As soon as they stepped out of the room, a certain someone was waiting by the corridor, her hands folded over her chest and an annoying look stuck on her face. Lucifer visibly gulped as he knew what was coming next. He slipped to cover Lilah and a bag landed on his face as he expected. Perfect aim for a reason.
"Can you fucking just stop being a shithead?" She asked.
"Stop doing that always, I have a lady with me." He complained, rubbing his cheeks which got hit by the bag strap.
"I see that. There are always ladies around you, so what is new?"
"Selene, geeez! Stop shouting."
"Or else? What will you do? Fight me back? Then let's start." She challenged him, standing in a position, ready to throw a punch.
"How can I possibly fight you? Now what is the problem?"
"I think, I should leave you both be," Lilah spoke as she moved to the side, controlling her laughter.
"Good decision, please do so." Selene scoffed to which the girl rolled her eyes. Too much attitude in every single human being.
"No wait, I was about to take you upstairs." He protested.
"Lucifer! I am not here to see you fuck around and waste my time. I am done babysitting your headache so I let her go." Selene spoke earning a gasp from him.
"You did that? Like you did break my order?"
"I had to, ok? I am not here for those silly pieces of stuff and yes, I have to go back for a while so handle your mess."
"Going back?" He asked seriously moving closer to the girl. He definitely wasn't expecting her to leave him ever.
"Yes, I am not interested in holding your ass all along. I deserve more than that." She spoke before rushing downstairs.
"Selene, damnit!" He cursed, clenching his fist.
"Oops, any problem that needs help?" Lilah asked as she couldn't contain the excitement. He literally just lost to her.
"That was my problem and she just left on her own." He grinned at her.
"That is rude? You seemed kind of disturbed at her words though."
"She is one of my staff and she is just returning home so it is fine. Maybe I should hire someone to stay with me here." He spoke as he led her to the elevator.
"Oh? It sounds so simple coming from you. Who even would want to work with someone like you?"
"Anyone would, pretty. I am all that people want." He was so proud of his words but more than that, his confidence spoke.
The elevator stopped on the twelfth floor and he got out, moving to the side for her. He really got some manners even though he is so full of himself. Lilah followed his steps to the big door which was ahead of them, at the end of the corridor. He pressed his index finger on the certain mark of the door frame and it opened wide enough, giving a clear view of the room. He once again moved aside for her.
"After you, my lady." He smiled warmly and she obeyed without any fuss.
"You surely are rich." She nodded to herself while looking around.
"I hope so. My father is pretty rich you know? Then that man threw me out of home for being a rebel." He confessed to which she choked again.
"Still sticking with the story of the devil?" She asked trying to play it cool.
"My own story, Madam. You have to believe me sooner or later anyways."
Lilah sat down on the couch, her eyes wandering all around the room which had a monochrome theme. It looked neat and not messy, something expected from a man like him. He looked too composed, frankly speaking, and she can't help but agree to it. Lilah was watching how he arranged the chairs in the room, which were facing each other. That is a very rare sight because how does someone sit if two chairs are facing each other with no inch in between?
"It's easy for me to relax, can keep my legs straight." He answered noticing her confused glare.
"Ohh." She understandingly nodded.
"Want to do something? I mean we have time till my babe arrives."
"Hmm, what do you normally do with girls in your room when your 'babe' is not around?" She asked back making him gasp dramatically.
"Wow! That is a good question but I assume you are the only girl apart from my 'babe' who was invited to this room."
"What? Really?' She was totally surprised at that. Was she special or is he being kind because of what happened down on the dance floor?
"Unfortunately yes."
Lilah smiled a little at that. It was comforting to have such small conversations with him, no prejudices and she loved it. Back in heaven, people used to be very conscious around her and she could never make proper friends. Gabriel was always there but at times, even he acts like one of her followers. Uncle and aunt made it hard for her to engage with the common angels. This man seemed to be fun, he is talking about what he really felt yet not offending her in anyways. He was not curious about her, he didn't ask her anything which was kind of helping her situation.
"So, you stay here alone?' She asked and he nodded.
"Whenever I come here, Naomi stays until her work calls."
"You are sulking about that?' She asked noting his lips curve down.
"Hey, no!!! I don't sulk." He spat back, clearly offended.
"You did sulk now. My eyes are big for a reason." She protested.
"Well, maybe." He playfully smirked at her.
"I can say that you don't like being alone by this. then why don't you go back home? Maybe talk about it with your father?" She kept asking.
"He is not interested and after all that happened, I feel that is not where I belong."
