Chapter 7 - Leave My Bride Alone

(Auzia’s POV)

I woke up early in the morning and I’m already not in the mood. I don’t know but I do not also talk with Diana even we went here in school together.

Then right now, I am very bored listening to this English class. I don’t know why I hate this subject where in fact Diana loves it. Ms. Luna is discussing about this Shakespeare guy whom I don’t even know who the hell he is. What does it have to do with me if he’s a writer? “Hey babe what’s wrong?” Jacobs asked, probably because he saw my face crumpled. Even I won’t look in the mirror I know that my face shows my mood right now.

“Just nothing, I just don’t like the subject.” I answered which he believed right away. Good thing that Jacob knows something about this freaking subject. I luckily answered the on the spot exam of Ms. Luna because of him. Yes, you heard it right. Jacob and I are already together. It’s already three days since I said yes to him and so far he’s not a playboy or something. Only his face I think.

“So it’s already time class. I hope you learned something today.” Ms. Luna smiles like I really enjoyed it. It is a boring discussion as she knows. What would you learned in that kind of discussion?! Gosh!

“Bes, let’s find something to eat.” I look back at Diana whose busy fixing her things in her table. Same with Stygian who’s putting back his notes on his bag.

“Hey. I told you. Don’t be struck by that guy.” Jacob pouted between his complaints. Since when did he learned to be like a duck?

“I don’t. You are just a jealous type babe. He’s not my type too.” He smiled as he heard my answer. I found it cute when he’s like that. Flicke told me that Jacob is not like that back then but when we are already together, he’s already carefree and he usually pouts when he’s with me which is not that ugly for him because he’s really a cute guy. “Come on!”

“Can I join on you?” Three of us stopped as Stygian ask. Jacob and I stared to each other and he’s telling me to ignore him but it’s already too late. “Of course.” Diana answered. We didn’t have any choice but to let him come with us. I look back at a moment and I saw Kin’s death terrifying stare to Stygian and Diana walking away from the room. Looks like the game has already begun.

In cafeteria

The line here in cafeteria is quite long than usual, probably because the break time of all students is in the same time right now. Diana and I are in the table while the guys are the one who gets our food. At first, Jacob complained about being with Stygian together to get our foods but he also gave up in me. I shifted my gaze to Diana which is busy tip-tapping her phone. “Bes.” I call that made her stopped from what she is doing.

“What?” He asked back. I just wanted to ask her what’s with her and Stygian. These past few days, I noticed that they are quite close already. And to think that I know about Kin being jealous with that, it made me more curious about the situation.

“Why is it that you are not already with Kin? I thought he’s courting you already?” His expression changes as she heard me. So there’s really something?

“Nothing. He’s just hitting with me and that’s it.” Somehow I am not contented on her answer. It feels like she’s hiding something from me so I asked again.

“So…how about Stygian? You too are close already, huh.” She’s changing the direction of her gazes that went my curiosity into high level. She’s really a bad liar.

“Ah…It’s...uhm…”

“Hey! Here’s our order now. Sorry for being late the line is freaking long.” This man and his perfect timing to ruin a talk. “Babe here’s your lemonade.” Jacob put the glass in my front. Stygian on the other hand just sat with Diana quietly. My question didn’t still meet its answer.

“Diana here’s yours.” Stygian gave a plate of carbonara to Diana which made me shock for a moment. How did he know the favorite food of Diana?

“Thanks.” Jacob and I just look at each other and he’s also sensing something between the two. It’s also obvious in his face that he suspects also the two.

“So by the way bro, you and Diana are already close right?” Jacob playfully asked while drinking his blueberry juice. Stygian ordered black coffee and chocolate cake.

“Not so. We’re still getting to know each other.” He simple answered without even looking at Jacob. He’s quite rude huh. No wonder that I didn’t have any reaction as I saw him. I can’t even say that he’s my type. From the first day that he entered the room, I already sense something on him. I just don’t know what it is.

(Jacob’s POV)

I didn’t expect that he’s really good at pretending. I can’t see any fear in his face and he’s very confident. “So how’s the feeling about being the seatmate of Diana? You know she’s quite an Amazon.” Auzia asked gleefully but I felt the opposite. I think she also hate the thing that Stygian and Diana are slowly getting a closure.

“Hey, what are you saying, huh?” Diana’s face became crumpled and grim hearing the question of Auzia.

“Actually she’s a great seatmate. She’s not nosy about things that have no sense to talk about.” Auzia expression changes after Stygian answered him. He’s showing himself now huh. Even Diana was shocked about the way Stygian answered her bestfriend. Maybe Kin didn’t tell her about what could Stygian cause to her? I though we’ve already talked about this.

“I-it’s not like that too. I don’t care about the business of others though.” Diana answered and juts ate her food. No one talked after that. Three of us felt the awkward atmosphere already but except for Stygian who’s proudly drinking his coffee.

“By the way, Sty what is your previous school?” Diana started a new topic. Auzia, on the other hand, is just waiting for Stygian’s answer.

“Bowsard University.” Stygian answered still no emotion to see. Diana just nodded at him. She already felt that this is not a good time to talk to him.

“Bes! Come on. We will have our next subject already.” Auzia immediately stood up without waiting for Diana’s response. Of course, I followed her too carrying our bags.

“We’ll be going there together I need to talk to her privately.” Auzia stopped and aggressively look back at them. I saw how Auzia gritted her teeth while holding her anger.

“And why?” Auzia’s tone changed. Her voice became dark and serious.

“Cause I need to talk to her. There’s nothing wrong with it right Diana?” Diana almost chokes as Stygian called her. She immediately wipes her lips and just stared at the two.

“Ah…uhm...”

“There is.” All of our sights landed at the person who spoke. Diana also shifted her gaze at Kin while Stygian is still drinking his coffee ignoring what Kin said.

Seconds passed and Stygian looked at Kin. “Oh. I’m sorry then. Diana I think I’ll tell you this next time.” He stood up like there’s nothing happened and left the cafeteria. Four of us stared at each other and I can feel the overflowing energy of Kin so I break the silence immediately.

“Kin, come on. We still have our class.” Four of us left the cafeteria and good thing that Diana followed Kin too.

(Diana’s POV)

I was focusing to the lectures of Professor Marlon about life. He’s our science teacher and I am not quite bored on his class because he’s a humorous type. I don’t have any intentions to listen to this class but I am afraid of talking to Sty. He’s not in the bad mood right now but based in what happened on the cafeteria, it looks like he and Kin are not in good terms.

I can’t also complain to Kin a while ago because I saw it again. He’s eyes that are covered with fury just like what I have seen last time when Brandon tried to rape me. Yes, I admit that I am scared with Kin sometimes because I already know what his capabilities are. Stygian might end up like Brandon if I won’t end that situation

“Ms. Equixe?” I stopped from imagining when Prof. Marlon called my attention.

“Yes Prof.” I stood up in shock and I saw how my other classmates held their laughter back. What’s wrong with them? I didn’t say anything that is funny.

“I’m asking you. What is life?” Shit! He asked me a while ago? Am I really that whipped while thinking about Kin and Stygian. What should I answer to this? I don’t have any idea though!

Who was that? I roam my eyes around as I heard a voice.

Just answer it moron!

“You’re not listening to my discussion?” Prof. Marlon’s voice became dead serious already. He’s probably waiting for my answer and I am too slow for it.

“Uhm…life is the…The quality that distinguishes a vital and functional being from a dead body.” I answered and Prof. Marlon looks contented about it.

“Oh, I thought you’re not listening. Let’s proceed.” I sat down as he continued his discussion to the class. I still can’t believe what was happened. Whose voice is that? Is it my conscience? But it is a voice of a man. Does conscience have gender now?

“What happened to you, huh? Why did you hesitate to answer?” Auzia lowered her voice that only we can hear. Am I going to tell her about what I have heard a while ago? She may say that I am being just crazy.

“That was nothing. I was just thinking on how to deliver my answer.” She just nodded at me, contented. I saw that Jacob was smiling at me like I did something so I kick him lightly. He looked at me then he mouthed me ‘what’. I just rolled my eyes at him. I’m not in the mood to play with him.

I’m still having goose bumps every time I remember about that voice. It didn’t happen just once but twice. He even called me moron. I’m annoyed at the fact the he called me moron but the same time afraid. That was just my imagination I guess.

It took a long period of time until Prof Marlon ended his class. I have no time too to look at Sty. He might pour his anger on me if that happens. “Bes, let’s go home together. Jacob needs to do something so he can’t accompany me.” Oh, she still remembers me? I thought she already consider Jacob as her roommate? She can also live in Jacob’s house if she wants.

“Okay.” I simple answered before fixing my belongings. I will also bring my textbooks since we will have our test next week. Tomorrow has a basketball contest game in the gymnasium so it was our free time as what Ms. Andora said. Same as with the others except for our third and fourth years because they are the contenders of the game.

“Diana. I’m sorry about what happened in the cafeteria. I didn’t mean to be rude that time. I’m sorry.” I stopped from fixing my bag as Stygian spoke. All of our classmates already left including Auzia. She said to me that she will buy something at the cafeteria before we go home. I really don’t know why we are calling it cafeteria well in fact it looks like a canteen for me. My other classmates are still here also but only few of them.

“That’s nothing, Sty. I was the one who needs to say sorry because Kin interfered with us.” If Kin didn’t do that earlier, I have said yes to him already. But he’s too creepy a while ago that made me hesitate again.

“By the way, what’s the connection between you and Kin? I think you’re quite close.” I raised my upper lip as he said close. We’re close? In fact, I almost get a back cramps because of hiding from him every time. I know that I like him and it became more awkward when he started asking me to be his girlfriend.

“Uhm…He’s my…suitor.” Stygian just nodded. Looks like he already know why Kin acted like that a while ago. He just needs to be ready for my lectures for him. That’s stupid Kin!

“Oh okay.” I don’t know what’s running in his mind. It’s just that his face looks unusual and like he’s hiding a secret or something terrible. I don’t want to assume also so I just let it slide.

“Sty I gotta go. I need to catch up with my Auzia.” I bid my goodbye to him because he looks like he doesn’t want to leave from his chair. Maybe he needs to do something in the room. Is he a bookworm though? It’s far from his looks too. Forget it! It’s not my problem already.

(Third Person’s POV)

All of Diana’s classmates left the classroom except for Stygian who seems to be waiting for someone. He’s just reading his book and his expression is still calm but prepared. Not a moment passed, Kin entered the room.

Stygian didn’t bother to look at Kin and still busy reading his book. “What’s your business with Diana?” Kin asks directly before sitting at the chair of the Professor at the front. It’s too far from Stygian which made the latter chuckled, creepily.

“Why are you sitting that far away from me? Are you afraid of me?” He grinned evilly before closing the book that he’s reading. “Or do you find me intimidating? Oh c’mon man we’re…FRIENDS.” Stygian even emphasizes the word friends which made Kin more annoyed.

“I’m giving you a warning Stygian. Leave my girl alone. Lay a single finger on her and you’ll be toasted.” Kin’s fist is already clicking, ready for any attacks.

“Oh that was scary man. Maybe take some seminars on how to intimidate a person. You’re still a newbie.” Stygian give him a grin and in just a couple of seconds, Stygian is already floating in the air

“You should watch your word asshole.” Kin threw Stygian at the corner of the classroom but shock covered Kin’s face as he saw how Stygian stayed at his position. He’s still floating in the air and he’s already surrounded my black smoke that makes him float.

“You’re powers are quite strong but it’s not enough to give me a bruise. Pity.” Stygian releases a black dragon smoke that briskly dashes at Kin. “Are you okay there man?” Stygian uttered between his chuckles. The smoke that Stygian releases slowly disperse and his face is covered with confusion as he saw two silhouettes of men.

“Hello there little friend.” Jacob uttered between his smirked. “I thought you’re faster than me?” Jacob said with a taste of insult but Stygian gave them a boring look.

“This is just the beginning idiots.” Stygian simply said and the smoke became darker and gloomy until it teleported Stygian going to somewhere else.

Jacob and Kin left at the room dumbfounded and still shocked about what they witnessed. They’ve just encountered the black smoke manipulator. One of the strongest powers of the Dark Wizards.

“Kin what happened?” Clay asked as he came out from the portal that Flick conjured.

“We’ve detected a different kind of energy. Who did that?” Dew asked too, obviously startled about the strong energy that they felt.

“It’s Stygian. He’s a black smoke manipulator. A very strong power in the clan of dark wizards.” Jacob explained to them. Kin’s face, on the other hand, cannot be read and just plain shock. Obviously cannot believe what happened to them.

“We’re in trouble. Protect your brides” The only thing that Kin said before leaving the classroom.
