Determine Inception

Jolting awake, sweating, breathless with adrenaline coursing through my veins from yet another nightmare. I look around making sure I'm still in the small apartment room that I've been in for the past two weeks. Quickly I read the clock that claims it's 3:30 after realizing I'm still in my small room . Groaning I get up from bed knowing I have 30 minutes before I have to start getting ready for the new school I will be attending.

Three weeks ago me and my friends back home where planing our freshman year together when my mom came home and informed me that we were moving 8 hours away and that I had been excepted into the Intuitive School for the Gifted (Isg) If only I was truly gifted I think quietly to myself before grabbing my towel and heading the the bathroom in order to shower.

After my shower, I sit quietly on the edge of my bed trying to remember what this new dream was about. It's the 14th nightmare I've had in the past two weeks. One every night I think as I try to recall what each dream was about to see if there is any connection. Trying to think, I come up empty hand with any connection or reason behind the horrid nightmares that have caused me to lose an incredible amount of sleep that is much needed.

My alarm goes off taking me away from my deep thoughts. After turning off the inconvenient alarm, I walk towards my vanity in order to do my hair and makeup. First I blow dry and straighten my long, wavy strawberry blonde hair before putting it into a neat, clean professional bun. My makeup is simple today. A little mascara, eyeliner, a light natural colored eyeshadow, with a bit of lip gloss to tie it all together.

After glancing at the time, I rush over to my closet and pick out a short black skirt and a tight white shirt from my school uniforms that had been sent to me after confirming my acceptance. Shortly after changing I grab my small black stilettos and my backpack, on the way to the kitchen to make some breakfast.

If it were a month ago dad would be sitting at the counter drinking his morning coffee like he did everyday and I would talk to him as I make our breakfast, but sadly that won't be happening today. We haven't really talked much after him and my mom got a divorce last month, a week before I found out mom, my two younger brothers, Aziel (who is 4 years old) and Cree (who is 5 years old) and I were moving here, to a small town in the middle of nowhere. It's literally 3 hours from the nearest city or town.

As I make breakfast for mom, Aziel, Cree, and myself, I hear Cree creep into the kitchen and pull out a chair. As I look at his deep blue that are partially covered by his platinum blonde hair he asks "Sissy what time is it?". Glaring towards the clock I reply "It's 4:15 bubba, will you go wake Aziel up while I make y'all's plates please and thank you". "Yes ma'am." he reply's quietly as he leaves the small apartment kitchen to go wake his younger brother.

Placing the eggs into tortillas and adding bacon, I set the breakfast tacos on to plates. Cree rushes out of the boys room and slowly trailing behind him is Aziel, his medium blue eyes are also covered by his blonde hair. We eat and talk about getting them both hair cuts, but we all hold our tongues when mom sleepily exits her room and slips into the chair across from me. She mumbles a quick thank you to me before swiftly eating her taco and retreating back into the room she has almost never left since we arrived here. When the boys and I are done cleaning up the mess from breakfast, I send them to get ready and dress nicely for their first day.

We go outside and I take a couple of photos of the boys to send to dad, who had asked yesterday for them. Soon Aziel's pre-k bus picks him up and Cree gets on his kindergarten bus, I wait for about 30 minutes before mom comes down and drives me to school. It's only a 2 hour drive I think as I sit silently in the car. "I'm sorry that I haven't been acting very motherly for the past two weeks. This is all just hard for me, and for y'all. I'm very grateful that you have been here and helped me out, so thank you and I'm sorry." Mom says after a coupe of very awkward minutes. "You are fine and you're welcome." I reply in an instant. We sit in that dead awkward silence until we arrive to my new school. As I get out of the car, I say quick goodbye before heading to one of the two building that says Office on the front.

After filling out a couple of sheets that were handed to me by the counselor, the counselor takes me into a small room where she takes my photo for my new student id. The counselor quickly hands me my new id and says a brief welcome before turning and leaving me alone in the office. A few minutes late the principle, Mrs. Rebecca, welcomes me and asks me to follow her. So, I follow her through a long hallway all the way to the end where we enter her office. Once in her office she hands me a schedule, that has a small map located at the bottom to show me where the classes are located, and a small book which she says explains the school, how the school works and the rules that must be followed.
