpowered, which was quite frustrating.

Finally, with the 'dying' Goblin Slayer pulling out a scroll from his waist, a dazzling blue light suddenly flickered in the underground space. In the next moment, the terrifying Troll in front of them was torn into eight pieces as if it were fish on a chopping board!

"What... what just happened?!"

In the face of the Troll's horrified gaze as it was being dismembered, Goblin Slayer simply replied calmly, "A teleportation scroll. Its other end is connected to the seabed. The moment the portal opens, the rushing seawater turns into unstoppable blades."

"What..."

Suddenly, even the teammates watching from the sidelines showed surprised expressions, exclaiming in awe, "A teleportation scroll can be used like this... I never knew a scroll meant for escaping could be used like this..."

"However, to prepare such a thing just to kill Goblins... this is truly something..."

...

"Pack it up! Pack it up! Well done, everyone! Adventurers, please help tidy up the place. Guild Master Alyssa said she'd treat us after we return!"

As Durin's voice fell, the adventurers, who were already excited, became even more enthusiastic, starting to tidy up while their mouths couldn't stop chattering.

"Did you see that? That was a real teleportation scroll! I never thought Director Durin was a true mage. And so young too, it's simply terrifying."

"Yeah, I've never seen a real mage in my life before. I always thought powerful mages just liked to stay in dark rooms doing research. I never expected Director Durin to be such a cheerful person."

"Did you guys know? Guild Master Alyssa is going to play the Sword Maiden in the movie later on. Aren't you looking forward to it?"

"Oh my god, is that true?! I'll definitely come that day! By the way, do you know where they filmed the Water Town in the plot? I feel like we don't have such a place in the Northern Region..."

The adventurers' conversations in the distance were completely unabashed, and Alyssa and Durin, who were also helping to clean up, naturally heard them.

Ignoring the Guild Master's helpless expression for now, Durin spoke up, "Didn't you tell them that the Water Town scene had already been filmed? No wonder there weren't many people around during that shoot. You deliberately kept the news under wraps..."

In response, Alyssa subtly turned her face away and said, "I had no choice. I didn't want those guys to see me like that. Otherwise, how would I continue to be the Guild Master?"

Indeed, even during the preparation for filming the Goblin nest scene, Durin had already taken Alyssa and the main cast to another town to shoot the Water Town scene. That town was originally intended for filming the second season of "Konosuba: God Blessings On This Wonderful World." However, upon realizing the need for a similar setting for the Water Town, Durin had to use it here first.

The end result was indeed very good. The filming of that scene went smoothly, and by the time the set here was still being prepared, the scene there had already been completed.

This means that now, "Goblin Slayer" only has the final showdown with the Goblin King left in the storyline.
