The Prefect Element

Asher slipped through the manor with his hood drawn hiding his face. His goal was his father's study. His father had ordered a bunch of magic textbooks for each of the elements. These were for Asher and Jude when they awakened. They would allow him to get a good foundation and allow him to become stronger. Noble society was dangerous for those who could not protect themselves. Weak nobles had a habit of disappearing.

Asher room was located on the third floor of the west wing, and his father's study was located on the first floor in the east wing. So Asher would have to pass through the doorways at the party. This was difficult since he was supposed to be bedridden. He moved as quickly and quietly he could passing the doorway with out stopping. The bright light outside and his dark cloak would make him look like a faint shadow that no one would notice

His father kept the room locked with a key that he had on his person. This was because Asher would often sneak into his study to steal his books. Asher had to get creative on how to enter the study. He stop in front of a suit of armor that stood at guard with a large sword. Asher almost jumped when he heard someone approaching.

'Damn I was sure I was careful.' He crawled behind the armor and pushed a hidden panel that was about one meter square. He slid into the empty path and slid the panel back in place. Making the entrance disappear as the tail passed by the armor Asher had disappeared behind.

Asher finally was able to breath as he heard the foot step leave. He looked down the hidden passage. It was covered in a thick layer of dust and cobwebs. Asher found this place by accident a few years ago, and used it to sneak into his father's study to get at his father's magic books. Since the books were rare and valuable, this would make his father angry. However, his father never figure how Asher manage to get in.

These passages where most likely made a long time ago when the manor was first built and forgotten. This made it the perfect way to get around. No one knew how he got around so easily and he could move without being noticed.

Asher traveled down the pathway for about fifteen minutes until he arrived at a small door that was about as big as the panel he entered through. He would have arrived earlier but he had to remain silent so that he would not be discovered.

When he pulled the door open, a wave of dust was kicked up. Asher waved his hand in front of his face and cough harshly. Once his coughing fit was over, he looked around the room. There was many books that line the wall, and in the center of the room was a heavy oak desk. After looking through the books, he found his prize.

In the corner of the room was a stack of books that have been collected together. The books were neatly stacked into the back corner. He quickly flipped through book after book.

"Intro to battle songs. No. Basic Fire Magic Control. More like how not to be an arsonist. Ice magics for beginners. No Elsa here." Asher would pick up one of the books and look at the titles before throwing them lazily over his shoulder.

Once he came across a book with the title, 'Basic Illusory Party tricks.' 'What the fuck?' The best illusion magic textbook was a book of bad party tricks. Asher let out a sigh. 'How is this suppose to help me at all.' Asher cursed in his mind. He already knew that illusion element was not the best but the fact that the best magic textbook was just a collection of party trick was just insulting.

He let out a sigh. In this instance, beggars really couldn't be choosers. He flip the book open and skimmed through it. The book mostly contain the detail for preforming cheap illusions that were designed for a cheap entertainment.

Despite this Asher learn quite a bit about the illusion element. The level of the element is determined by how many senses the illusion affects. Basic illusion magic can only affect one of the senses such as sight or sound. However, the illusion can be affected by the intelligence of the person that it is used on. There were two requirements to block an illusion spell. A illusion can be broken if the person is aware that it is an illusion and can calm there mind clearing the illusion from their mind. Some illusions can be strong enough to affect them because of the difficult of calming oneself.

Asher understood why the illusion element was considered as a trash element. It could not directly affect an individual or the environment and could be negated. However for Asher, this was the prefect element for him. If used correctly, this element could be frightening. It could tap into a persons deepest fear and force them to face it. He found a spell that was prefect for his plan. He found a detailed magic circle in the book.

He had to force himself to calm down. This would be his first magic spell. He closed his eyes focusing on the energy in his chest. It was like a flickering flame that cause waves of warm and coolness to flow through his body. When he focused on it, the flame began to burn stronger, and it stop pulsing and burned firmly. The difference was like burning wood and gas. Both burned but the gas was stronger and more stable.

The flame began to flow down his veins filling them with the warmth. The heat began to fill in his finger tips. With his hand, he raised in front of him like he was signaling to stop. Black smoke came from his hand and began to reach out forming a inch thick wall. It reached the walls, floor and ceiling. It was like a black waterfall that form in the middle of the room.

Asher opened his eye with joy as his first spell was success. He looked at the smoky wall with awe. It was semitransparent as he could see the other side of the wall but it was like looking through a thick mist. He finally turned to the screen that had appeared in front of him.
