Chapter 6 : Protected By You (2)

I was laying down on the infirmary bed, staring at the ceiling as i thought about what Zeke said earlier. It was my first time hearing him say those kind of things but does he really mean it though...i hope he does~

I blushed more, thinking about what he did earlier, it surprised me. Then the door opened revealing Millie and Matteo who had worried faces on.

"Did Jake do anything bad to you?!" Millie rushed to me asking, I shook my head in response.

"I'm fine, Zeke was there for me..." I smiled at them, I guess Zeke told them about it and me knowing that Millie often tends to worry a lot about me, she would go nuts if she knew that I was injured.

"then that's good..."

"you guys can go back to class, class is about to start any time soon now, you guys don't want to be Late hmmm?" I pointed out as I looked clock on the wall. Lunch was nearly over yet they still came to visit me, how sweet~

"Are you sure your okay by yourself?" Matteo exclaimed, checking up on me. I nodded, I was fine and there wasn't anything serious to worry about.

"yea, now get going to class you two." I signalled for Matteo and Millie to get back to class. They exchanged looks before they both left the infirmary room.

I sighed and smiled. I feel like maybe theres progress between me and Zeke, I suddenly felt motivated to do my best to get Zeke to like me and be comfortable around me.

It's always has been me that makes the effort to get close to him while he just ignored me or gives me the cold stares. I was the one who was in love with him while he was the one who dislikes me.

I never once saw him smile around me at all and i hope to see him smile around me more often, if I could even if it'll take weeks, months, years. I'm willing wait...I'll still love him.

I squealed, covering my shy looking face with the blanket. I still didn't expect Zeke to do things like that, even...I touched my neck and smiled.

"You seem over the moon and did something happen that your in the infirmary?" I looked at where the voice came from, it was the schools nurse, Macy.

"ah, I'm sorry to interrupt but I'm just resting for a while and I'll be going." I awkwardly apologised. Nurse Macy took a seat at her work place and smiled sweetly at me.

"it's fine, if you don't feel well you can just rest here. It's my job to take care of sick students." Nurse Macy explained, making me smile.

"So if you don't mind, wanna tell me why are you looking so happy just now~?" Nurse Macy looked at me and I flushed, covering my face with the blanket again.

"well...my soulmate just protected me, he said words that I've never heard him say before...I know it isn't much but I'm just happy." I shyly looked at the nurse and she chuckled at me, i must be looking silly right now.

"ahhh, young love. Your soulmate must like you a lot doesn't he?" my face gloomed, hearing that.

"hmm? What wrong? Don't tell me he doesn't love you?"

"Yea it seems like it...he never once smiled at me, he just gives me the cold stares and sometimes even ignoring me..." I gloomily explained to the Nurse. I heard Nurse Macy chuckle and looked at me.

"you know something? My soulmate was just like yours, he didn't love me it took time before he fully accepted me. Look at me now, we are married happily."

"Your soulmate didn't love you before?" I pulled the blanket down, looking at Nurse Macy as she nodded her head.

"But how did he end up liking you Nurse Macy?" I curiously asked, i thought maybe it could help me a little, hoping that it doesn't invade her privacy.

"well it took time, i did things for him to get to like me, he hated it at first and tried to push me away but as time pass he slowly got to open up to me. There were ups and downs but it worked out eventually. if you try and put effort in it, im sure it will work out for you too dear."

I listened attentively, trying to understand Nurse Macy, it sounded the same as my story with Zeke.

"people need time for their hearts to fully open up, im sure he will come to like you~ try to understand him from his point of view hmm?" I nodded slowly, from his point of view huh...

"okay! thank you Nurse Macy for letting me stay in here and rest, I'm feeling much better now so i'll get going to my last lesson now!" I got out of the bed, adjusting my clothes before waving to the nurse and left.

"ah...young love~ hahah it reminds me of the old young days~."

I went back into class for my last lesson for the day. I apologized to the teacher and explained why I was at the infirmary before the teacher allowed me to return back to my seat.

"hey Zeke~" I smiled, looking at him but he did not spare a glance at me as he looked at his notebook

"what is it."

"thank you for earlier again." I grinned, Zeke stopped writing and glared at her suddenly.

"it doesn't mean anything weirdo neither does it mean that i like you or anything." He coldly said, making my heart ache but i put on a smile and smiled.

"i know~"

"tsk, weirdo." deep down, my heart was aching when I heard that but I remained positive and tried my best to understand him. I stared back at the front of the class and focused on lesson, trying not to let myself get distracted by it.

♡ after school ♡

" i will bring some snacks later to your house."

"suit yourself." Zeke took his bag and left the class just like that as always, I sighed.

"is he always like that with you?" I jumped at the sudden voice. I turned around and it was Matteo, he was still in class and saw what had just happen.

"it's fine, he maybe is in a bad mood today."

"maybe he just needs time to open up i guess, i bet one day he will come to like you. your such a nice person." Matteo complimented me for who I am while ruffling my hair. Which made me wonder something...

"have you met your soulmate yet?" I asked, looking at him who now looked nervous. He looked away, avoiding eye contact with me.

"i havent yet..."

"hey its okay, you will meet your soulmate one day and she'll be amazing!" I patted Matteo on the shoulders to comfort him. There were some people who still have yet to meet their soulmate so it's normal.

"let's go meet up with Millie." I smiled, picking up my bag. I grabbed Matteo's wrist, dragging him along with me out the class.
