Basing Out of Haelith

During dinner, I was introduced to the second son. Who is Lambert Hanse.

I was also asked where I would be staying, or if I would be leaving Haelith.

"Well, I think I'll stay in Haelith for a while at least. Seems like a fine city. Although I will moving on in the future.", I answer.

They were pleased with my answer and offered me help in getting a home. I told them what I would like, "I would like a home near the city, not inside. Actually, I would a small lot of land. I'll build a small home for myself on it. Preferably on the edge of the forest."

Eliza worried, "There are monsters in the forest though. Would you be alright there. Also, an elder of your age shouldn't be building houses. Think about your health."

At that, I start to laugh and Oswald joins in. Oswald comments, "Eliza dear, Oro here is what we call an old monster. He may look old, but he probably has more years in him than your father. He'll be fine on the edge of the forest. There isn't a single monster in that forest that can threaten me, therefore everything in there is nothing more but a fly to Oro."

I agree, "Yes, Oswald is right Young Lady. I will be more than fine there. Although this old man appreciates your worry. You have a kind heart. Also, Gabriel here is with me. Nothing can get past him, haha."

Gabriel looks up from his stack of steaks, "Arf!" Gabriel agrees.

Count Hanse approves, "Then it is completely possible to set you up on the forest edge right outside the city."

I smile, "Excellent, how much would it cost?"

Count Hanse replies, "Since you will be buying only the land. Considering the danger of the land. It won't be too much. Only about 250 karns. There is a law in this kingdom that exempts the elderly from tax, so no worry about taxes. For tonight though, I would invite you to stay as our guest. Tomorrow you can be shown the land lot."

"Then I thank you for your continued hospitality.", I say in thanks.

After a comfortable night in the Hanse mansion. I paid the karns for the land I wanted and Lambert was given the task of showing me to the area. As for how I paid?

I cheated a little bit and spent DE to make "counterfeit money". Although by all accounts, the money is 100% real in every way.

We arrived at the land via horses, as I can ride horses.

"Do you need anything else Mr. Oro?", Lambert asked me.

"No young Lambert. This will do, and that'll be all. You may return now as your task is complete. Thank you.", I answer.

Lambert than leaves me to my own devices.

I look at Gabriel, "Alright my four-legged friend, time to make our first home in this new world."

I don't want to be too extravagant....but what the hell. Let's make a 5 story white marble tower. I have saved up 12 hours worth of DE, which can buy me 54 cubic meters of white marble. Which should be enough to make a 5 story tower. I am not making it too wide either.

I buy the marble, and decide to use some fine magic control to build. I also karate chop the marble into the shapes I want just for fun. Magic is used to stack the marble bricks and stick them together. As for the design, think of a tower from an old fairytale book. It didn't take more than hour to make to make.

When we entered, there was no furniture...

I had forgot about that. Well, I have about 3600 DE now that it has been an hour. I can get about 120 pieces of nice wooden furniture with that much. I don't need that much furniture though.

I get what I need, turn the 4th floor room into a bedroom, and the 5th floor as a little workshop. 1st floor will be a small shopfront. floors 2 and 3 are lounges and a guest room.

Looking out from the 5th floor window, I could overlook the city. As the tower was already on elevated land.

Now I had to decide what to sell.

After looking through the store, I decided to pick up carpentry. I won't start from the trivial level though. I'll start at Divine, which will cost 20,000 DE. It'll take a little more than 5 and a half hours to gather enough DE to buy it.

I can wait that long, easy.

The windows on the 5th floor all have balconies out of them, meaning they are also doors. I open one up, the one with best view of the city. I then move my rocking chair, and Gabriel's doggy bed out to the balcony. We then sit down and relax; gazing upon the city. Something that would drive a young person crazy, but an old man like me can do this all day.

6 hours later, I have enough DE to buy Divine Carpentry. Now I go to the 4th floor workshop, which has no workstations. I use leftover DE to get some carpentry tools and workstations. Now I am ready to begin.

I then go outside the tower, and karate chop a tree down. Karate chopping things never gets old. It is comically fun, like I am in a movie.

I take a good sized log and bring it up to the 4th floor. Now what should I make?

After thinking for a moment, I decide to make a door. As a divine carpenter, I can make a special door. Then an Idea hits me, and I make 5 doors for myself, and an extra pair to sell. I make most of them before the moon is high in the night sky. Then I decide to go to sleep, and spend my second night in this world.

However, I do want go back to Oroum in the morning and make a few changes.

When Gabriel and I awake the next day, we go back to Oroum for a short while.

I wanted to make some modifications to our home here. I added some more space to the peak of this mountain we are on. I add courtyards and spaces for future workshops. I did bring some branches from the tree I chopped down too. I went down the mountain and planted them. They will grow into trees, and then they'll naturally multiply with time.

I have the idea to collect as many different plants as I can, and populate my dimension with them. As well as animals. Which I will do over time.

We then leave Oroum and I get back to making my doors. After Gabriel and I get some breakfast. Afterwards, I finish the extra set of doors I plan to sell. As for what these doors do? Well, going in one door will have you go out the other door. They are portal doors!

I put the pair of doors on the first floor. Then I hang up a humble store sign in front of the door. I named my store floor, "Old Tale Oddities".

As for who would come to this sort of store? The odd ones would. Which are the ones I am trying to attract.

I then think about what I should learn next.

I think aloud, "I think I'll go with blacksmithing next. Yes, I think that would do. It would add more variety. I'll be able to make stuff with wood and metal involved in its construction too." Divine Blacksmithing will cost 22,000 DE, so I'll be waiting the whole day practically. So I take a seat behind the store counter on a comfortable chair.

Surprisingly, the first customer was not someone I knew. I had expected Eliza to arrive at my tower first, as she was that sort of eccentric character. Instead, a robed woman with a staff walked in. She was not young, but certainly not old either. Quite pretty too.

Her green eyes looked at the only item in the store, the two doors. She asks me, "Sir, these doors seem special to me, but I can't put my finger on it. What do they do?"

I explain what the doors are, "If you go in one door, you will come out the other."

The woman is greatly shocked by my answer. She gains a skeptical look, "Can I test it?"

I smile, "Sure you can young lady." She raises an eyebrow, "I don't think I'm young enough to be called a young lady."

I laugh, "Oh, for this old man, even an old woman may be a young lady, hehe. Go ahead and try."

She scoffs and tries one of the doors. She goes through and comes out the other. She stands there a little shocked at what happened. She tried it again, and got excited.

She then turns to me eagerly, "Sir, how much are the doors?"

"The name is Oro, you can drop the Sir. As for the cost? They cost as much as you think they are worth. I'll accept whatever you decide to pay.", I tell her.

She squinches brows in though. She then brings out a crystal from her robe. She puts it on the table, "Here, this is a 100% prime grade white mana crystal."

I take the crystal, "I accept your payment. Now, who is the lady I am selling to today?"

She answers, "I am the Archmage Faloria from the College of Grandell."

I give her a nice smile, "Well then Ms. Faloria, the doors are yours."

She nods and then goes to the doors. She opens her purse and the doors are sucked in. She gives a small bow in my direction, "Thank you Sir Oro, have a nice day." Then she leaves my tower.

"What an interesting person. Am I right Gabriel?", I say while giving the sitting Gabriel a small head rub. He nods his head up and down in agreement.

I then sigh, "Well, guess I need something else to sell now."
