A fire truck came to the southern squatter camp, but unfortunately, they didn't have any water in their tank. Mickey just scoffed at this brazen behavior. It was the same as in his previous world.
It wasn't that the firefighters didn't have any water; they just didn't want to save a bunch of poor people. If it were a rich person's house, even if it were a dog burning there, they would do anything they could to save it.
Just like Earth's hidden law: disdain the poor, favor the rich. Yes, they might spend days preaching about equality, but most people were after benefits.
If you start welfare supporting the poor, won't you get enough money to build a mansion and live a good life. Worse, if you steal all that donation money, the police won't even catch you, even if you live next door.
In this world, what matters is strength. What if you kill a thousand people to obtain strength? Don't humans also kill bees for honey?
"The people who talk about civilizations…" Mickey kept his words to himself and jumped off the tree with a plain expression.
His next destination was already in mind, and it was a place on the northern side of Acoustic City. He took the subway. It was a fast ride, despite it going in a roundabout way, since the city is 188 square kilometers, with one-third of it being occupied by Profound Beasts.
"Acoustic Grand Treasure: Insurance Policy," Mickey muttered as he looked at one of the tallest buildings in Acoustic City. It was made out of slick glass material and was shaped into the letters 'AGT.'
Mickey walked towards the entrance, maintaining his indifferent look. 'AGT, if my memory is correct, that organization has more secrets than what meets the eye. If I want to make it here, I need to work with them, but I need to be vigilant. I shouldn't get my identity figured out by them.'
Before he could reach the end of the paved path, the red-eyed boy noticed a familiar face and took a bronze token with 'GU' written on it from his pocket. "Uncle T."
The guard at the entrance was startled and dropped his phone to the ground, and Mickey immediately showed a teasing grin. "Someone is watching porn? Interesting. I have some with me here."
Uncle T's face turned red from embarrassment, and he picked up his phone from the pavement. "Cough, if you don't mind, lend your Great Uncle T some of the latest ones."
"I used to have Mia and Angela with me." Mickey's grin faded as he walked into the yard. "Too bad they are on my old phone. Hope no one will open that vault application."
"Tsk, you could have come in the morning, kid." Uncle T looked at the fading boy with disdain. "Make it quick. This place is about to close soon!"
Mickey just nodded his head and headed towards the letter 'A,' which was for mortals to leave their inheritances. He obviously knew about Uncle T's lie, but spending more time here wasn't part of his plan.
Once he entered, Mickey was covered by a shimmering ocean blue light that seemed to connect to space itself. Only Mickey knew that this formation was something the people of Acoustic City couldn't make by themselves.
The pressure around was a little suffocating, and the city Elders wouldn't be able to stay for a long time without being teleported to their intended position.
Yet, here Gu Mickey, a person who had just turned into a Book Lord, was doing just fine.
This entrance was known by all to damage one's mind during the first five minutes. Mickey's mind was tough as a stone, yet flexible like rubber.
He was waiting patiently for the sixth minute. Starting from then, it would refine a person's mind, and as a testament to this, the moment the sixth minute arrived, Mickey felt light-headed.
It felt like thorns were being removed from his mind as medicine was applied on the side. It was a feeling of finding water when you are about to die from thirst in a desert.
Mickey wanted to embrace this feeling for more minutes to come, but despite his need to make an iron-willed mind, he had to stop.
Staying any longer would only raise suspicion towards himself. A master thief knows the house and time to steal.
At the eight-minute mark, Mickey raised the 'GU' bronze token. The second after, he was immediately teleported inside a room lit with brass light, with an area of 10 square meters, filled with over a thousand compartments.
This was just like all the rooms in the A building. Book Lords acquired G, and elders and special individuals took T.
Mickey treated this system with disdain. He knew that getting to the T building was close to suicide.
His red eyes looked at all the empty compartments that were open. Only one was not open, and the young man couldn't help but smile at the corner of his lips.
"I really spent money like an idiot, forgetting about tomorrow."
"Come to me," he declared with his thought alone, and the compartment wide opened with a loud gust of wind.
The item inside floated up into the air before landing perfectly on Mickey's left palm, making him mutter, "A rifle, huh? There are no changes at all."
The outer shape was no different from that of a bolt-action rifle from Earth. The whole body was made of black metal, making it heavy. There was a scalpel attached to the barrel, making it perfect for both long and close-range attacks.
The difference it had from the rifles on Earth was that it used spirit crystals as magazines or 1,000 spirit coins per each bullet.
'In the novel I used this rank 1 weapon till his death. It's heavier than pistols on Earth, but I can make do with it. I bought this gun when I was only ten. The reason…'
For a second, Mickey's eyes flashed with greed, but it quickly washed away. There were many better weapons in this world, and to top it off, he doesn't know the advancement method for this weapon.
Mickey felt a little bit discouraged about the fact that he couldn't test the rifle at the moment. He could only sigh and close his eyes.
He placed the rifle on his chest, and the newly made aperture started shaking until one orb lost its color. The rifle was instantly moved to his Primeval World. It landed in the night region.
Reverence flashed all over Mickey's face, but he didn't let his joy get to him. After all, this was the start of money.
Complete…
"Now, I only need a grimoire to call myself a real spirit realm book lord. Although a jindan can only form a single grimoire, I highly doubt it since I didn't use the Life Water at Doves Academy to form my jindan." Mickey showed a pained smile at his dilemma.
"Get me out," Mickey said, and the 'GU' token shattered to pieces. He would need to register again to gain another chance to strengthen his mind.
With a poof, Mickey was sent to the entrance where he met the guard earlier. He didn't bother talking to Uncle T, who seemed to be in a trance with his cell phone.
'I wonder if that girl is dead yet.' The image of a silver-haired young lady whom he took advantage of earlier today popped up in his mind.
