Desperate To Live

*Maybe my soulmate died. Idk. Or maybe I don’t have a soul* - Iamnotshane. Jayden lives by only two rules. Rule 1: Never fall in love. Rule 2: Always remember rule one. He has always followed this principle after learning that he has stage four cancer and has only a few months to live. Jayden chose not to hurt any women as long as they did not fall in love with him because he was a cold handsome playboy who carries a deadly aura, but adored by all. His gray eyes were ravishing, and he had exquisite flawless skin. He was adored by everyone until he met a girl named Freda. Freda was a twenty-nine-year-old autistic patient, and Jayden was twenty-seven years old cancer patient. On their first encounter, Jayden, who enjoys being around women, sees Freda as a red flag due to her disability and her choice of clothing. He had sworn to himself that he would never run into Freda again, but fate couldn’t be more cooperative as they continued to bump into each other. Due to an unexpected situation, Freda has no other option but to start working in Jayden’s mansion. Freda pledged that she would fix the playboy’s heart so that he would fall in love with someone because she sees no reason why he avoids being in a relationship, but little did she know that she would fall for him instead. “But what if she discovers she is in love with a cancer patient? Will she suppress her emotions or work to make Jayden’s life as happy as possible before he dies?” “Will love save the day when death calls?” This book evokes a wide range of emotions.

You went ahead to kiss me.

His feet were frigid, as was his hand, and he was quite uncomfortable.

Slowly opening his eyes, he noticed that he was in his sitting room, resting down on the couch.

He wasn't wearing a shirt, which made him question himself. 'What am I doing here?'

As he slowly rises, he sits fully on the couch, and his butt hurts as well as his waist.

Jayden exhaled as he yanked his hands through his hair, tugging it backwards because it had fallen on his face.

He wiped his eyes as he sighed again before rising from the couch.

When he stepped his foot on the ground, he felt as if he were being stored in a cool room, and he had to swiftly retract his legs.

He was terribly cold because the air conditioning was switched on and he had no shirt on.

He gathered his bravery and stepped onto the floor once more, only to be hit with dizziness. Jayden had to put his hands on his head fast because his head felt heavy and his eyes were spinning.

The entire sitting room spun round, and the more he tried to walk, the more he faltered and felt like he was about to pass out.

Jayden made his way to the dining area after struggling for a bit, as he grabbed a bottle of water from his refrigerator. It was a good thing his refrigerator wasn't turned on because the water was warm rather than being cold.

Jayden scans the sitting area once more after finishing the bottle of water.

'Who brought me here?'

He started wondering who the hell brought him to his house, but his entire memory was blanked out.

Jayden stood up from his dining room chair and groped for the air conditioner's controller, which was after his head stopped spinning.

He promptly turned off the air conditioner and was on his way to his room to freshen up for the day when his sight was drawn to a white blanket.

The blanket was on the floor alongside the couch from where he had awoken. The blanket appeared to have fallen off his body while he was sleeping.

The question was, 'Who wrapped a blanket around him?'

Jayden remembered being at the club the night before and drinking with a group of guys. He was upset last night, thinking about how his life was about to end.

Doctors cautioned him not to get involved with alcohol since it was hazardous for his health, but Jayden doesn't care.

Normally, he wasn't the type of person who could be easily blanked out by a single glass of whisky, but yesterday night perplexed him.

He walked upstairs after picking up the blanket from the floor since he had a lot of things to take care of.

As he was about to enter his room, he saw that the door was slightly ajar.

'Little lamb. Is there an airport nearby, or is it just my heart taking off?'

He became aware of his own voice playing in his head. He was taken aback.

He pondered, his hands on his chin, and he knew he didn't only say such things to himself. He has a strong suspicion that he said those things to someone, but he can't wrap his head around it.

Shaking his head sideways, Jayden decided to continue walking, and as he opened the door of his room wide, he was stunned to see a lady lying down on his bed.

He has never carried a lady to his room, let alone to his bed. He has never let any of the ladies he has brought to his home to enter his room because he despises it.

He felt Inquisitive as he stared at the back of the lady with her red hair that fell messily on her face.

Who could she possibly be?

Curiosity got the best of him, and he approached the lady before reaching out to pull a strand of hair off her face.

Exhaling. He froze on the spot as he pulled a strand of hair from her face.

Jayden held his breath for a whole minute because he was having difficulty processing what he was witnessing right now.

He blinked his eyelashes a few times after a few minutes had elapsed.

Freda, who was fast sleeping, opened her eyes wide because it was time for her to get out of bed.

She blinked her eyelashes a few times when her attention unexpectedly landed on Jayden, who was holding her hair and stared back at her.

After a few minutes of staring intensely into each other's eyes, Jayden drew away from her.

"Arrrrhhhhhhh!!" They both yelled at the same time, and in unison.

Freda sat down on the bed and shifted to the far end of the bed.

Jayden, on the other hand, took a few steps back as his back collided with the wall.

They were both looking at each other in terror.

"You pervert!"

"What? When did I turn into a pervert? Aren't you a pervert because you broke into my house and slept on my bed?"

Hearing Jayden's remarks, Freda frowns deeply.

"Why would I want to break into your home? You are the reason I am here, so don't play games with me. Okay, I didn't sneak into your house. To sneak means to go somewhere secretly or take someone or anything somewhere secretly, and I didn't do anything secretive, so please don't say sneak again." She elaborated.

Jayden rolled his eyes and pointed his index finger at her as he closed the gap between them. "I was drunk last night and don't remember everything, but if you're not shameless, you shouldn't have gone to my room to sleep since that's so low of you." He barked and was clearly irritated.

Freda gave a short smile. "I can relive your memories, and one of the most revolting things you did was ask me if you could borrow a kiss. You even went so far as to swear you'd return the kiss back." Freda said calmly, but her words struck Jayden.

"You also went ahead to kiss me." She continued, and this time her voice sounded like a bomb in Jayden's ear as he recalled all that had transpired.
