I clenched my fists in anticipation. Just like Aivena, I couldn't wait… I would've urged her to hurry with letting me out, but I couldn't risk her suspecting anything until the very last moment. The first stage of my escape plan succeeded, but it was only one of the two.
I couldn't let her suspect anything until the very last moment.
Aivena pointed a finger at the wooden cage around me. Under a spell she muttered, the bars of it moved like alive snakes and receded into the ground one by one. Then she gestured with her chin on a spot next to her.
"Come here, Devourer. You can roam around later."
A part of me couldn't believe this was really happening, but the first careful step into the space that previously pushed me out couldn't lie. Finally, I was out of my tiny cage… but still in the bigger one. I couldn't relax yet.
"Now, remove your carapace and stand still." Aivena ordered when I stopped at the designated place.
