Asher shifted his eyes excitedly as he read the words in front of his face. Asher felt amazing. He finally learned how to cast his first spell without much difficulty. This spell was considered, by most, to be worthless as the wall could not physically stop someone from walling past it. But for Asher, it was the perfect spell for his ultimate plan. The magic would not appear to anyone else. It would look like there was nothing there. But to Asher, it was like a living fog that rolled down like a waterfall.

The book briefly explained how to control and manipulate the ability. Asher grabbed a mirror from the corner and lined it up with himself. It was on the other side of the smokey wall. Despite looking directly into the mirror, He did not have a reflection. It just showed the room as if he was not there. He reached his hand into the center of the veil and flexed his hand into different shapes with what he had.

To Asher, the smoke wall just rippled and flexed. But in the mirror, the wall kept changing. It changed from walls of vine, ice, fire, Victorian-style house. The wall could be changed however Asher wished. Asher commands the wall to become transparent again.

He decided on another test. He reaches his hand through the wall. The smoke moved around his hand was still surrounded by the smoke. It was like the wall was made out of rubber and moved any way that Asher did. He then pushed his fist farther till it was through the wall. It gave way and opened and wrapped around Asher. Then the hole that made was refilled behind him. Now he appeared again in the mirror as he stood on the other side of the wall.

He wanted to test if the wall could poke his hand through the wall, but it appears that he had to step all the way through to pass through the veil successfully. It would prevent people from getting through. If the wall was not that flexible, people could easily see it was fake since their hands would disappear the moment they pushed it through.

He then reached back into the core of the smoke wall and curled his hand into a ball like he was grabbing something inside. He then jerked his hand back and was pulled like a giant tarp. With a wave of the hand, the smoke moved over his head. The smoke wall fell like a blanket and formed a sheet of smoke that covered Asher's body. The book said this was a trick to make just themselves invisible or make them look like a statue.

Asher smiled as his experiment was a success. The smoke looked like it came out of his body was made of smoke. As he moved around, the veil would stay wrapped around his body and moved around his body. The smoke moved around his body like it was alive. It felt like there was a rush of cold air rolling over his body.

Asher snapped his fingers, and the smoke dispersed as the spell lifted. He was overjoyed. He now had actual magic power. It was not as impressive or domineering as other types of magic, but it was his power nonetheless. He put the illusion book aside and shuffled through other magic textbooks. He found the other magic book he needed.

The first book was called 'Basic Alchemic Formula.' It detailed complex formulas for alchemic processes. The alchemic element was the most complex of magics. It used magic formulas to convert a substance into a new shape or chemical properties. Even the least complex magic diagram was still enough to make Asher's head spin. He understood why most alchemist would dedicate their lives to the practice of this single art.

There were two uses for the element: the first was the distillation of magic herbs into magic potions, and the second was crafting. If you had the materials and knowledge, you could pretty much make whatever you needed. The only problem was the price tag to make them. Asher would need alchemic chalk to draw the magic diagram for crafting and a distillery for potions. That does not include the actual material for the process. To Asher, it looked like alchemy was going to wait. He set the book on top of the illusion book before continuing his search.

After finding the book on enchantment, Asher learned the enchantment element was almost as expensive as the alchemy element. It required a special stylus to draw magic currents in an object. These currents require a power source such as a person or mana crystal, but the current's element can't change. For example, a sword with ice currents then a second current would need to be added if you wanted different magic like fire. Also, the enchanter had to have the magic that they drew in the item. Asher could only enchant his six magics. Though this news was saddening, the book told about a specialized stylus that could empower an item even if the enchanter did not have the element.

He continued his search for his other textbooks. He found the spatial magic book. The spatial magic can teleport or bend space and make a pocket. It was like storage functions in a video game. It would be helpful in the future. So he dedicated the next hour to learning the spatial storage ability.

He felt a strange wind. The wind circled him over and over like a hurricane. Books were flung open on their own, and pages were flipped through as if an invisible hand was turning page after page. It was as if the sky folded on itself. The system chimed after his practice.

[Congratulations!! You have established the inventory.]

Unlike before, he did not get a spell notification. It was a new development. The magic should have given him a new spell rather than given his system an upgrade. It led to a thought of what this system was. Asher considered the origins of the system a long time ago. It seemed that the system had a specific purpose, but Asher could never figure it out. Asher could not shake the feeling that the system had planned this.

He pushed his thoughts to the back of his mind. He would not be able to find answers here or right now. He decided to focus on his experiments. He opened his inventory and looked through the screen. It was like it was from a video game. There were spaces for items on the right, and the left was a virtual version of Asher with small boxes pointing at pieces of his body. After playing enough games, Asher could say that it looked like an equipment screen. Asher picked up a book from his stack, and the bell rang out in his mind.

"Yes." With just a word, the book shone in white light. It began to become white dust and disappear into the air. Asher turned his attention to the inventory, and a book icon was on one of the boxes. Asher then focused on the icon. A new screen popped up.

He did not resummon the book. Instead, he put the other books he had found. He was ecstatic. It was perfect for him and his plan. His mind snapped back to focus as he heard the doorknob begin to rattle. Someone was coming in. Asher grabbed the book and put them back as he found them. He then cast the veil and disappeared.
