Ch. 155

"Before you master the Void, you must first need to understand it's components and everything about the Void." Aether said as Xyrus nodded without a problem.

He knew that in order to achieve great strength, there must be pain and sacrifices and most importantly, hard work and dedication.

"Let's start with the basics first. This is a Void." Aether opened his palm and a single ball entirely made of black appeared.

"Before you master it, you must first feel it but we've already done that in the black hole, so skipping that, you'll be studying the Void." Aether said and before Xyrus knew it, another few years has passed.

"So that's it. The Void is everywhere like space, except that no one can feel or see it except for beings like you." Xyrus's eyes were full of wisdom as he stared at the ball of void in his hand.

Thanks to Aether's effective teaching, he managed to comprehend atleast 1% of the Void.

"And now we're proceeding to the real menu." As soon as Aether said that, he suddenly conjured a spear made of Void and threw it towards Xyrus's abdomen.

It was too fast for Xyrus to react so the spear pierced his abdomen and although there's no blood as he's only a soul right now, but the pain is million times more painful than an average stabbing.

"W-what the fuck?" Xyrus confusedly asked as he felt his vision dimming until the dark consumes him.

"Soon, you'll know everything about the Void." Aether said for the last time before letting Xyrus fall into the darkness.

"That was harsh, you know?" Veneleva appeared behind him as he spoke to him.

"We don't have much time, it is the only way." Aether said as he stared at Xyrus's flickering soul form as if it was threatening to fade out, however the Void spear that was stabbed to him seemed to be pulsing as if it was the lifeline of Xyrus and the reason that he hasn't faded away yet.

"You're right. Sigh, I didn't expect this to happen sooner. I thought it would be a few million years or so but Kaley suddenly said that the Prime timeline of the multiverse shook and the Eschaton suddenly moved from millions of years to a thousand years." Veneleva sighed before continuing.

"Anyways, I'm going now. I hope he become what the others has failed to be. Goodbye, friend." Veneleva said with a sad tone before leaving.

"W-where am I?" Xyrus opened his eyes as he heard a childish male voice.

"Hello there. I see that Aether has chosen you as his next successor?" Xyrus tried to look for the source of the voice but found no one.

"Is it similar to the Heavenly System?" Xyrus muttered.

"Nope, quite far from my creator. You see, Aether is my host which is why he became the Primordial God of Space and the Void." The childish voice said as Xyrus nodded his head. During one of his trainings, he and Aether did had some small conversations and he remembered him mentioning about this.

"I remember being stabbed by Aether by a Void spear. What does that mean?" Xyrus asked.

"It means that he has chosen you as his successor but there would be a consequence to this." The Void said in a sad tone.

"What is it?" Xyrus was curious, not only for the consequence but also why the Void seemed sad.

"I cannot have two hosts as that would upset the balance set by my creator, so that means that the other would have to vanish and that's-." Void explained and his last sentence was finished by Xyrus who finally understood.

"Aether has to die."

"Not just die, but to vanish from existence." The Void said.

"Is there any other way to stop this?" During the years of constantly training with Aether, Xyrus has developed a closure with him and already treated him as his friend.

But hearing that he has to die for him, Xyrus can't accept this.

"There is no other way. I have to pass the inheritance to you now. I hope that you would use the blessings of the Void for good." The Void said and suddenly, Xyrus was surrounded by darkness.

***

"He's finally waking up." Aether, who was now sitting on the 'ground' seemed to have opened his eyes as he stared at Xyrus's soul that stopped flickering and the Void spear that he threw to his abdomen earlier was absorbed by him.

"It is finally time. It was good while it lasted." Aether said as earlier, his fellow Primordial Gods already came by and said their farewells. Although they are Gods, they still have emotions and they were sad to see him go.

*Zoom!*

Suddenly, Aether felt that he has lost control over the Void.

"Goodbye, old friend." He heard the voice of the Void making him smile.

"Goodbye." Aether muttered as he raised his arms just to see that they're slowly fading away.

It slowly climbed until it reached his upper body.

However, before he could go, Xyrus suddenly tackled him with a hug.

"Thank you."

"You are very welcome." Aether replied and soon, he was consumed by the light particles and disappeared from existence.

"He's finally gone, huh? It's sad to see him go soon." Veneleva appeared with a solemn and sad face as he faced the last spot where Aether was.

"He was a good friend." Veneleva muttered for the last time before removing the negative emotion on his face.

"It's time for your second training, as much as I like to mourn him, but we don't have much time. So this time, you'll face Kaley, the Primordial Goddess of Time. Be ready." Veneleva said before disappearing.

"Are you okay with this?" Xyrus asked, not to Veneleva but to the Heavenly System.

"It is something that must be done. The Eschaton was my fault, if I wasn't rash back then, then maybe none of this would have happened." THS said which made Xyrus make a conclusion that there must be a story behind all of this.
