Desperate To Live

*Maybe my soulmate died. Idk. Or maybe I don’t have a soul* - Iamnotshane. Jayden lives by only two rules. Rule 1: Never fall in love. Rule 2: Always remember rule one. He has always followed this principle after learning that he has stage four cancer and has only a few months to live. Jayden chose not to hurt any women as long as they did not fall in love with him because he was a cold handsome playboy who carries a deadly aura, but adored by all. His gray eyes were ravishing, and he had exquisite flawless skin. He was adored by everyone until he met a girl named Freda. Freda was a twenty-nine-year-old autistic patient, and Jayden was twenty-seven years old cancer patient. On their first encounter, Jayden, who enjoys being around women, sees Freda as a red flag due to her disability and her choice of clothing. He had sworn to himself that he would never run into Freda again, but fate couldn’t be more cooperative as they continued to bump into each other. Due to an unexpected situation, Freda has no other option but to start working in Jayden’s mansion. Freda pledged that she would fix the playboy’s heart so that he would fall in love with someone because she sees no reason why he avoids being in a relationship, but little did she know that she would fall for him instead. “But what if she discovers she is in love with a cancer patient? Will she suppress her emotions or work to make Jayden’s life as happy as possible before he dies?” “Will love save the day when death calls?” This book evokes a wide range of emotions.

You ain't my maid!

Jayden suddenly remembered.

He began recalling everything he told Freda the night before, including all of his corny words.

"I believe you recall everything that happened." Freda said as she got out of bed.

She approached him and stood in front of him. "I have the right to pursue charges against you because what you did last night was rude." Her voice was soothing, but her remarks were not to be taken lightly.

Jayden sighed and rolled his eyes. "Go ahead and say I kissed you on the cheek. You should be grateful that I kissed you." He spat in disdain and turned around, preparing to leave the room.

Jayden would have to undertake a thorough cleaning of his room because he believes Freda has polluted it with her presence.

'How in the world did I find her attractive while drunk?' He questioned himself but was unable to respond.

He was angry at himself, but yet relieved that he hadn't done anything dirt to Freda.

Jayden can't imagine what he would have done to himself if he'd had sex with Freda last night.

She was never his class and will never be!

Before he could get out to his room's door, Freda called out his name, causing him to come to a halt.

He whirled back to glare at her, his face flushed with wrath. "What do you want from me?" As he glanced at her, he asked, little angry.

Freda breathed and moved her googles closer to her eyes. "I'm not going to tell anyone about what happened last night."

He smirked, and he was furious. "How come you make it sound like we're having an affair? Kissing a lady on the cheek is deemed appropriate, so why are you staring at me as if I've done something terrible?" Jayden yipped.

Freda could tell he was furious since his gaze was bloodshot, but she couldn't figure out why.

Freda breathed out!

She dashed to the bedside table and grabbed her puzzle box, knowing she needed to remain calm and behave carefully.

Jayden shook his head sideways as he noticed her assembling her puzzle while ignoring the question he had asked her.

"It appears that you can't live without that piece of trash, and yet you have the… gush talking to someone like you disgusts me."

Jayden felt dissatisfied with himself since he was attempting to converse with a woman who couldn't think straight.

Freda's gaze was still fixed on the puzzle box when Jayden stepped out of his room.

She didn't raise her head until she was finished with the task of arranging her puzzle.

Jayden was no longer present in the room.

She bit her lower lip as she collected her backpack and walked downstairs.

Freda had no intention of using Jayden's bathroom, and the only reason she utilized his bedroom was because it was the only room with an open door the night before.

Last night, when she had moved away from Jayden's presence, the young man awoke unexpectedly.

She had no idea why he woke up, but to her surprise, Jayden made his way to the entrance door and pulled out his key before locking it.

"Little lamb. I've fallen in love with you, so you'll have to spend the rest of your life with me." Jayden said to her, amusement on his face, and he moved ahead.

Freda attempted to take the keys from him, but she was unable to do so since Jayden slid the key down his pants.

He chuckled at his devious handiwork and then returned to the couch, where he blanked out.

She was locked up inside the mansion with him, so she went upstairs, and out of all the doors she came across, Jayden's room was the only one that wasn't locked.

She returned downstairs with a blanket to protect Jayden from catching a cold.

Freda returned to Jayden's room and had to listen to a lot of music on her phone before falling asleep.

Currently. As she made her way downstairs, she discovered Jayden was already seated in the dining room chair, a cigarette was in his mouth.

His hair, which was once all over his face, was now in a downward man bun.

Freda closed the gap between them as she focused her sight on her puzzle box.

"How come you're still here?"

"I believe you are upset, sir, and I apologize for that, but I did nothing wrong for you to be upset about. You said bizarre things to me and pinned me to the wall and even the couch. Pinning a lady to a wall means you are deeply longing for them, so if I'm being honest, I'm the one who should be offended, because you kissed me without my consent."

As his shoulder sank, Jayden signed. He pulled the cigarettes from his mouth, and because he had never ignited it, he decided to return them to their proper spot, which was where the other bundle of cigarettes were kept.

"For crying out loud, I kissed your cheek only and I have no intention of doing so at all." He spat, getting up from his chair and walking over to the sitting room couch, where there was already a blanket on.

Freda trailed behind him. "It's still classified as a sexual assault." She responded.

Her wide round eyes beneath her goggles make her appear serious, yet her unkempt hair makes her appear hilarious.

Jayden let out a frustrated exhale. "So, what do you expect from me, little la…?"

He was unable to finish his statement because he suddenly remembered that he was calling her the same name he used the night before.

He cursed himself.

"Secretary or whatever you choose to call yourself. I'd love it if you could tell me what you expect from me."

Freda smiled as she fixed her focus on him. "I'd like you to treat me like a nice maid."

He nodded and smiled. "Sure, why not? I'm going to treat you like a good…"

He paused for a while to consider what Freda had just said. "Di… did you just say a maid?" He inquired, his brow furrowed in question.

She gives a nod.

He scowled. "You're not my maid!" He yelled, as if trying to convince himself about the evident fact.

"You… you can't possibly be." He stumbled.

Freda exhaled. 'Guessed the memory of the contract blanked out in his head.' She pondered.
