Unwelcoming Return (3)

He raised his hand and pointed at me.

"Void Beam!"

A blast of darkness shot towards me, and I had no time to dodge it.

I tried to shield myself, but it was no use.

The blast hit me square in the chest, and I felt a sharp pain.

I coughed up blood, and collapsed.

I felt my consciousness slipping, and the last thing I heard was The Voidwalker's laughter.

"Foolish child. You thought you could beat me. Now, die."

"You bastard... YOU WON'T GET AWAY WITH THIS!" I screamed.

"Goodbye for now, Leo." The Voidwalker chuckled.

He opened up a portal beneath me and it sent me back to the surface right in front of the school, I didn't have the strength to move, his Void Beam was almost too much for me to handle.

"LEO!" A figure in the distance said, I could barely make out what they looked like but it seemed to be the head nurse, Scarlett.

She was an older lady, in her 40s and was one of the kindest women in the whole school. She had auburn hair, a petite figure, and bright blue eyes.

"Leo, what happened, where's Sora, is he okay, oh no..." Scarlett rambled.

"Sora... he's... in danger... The Voidwalker... he took him." I groaned.

Scarlett's eyes widened.

"Oh no, that's horrible. We need to go tell the Headmaster."

I shook my head.

"No, he won't help, he won't listen, he thinks Sora's dangerous, he's in danger."

"Well, we have to do something. Sora's our friend. We can't just leave him in danger."

"There's nothing we can do, Scarlett. It's too late. He's gone. I failed."

"No, Leo. It's not too late. There's still time. We can still save him. We can still beat the Voidwalker."

"I can't do it, Scarlett. I'm not strong enough. I'm not the hero Sora needs. I'm not the hero the world needs. I'm not the hero anyone needs. I'm a failure."

"You're wrong, Leo. You're not a failure. You're a hero. And heroes don't give up. Heroes don't quit. Heroes keep fighting, no matter what the odds. That's what makes them heroes. That's what makes you a hero."

"EVEN IF I AM, I FAILED TO SAVE MY BEST FRIEND! How would I call myself a hero if my best friend was taken by TWO different people in one day?" I asked, trying to hold back my tears.

"We all fail, Leo. That's why we need to keep trying. That's why we need to be the best versions of ourselves. We can't let failure stop us from being heroes."

"Whatever, just heal me Scarlett so I can go back. Did you even know there was a secret base under the school?"

"No, but I guess the Headmaster never told anyone about it."

"Of course not, why would he? He probably thought no one would ever find it."

"Leo, Sora isn't dangerous, Sora wouldn't do anything to hurt anyone."

"Scarlett, Sora has the powers of a dark god, a dark deity, The Voidwalker is trying to take him back and I don't know what for, but Sora has to stay here, he has to stay safe."

"We can't keep him here against his will, Leo. That's wrong."

"Scarlett, we can, because we want to. Don't we want the best for him? Don't we want him to be happy?"

"Yes, but that doesn't mean we get to lock him up like a criminal."

"Scarlett, just patch me up and shut up for once." I said, angrily.

"Leo, watch your language."

Scarlett focused her energy and began to heal me.

After Scarlett healed me I made my way back to the depths below the school, the mysteries surrounding this place make it seem like Headmaster Williams is trying to hide something, I wonder what he needs this type of thing for.

-------------------------------------------Sora's Perspective-----------------------------------------------

"Voidwalker, just tell me what you want from me. I don't care about what's inside me, you can take it for all I care." I said, all I wanted to do was get out of this place in one piece.

"Hmm, your body may not feel it Sora, but the rest of the world will once it awakens, the Oblivion Crystal inside you is so much power, power the world can't handle right now." The Voidwalker explained.

"What? I'm confused, what do you mean? I don't understand any of this!" I asked.

The Voidwalker laughed, it was an eerie laugh, the kind of laugh that sends chills down your spine.

"My boy, you are something special, you just don't know it yet."

"No... no, no no no, I'm just me... Sora Katayama, that's it."

"Don't lie to me, Sora, your body houses my key, you are truly the only one capable of wielding it, with it I shall lead an army to crush those who oppose us."

"Stop speaking in riddles, what does the key have to do with this?"

"The Oblivion Crystal is one of the 2 items that I need to achieve divinity. You are the first step in my plan to achieve heaven." The Voidwalker explained.

My hands were shaking and my palms were sweaty, why did I have this inside of me? WHO PUT THIS SHIT INSIDE MY BODY? Everything that has happened is because of this Oblivion Crystal, I understand it now.

"How long have I had this inside me?" I asked.

"Hmm... most likely since birth, I'm not sure how you could've gotten it as it is a divine item, it is the purest form of Oblivion Magic. Everyone that awakens it through hate has impure Oblivion Magic. For instance, I am one of the few individuals in the universe who uses impure Oblivion Magic. Even though it is impure, the requirements to awaken it are quite demanding." He explained.

"So... what does that mean, that I'm the purest form of Oblivion Magic existent?"

"On this planet, maybe... perhaps, however there are other planets, many other planets that could have it, but let's be real here Sora, out of all the planets in the universe, one small child had to manifest what millions of others couldn't. Granted, I sensed that something was off about you when you were a child, but I assumed it would not manifest until you were old enough to comprehend the world. Obviously, things changed, and I've been waiting."

"What do you mean, you were waiting? I'm only 13 years old, and if I have only awakened my powers just recently, then how could you say that you were waiting, if I had this all along it would've manifested, right?"

"You fail to understand, you still haven't manifested your power. You still don't have enough hate to use Oblivion Magic, you are still the pure child you always were when you were younger. If I was to kill Leo, how would you react? After all I killed his sister and his father so what's one more to the list?" He laughed.

I clenched my fist, and looked at the man standing in front of me, this 'voidwalker' he was a psychopath and I wouldn't put it past him to try and kill everyone I cared about.

The Voidwalker disappeared and reappeared in front of me, as if he wasn't there just a second ago, he raised his hand and grabbed me by the throat and lifted me into the air.

"Pathetic, you're all pathetic, but you Sora, you're nothing but an animal. I'm going to kill you and take the Crystal, but first I'm going to have some fun." He laughed.

"WHAT? THAT'S WHAT YOU WANT? WHY HAVEN'T YOU JUST KILLED ME YET AND TAKEN IT FROM ME?"

"Because I need you to awaken, stupid child."

My vision started to become hazy, and my head was pounding, my blood was running cold, it felt like my very soul was going to disappear, and my heart rate was accelerating faster than the speed of light. This is the true power of this man before me, I felt it in my blood, I felt it in my bones, I felt it deep inside my soul, it felt like I was being swallowed by a massive being's aura, how could anyone stay standing in the face of such overwhelming force? The answer: They couldn't.

"LET HIM GO!" A voice from the side of the hallway said.
